Excellent and Convenient!
I’ve had two therapists through BetterHelp and both have been incredible. They listened, offered support and compassion, understood my goals and always remembered where we left off from the previous session. I have a lot of anxiety and bouts of depression which caused me to miss in-person appointments or just give up altogether. The video chats alleviate that stress, and are equally, if not more, effective than a in-person therapy. I’m very grateful for this service and the amazing care I’ve received from my therapists.

betterhelp does NOT care about your mental health. they care about money and their own means. i was on betterhelp for about 5 months. i had some frustrations at first , always getting matched to the opposite type of therapist than i had clicked i wanted when i had joined. finally, i got matched with someone that seemed perfect for me; and she was! my therapist and i met weekly, and she was so accommodating of my schedule, my mental health, everything. two weeks ago, i got a message saying my therapist was no longer on betterhelp with no explanation. no one answered my chats, no one answered my emails, i was told to pick a new therapist and that was it. for two weeks i struggled without my therapy sessions, ones that had automatically been cancelled. yet i still got charged for two sessions. betterhelp randomly charges you after billing your insurance. doesn’t say why, or when, or have a breakdown of your charges or anything. i hadn’t even been to my sessions because i had no therapist, yet i was still being charged. luckily , i found my therapist through a google search and we have since reconnected. but betterhelp has barely addressed my needs, questions, or anything. i got an email back today for the first time in over two weeks, and it said the exact same thing the original message said ; “you can browse other therapists”. no ‘we are sorry’ , no answers about the billing questions, no concerns for me, nothing. what a TERRIBLE app. i use therapy for my anxiety, and i could never imagine if i had something much worse and relied on heavy therapy just to be screwed over.

2 sessions so far but loving it
I’ve only done 2 sessions, but I’ve really enjoyed them. Being able to talk to a therapist when I want to, in a manner that works for me is great. These 2 sessions have been text only, but I plan to move to phone and video sessions at some point too! The app sends you updates on messages from your therapist, that you choose, and will even send text reminders about your appointments. Overall, it’s a great tool!

Personal therapy
I like the balance of the therapy where you get to talk pretty much 50% of the time and the therapist talks 50% of the time with good communication and just a couple of things to work on each week so that you don’t feel overloaded with too much information
Disappointed
I had a very disappointing experience with BetterHelp. I signed up expecting timely communication and support, especially since people seeking therapy are often dealing with difficult situations and need prompt responses.
Unfortunately, the therapist I was initially matched with never responded to my messages. I reached out to BetterHelp’s support team multiple times to make sure my messages had gone through, but I received little to no communication. After waiting, I switched to another therapist, but by that point my confidence in the platform had already been lost.
The biggest issue wasn’t just the lack of response from the therapist—it was the lack of customer support afterward. I sent multiple emails requesting assistance and eventually had to request a refund because I felt completely ignored.
For a service that promotes accessible mental health care, responsiveness should be a top priority. In my experience, BetterHelp fell short of that expectation. I cannot recommend the platform based on the level of communication and support I received.

I’m so glad I finally signed up. My therapist is a great match for me and I’m feeling better after two sessions. I know I have a lot more to go, but so far it’s been a very positive experience.

Love the flexibility
This has turned out to be a big help to me. I’ve met physically with a few therapists and could not find one that I could connect with. Now I look forward to a session scheduled at my convenience and my therapist is really getting to know me. the cost is about the same as my co pay would be if I met with someone locally. And I really like the other tools in the app, the journaling, mood tracker and free webinars

Imperfect Awesomeness
I’ve used BH for about 6 months now and I love my therapist. The platform itself is easy to use, though sometimes has some technical difficulties. Customer service is fast and responsive but the financial aspect is very confusing and even misleading at times.
