  • Early days yet...

Only received today but impressed so far. Was straight forward to connect to wifi by following in-app steps. The quality of video looks good in daylight, trying night time at the moment. I turned off the infa-red lighting (which isn’t visible to the eye, but as I want to film through glass window if left on it will ‘bounce’ the light back into the lens. Having turned this off in setup the image through glass is fine and sharp, and if viewing street scenes which are lit by lamp posts the video is fine. Haven’t yet tried saving to SIM cards or the cloud. So far I’m very impressed.

If you wanna miss things and get things you don’t wanna see this is the camera for you. Period. The set up that I had before they change this cloud system was great it’s not anymore I wouldn’t suggest this for anybody. Period. Very strange bugs can fly out there and I can get them on my camera but a car with a trailer pulls past my house and it doesn’t get it at all I walked up walking the dog it doesn’t see me at all crazy I don’t know if that’s what you’re supposed to do but I’m thinking it’s not I think it’s supposed to catch the big things to it doesn’t do it I would not suggest you buying this this is not the camera for you it doesn’t catch the things you want to catch catches things you don’t wanna catch have a good day find someplace else to buy your camera this is not the one you want plus once they changed it around like I said it’s never been the same it’s never worked good I wouldn’t get the cloud if they gave it to me

  • Confusing and non-functional

I’ve had these cameras for about three years and they’re constantly glitching. The ‘cloud plan’ doesn’t update properly so it will show that you don’t have a cloud plan when you actually do, or it will say that your camera has already been ‘bound to another plan’ so you won’t be able to use it with the one you just bought? It will also not inform you if you already have one and accidentally try to purchase another so you end up double paying. There’s no rhyme or reason to the way the cameras connect for sync, it will constantly tell me there’s no cloud connection when I’ve bought the plan, if they go off when I’m not at home I’ll go to check on the house and it will glitch and say ‘no sd card inserted’ even though I have the cloud! I’m a millennial, I grew up with technology so there’s no disconnect on how I’m interpreting the app, it is truly just not user friendly, confusing and for the last few years is not worth the frustration

  • Useless on iPhone

Switched to iPhone from Samsung, notifications worked perfectly on Samsung but nothing on iPhone. Reading through previous feedback, I decided to turn on my old Samsung on to see if it was an app issue or if it was something else, the notifications are coming through as they should on the Samsung but nothing on iPhone. This is obviously an apple issue but needs sorting asap. Given there’s not even any feedback on any reviews, the company obviously aren’t bothered. There is a new app which I have downloaded, this doesn’t send notifications either, they obviously know there’s an issue as when you click on download app from the App Store, it doesn’t do anything but Google play goes right to it. In a nutshell, don’t buy a camera from this company if you are on iPhone!!!

  • Terrible update

The videos of alerts were readily available and easy to scan through until the latest update has made the cameras useless. There is no access to videos from the previous day and you must now watch the entire video before you can delete it even if you know what it is. This is especially frustrating when a spider web covers even a small portion of the field of view. Every 6 minutes all night long alerts happen and you end up with a library you either can’t access as they were before midnight or you must watch the whole thing. So then the alert indicator stays on forever. The tech dept seemed to be responsive then stopped caring and responding. The hardware is good, the app is horrible. UPDATE This has been getting worse. The alert goes off and the video shows no reason. And the newest alert doesn’t show up for viewing for many minutes so if there was a reason, it’s likely too late to do anything about it. SIMPLY WORTHLESS unless all you want is a dummy camera

  • Yi Camera apps

Nice apps, can connect to several surveillance cameras in one app.
  • GREAT CAMERAS

I can give a real review and an honest one because I have been using these cameras for over a year and I love theme. They have great video + night vision and the two way intercom is so handy for when I’m at work and need to quickly say something to someone in my home. I have theme in every room of the house up in each corner which covers most of the room and also two out front, one above the porch roof aimed at the street and one above the front door aimed at the porch. They have motion sensors as well as a load beeping alarm that u can set to go off when motion is detected. You would expect to pay way more for such quality cameras but they deliver the right stuff for the right price and I can’t complain about that. I use the ye 1080 p home cameras and the ye out door cameras but they have many other choices. Easy set up and install. (hang- plug-sync-play) or u can just set theme up on a table or night stand whatever u like. The app allows u to monitor All your cameras in one spot and with the cloud service u can always go back and see what u need to see. They also have a memory card slot so if u don’t want to pay for the cloud service u can just install the card and call it a day. They also hook to your smart devices like Alexa and google. Thank u YE AND I HOPE THIS REVIEWS HELPS SOMEONE OUT THAT WAS NOT SURE.

  • now subscription only

terrible company ethics. rebranded to kami and latest update removed SD card recording features so you have to sign up to their cloud subscription for your camera to work.
  • Good hardware, junk software

I have five of these little Yi cameras now and indeed they are good cameras. Impressive clarity and durability for the price. The original one I bought has survived repeated drops attempts at its destruction and a few cold winters and dusty summers outside. Good nightvision and motion tracking regardless of generation/model too. So the hardware is 10/10

The problem is the app. It gets worse by the year and is practically unusable as of late 2021. Time scrolling is clunky. Pinch zooming doesnt really work anymore. And frankly, the cameras often miss events I want to see and it has become near impossible to search and find those moments. Just terrible. Each update brings more bugs and less features. I have the $80 cloud plan too. Even if I went back to SD card only i have found the cameras reformat the cards in a way that my mac can no longer read them at all. I used to be able to format the cards in fat32 to make it easy but now the cameras reject that. A workaround is importing via ipad for whatever reason.

One or two of these is great for piece of mind or checking on your pet. But having five and the cloud plan is a waste.

  • Can’t delete videos

Latest update seems to have removed the ability to delete video leaving me awith a long list of small videos can’t tell which ones are the important ones.
