  • Feels like a web app, only less responsive.

Every year or two, I start this up to see if it has improved.

As I recall, this used to be little more than a web view around the web app; which meant that it shared the lousy keybindings with the web app, and because the actual web app had a banner to redirect to the iPad App.

This last time around, it Is clearly different to the web app, but not in any useful way. Functionality is down, much harder to customise boards and such forth.
The real killer is the responsiveness. I found I had to click on issues three or four times before they displayed.
I’m not on the fastest internet, so it may be the app isn’t showing any visual feedback until it gets the details of the ticket, but showing visual feedback when waiting for remote resources is such a basic need in any mobile app.

  • So much potential but not intuitive

Jira is a great tool that has so much potential but it also misses so many essential functionalities such as being able to link an object in an email…

The App is also very hard to use, I don’t particularly like it. I can barely view my emails from it and the order of messages is the opposite from the web app which is confusing.

  • The best decision ever

The the ux on mobile is second to none. I’ve used many other PM solutions because I thought Jira would be too technical. While it is true it took a few weeks to understand how to create workflows, screen schemes, and user permissions… it was totally worth it
  • Cleaner than the Jira website but a few set backs

Great but the big set back is lack of automation buttons and the fact that my app keeps signing me out
  • Atlassian gets its iOS devs the same place it gets the rest of them

When I sit down and jokingly say to myself, let’s see if JIRA works today, I wasn’t expecting a resounding no. The projects and Home Screen are blank with no error messages. Am I logged out? Who knows, there’s no error messages and my profile picture is still displayed.

Just remember, everyone, your expensive licensing fees paid for this product from the supposed software development tooling experts.

  • App doesn’t even allow simple functions such as Planning Poker

App is limited. It’s obviously not taken seriously and just a second tier interface. If you want the full functionality you are forced to use the website, which is not mobile friendly. This makes the entire mobile story of Jira a horrible one.
  • Decent for quick updates

The mobile version of Jira is sadly lacking in features. You can create, modify, comment and perform basic adjustments to tickets. Anything advanced such as batch updates, Kanban boards, etc are not to be found here. Which is probably the point. Many of the more advanced features tend to require more screen real estate. Decent for sure for basic tracking but some basic features would be appreciated such as cloning.

  • Great

It’s great for community of software devs to have task in order to complete projects, only thing is they shouldn’t delete previous projects you have saved data in a month. There should be a saved backup folder of deleted projects that weren’t respond to because you put in so much work and forget about the project it shouldn’t be permanently deleted, because as a software dev there’s multiple projects you have to handle and handle back and forth.

  • A little functionality

When searching issues, it will only find tickets you’ve viewed already on the web. As you might imagine, frustrating that you have to use a computer to access tickets when you just want to view something quickly.
  • Missing Key Features

As a general rule, I prefer apps to websites on the iPad. Some great examples exist of FANTASTIC iPad apps. The Jira app COULD be great, but is just OK. The notifications are great, the functionality for comments and maintaining communication. But key features are missing that limit the usability of the application. For example:
    - You can’t really create/update filters in the app.
    - Completed tasks are ALWAYS shown in strike through, making the text very difficult to read
    - Sprint management and release management functionality is very limited.

To make this app great, I hope the developers take the existing web functionality and implement all of it, and then improve upon it with the performance and fluid UI advantages of a native app.
