Great app

Read Rips book many years ago and have done the program on and off over the years, used the old app and now the newer version. It has been tremendously helpful in helping me attain my goals
Many thanks

Great app to start or get back into weightlifting

This app is a great meat and potatoes app to get into weightlifting. The free version (which I currently use) offers at least three to six months of starting workouts, form tips, and more. I’ve loved it for the past two months. Planning on upgrading to paid once I plateau with the beginning program.

Downgrade from V1

V1 stopped working. So I down loaded this one. Bad interface, and they charge you to break down the plates. The old version worked fine for those of us that like simple. Now I have to pay a fee just to have the app do math for me on which plates go on the bar which is silly money grab. Too bad.

Still haven’t fixed main issues with v1. This is a pass again.

Why keep tracking your workouts for free when you can pay $15 a month for bad UX? I left V1 originally because you couldn’t customize it, like at all. Well their “fix” for this was to add a custom logbook - which doesn’t overlay or connect to the original program at all - so it is basically just a parallel log? I can do that on my own? They need to develop an app that looks like train heroic. The only consistently good fitness app for UX. I know Rippetoe hates technology with a fiery passion for fashion, but yikes dude. Get with the times.

Response from developer

Thanks for the detailed feedback — the frustration is fair. You're right that the Free Log and the structured program run separately right now, and we're not going to dress that up. The ability to add assistance work directly alongside your programmed lifts is a real gap, not a framing issue. A lot of what you're describing is actually being addressed in v1.1.4, which is currently in beta. If you want early access, email us at customersupport@strength.club and we'll add you to the beta list — your feedback at that stage would genuinely help us get it right before it ships to everyone. The TrainHeroic comparison is a useful benchmark and we take it seriously. UX is an area we're investing in, and we'd rather hear specific criticism like yours than polite silence.

No health integration

Would be much better if it integrated with for example Apple health and the Iwatch to help track rest brakes and sets, etc., without having to have your phone on you. it’s been promised for a long time. It’s still haven’t published the capability. been putting my novice progression program and a StrongLifts to help track until this app becomes more usuable.

Response from developer

Thanks for sticking with the method despite the frustration — that's fair feedback. Apple Health and Apple Watch integration are in active development and included in our v1.1.2 beta right now, so it's genuinely close, not vaporware. We know "soon" wears thin when you've been waiting, and we're sorry it hasn't shipped to everyone yet. In the meantime, the rest timer on your phone is the most reliable workaround we can offer. If you want early beta access, email us at customersupport@strength.club and we'll see what we can do. Keep adding weight to the bar. — Starting Strength team
