Unusable

The app is simply unusable both on Android and iOS: slow, laggy. To get a bike takes ages. It is often impossible to terminate a bike ride. One time it terminated the ride on a no parking zone, which was miles away from where I actually was and I got charged 20 quids. Customer service had been nothing but condescending. Lots of broken bikes around, the app still recognises them as viable. Unfortunately Lime bikes are hard to find in my neighbourhood and I’m stuck with this cr*p

Dishonest

The 30 free minutes is a lie. I used a bike with the advert on it, no indication I'd be charged more than £1. And got charged over £6 for about 16 minutes. £1 of that was because the app took 3 minutes to send the pic of the parked bike. It's a scam.

No warning for Out of bounds

Would be nice if you actually warned me if I’m entering a no parking zone with a beep or notification or something, so I don’t realise this 15 minutes into the area, thus requiring me to go 15 minute back and find another better bike renting service to make my 15 minutes back, therefore wasting half and hour of my time.

No customer loyalty

Worst bike service and no customer loyalty.

Never works

The amount of times I can’t start a ride or end a ride is insane!

Great bikes terrible app

App slow and fails at peak times

Took money from me

It’s took £0.66 from me when I added my Apple Pay

Not quite good enough

I like Forest bikes but there are 3 big issues that make them less than Lime.
1. They can’t do hills - I had to swap bikes 4 times to get to the top of Muswell Hill, and you’re rarely near a replacement when yours stops working.
2. If you stop to answer a phone call they’ll fine you £20 - the pause facility doesn’t always work.
3. When you try to phone up and complain about that fine, the phone line is always down. I’ll was using every day but I’ve had one too many unfair fines that haven’t been refunded.

Archaic app

This app feels like you’re transported back to 2015.
It’s slow, glitchy and the UI is not friendly at all.
Compare it to competitors like Voi and it seems like it is at least a generation behind

Buggy app and buggy bikes

Terrible app. Hardly works and the bikes also rarely work. Please bring back Lime to Barnes

The worst cycling app in London

Forest are a joke. Their bikes clumsy and ungainly with awful handlebars designed for people over 2.5 metres tall and a wingspan of an albatross.
When thet the app up their business development failed miserably with agreeing adequate parking permissions. Entire districts of huge boroughs have 0 parking places. I actually had to cycle 1/2 mile past my destination to find a ridiculous place to park down a shady dimly light back alley. Try and call their customer service team, their phone lines are down. I assumed crashed due to the number of complaints about their clown service.
Every other competitor laughs at Forest. I will never use them again, it’s an embarrassment

The bugs

I like this app and bikes 90% of the time work great, the 10% is other users not reporting issues with the bikes. My only moan about this app is that sometimes it bugs out when trying to end a ride, it’s a little frustrating as you’ll be looking at the end ride image just waiting for it to conclude other than that I’ve been using it nearly everyday this spring and summer to commute to work and go out and about London.

Very average app

Very average app. Constant bugs, half the bikes don’t work, very often impossible to end the ride.

Incorrect charges, terrible customer service

The service has fallen apart in recent months, do not bother. Have been charged multiple times £20-75 when I had minutes and the bikes have broken down etc, customer service never get back to you. Have seen same from other reviewers on here, so do not bother now. Any issue, which there will be, you’ll be out of pocket. Use lime or voi

Terrible customer service

After several years of using Lime, I never had a single problem. Whenever any minor issue arose, their customer service team dealt with it within minutes or a few hours at most.

This was my first time using Forest, and I was overcharged for a bike that I couldn’t even use because it had a flat tyre. I contacted customer service several times, but they completely ignored me.

A few days later, I deleted my account. I will never use this service again.

Deeply flawed and unreliable

The app is not fit for the purpose. It freezes every time I use it so that I am either unable to hire a bike to get home late at night or I am unable to lock it after my journey. After which I am left with the need to claim the expense back which is near impossible with their customer service/chat availability. These bikes are good to ride, but the Lime app and service makes life so much easier. If only Richmond and Hounslow councils had tried to use the Forest app before banishing Lime. Ugh.

Where do I start?

Well, I hope there is a new app on the way because I did have to input my email address and yeah did not hear anything back.

Use Forest daily in London. Service is great, app is so slow at starting rides and ending rides.

You scan the QR code, then choose the plan minutes or payg. I use the 500 mins per month.

You press rent now and it can take up to 2 to 3 mins for the bike to start. Some bikes make the noise and some bikes don’t make the noise.

Sometimes the bikes start, then stop straight away and the timer is still running on the app. Then you have to get off and then stop it. Take a picture as well and wait for the beep beep.

The amount of minutes I’ve lost over the days of bikes failing to start up.

Okay they refund the minutes sometimes which is good as it automated but it don’t return back to the pass. It sits on the account.

Then when you make a short trip sometimes you would get a random £1 unlock charge as it has come out from the refunded mins and not the pass.

Let’s move on to ending rides. You finish your ride and park up. Press the end ride it could say 6 mins for example. Then as per normal take the picture and send. It will take you to another screen please wait we are ending your screen and that can take up to 2 mins to end.

Sometimes you would get a beep beep on the bike and then it still ending. Before you know it. There an extra two minutes come out your bundle for software issues.

These lost minutes do add up over time and if your a frequent rider like myself then it could be ten mins per day.

Let’s talk bikes. The blue bikes are uncomfortable and rattle so much so I try and get the green ones with the new lower seat.

They are great and comfortable however the beep beep is on some and not on the others. The app should show the difference between the blue and the green bikes at least.

Also you can’t do group rides, you can’t pre-book a bike on the app and no scooters are available.

Live chat sends tickets but never get a reply back. Telephone call says cannot take calls at the moment so it directs you to live chat and email us does not do anything.

So yeah there is my review of my three months using forest in London so far.
