Don’t download
After a while it asks to verify and it’s already verified my device before but hasn’t detected it and now keeps asking to contact customer service. I am in a different country and not able to contact Australian number.
Authenticator Never works - We are now completely moving our banking to another bank.
I have spoken to Macquarie staff multiple times, they have reset stuff on their end. I have signed out of the app, deleted the app, shut down the phone and reinstalled the app while staff on the phone and it still won’t work so I am unable to check any of my accounts. Macquarie also won’t allow me to use any another Authenticator so I am stuck not being able to check my own accounts online and having to call. I am now in the process of completing moving banks as this is just not acceptable for an online banking platform.

Broken and redundant app
Deleted the app because it hasn’t asked for verification in months. Out of the blue it asks for verification again whilst just trying to transfer to a friend for dinner. Asks me to ‘open Macquarie authenticator on my other device’. There is no other device. In the end it was easier to transfer to Commbank and send from there. Ridiculous.

Can’t activate notifications
Update: Mar 2026
Version 4.1.3 has not fixed anything. I still don’t receive codes despite Macquarie Bank having to make me manually verify my information and devices. Macquarie Bank customer service is also using redundant support guides and has repeatedly given me incorrect information regarding troubleshooting of this app version. Not a good look.

Version 3.35 has not fixed the notifications issue or the broken ‘enable’ button. I wanted to point out, customer support has been repeatedly notified, yet the issue still persists.

Unable to access my account
The app has apparently been updated by Macquarie but now I can’t access my account?????

Latest update isn’t compatible with my iPad… so how do I access my account now!

I used to use the web interface when I don’t have my phone on me.
Now you can’t use the web without the Authenticator which makes the website completely useless.

the APp request 16.0 version, i am still using apple 7 plus, which can not upgrade to version 16

My iPhone won’t allow me to use this app it it requires IOS 16. I don’t think I should be forced to buy a new phone in order to access my money

Let's update it so customers stuck on pre-IOS 16 are screwed! That'll show them
Upgrade to IOS 16 not accepted on older iPhones
So the Authenticator has been upgraded and unable to be used on older iPhone that does not accept IOS 16. Is this a means of forcing people into buying a new phone simply so they can use this App.

It’s an essential app that’s fairly simple so I don’t see why you had to drop support for iOS 15. Now I can’t even authorise my transactions.
Unnecessary update
Macquarie’s own description of this update is ‘small improvements’ so why make customers jump through yet another hoop hoop?
Must have iOS 16?????
So I now have to upgrade my iPhone to be able to do online banking from desktop because MFA must be upgraded and can only be done on iOS 16. So I can’t use Authenticator & can’t do online banking. What a joke!

Amazing for overseas payment
This saved me in Japan when the payment for my travel card was getting blocked with other bank accounts as they were using SMS to verify my payment, but this app worked by itself and only needed the public wifi.
Does what it’s meant to
Great layer of 2FA security. Recently stopped a scammer from accessing my account so can attest that it does the job and then some. Love this bank!
Terrible app
Urgently need to make a transaction, told to download the app to verify but it keeps telling enable push notifications although it’s already enabled. Money gets stuck when you really need it!! Will not use this bank any more
