  • This is annoying

I’m a child but really parents why would you take away your child’s time time away from awesome games and being able to talk and play with your friends
  • Quite annoying

As a kid,I must admit that I am pretty addicted to my electronics so when my parents put screen time on my phone I didn’t mind it, I started paying attention at school and spent more time outside rather than stuck in my room messing around with my phone. The thing is screen time has this little thing that just makes me wanna screech in anger! You see one day when I was playing an online game on my phone with a few friends, my phone suddenly got blocked. I checked out the app to see what was going on and screen time just said “oops sorry screen time accidentally blocked your apps, tap here to get them back”. And I did as the instructions said, once I got my apps back and got to playing again the same darn thing happened, so I did as the app said. And it happened again, and again, over and over. Must I admit I did this for quite a while until I went to complain too my mom. And this is something that has been happening on the daily which is why I give screen time two stars.

  • Kids can work around app blocks

I appreciate the plan to block any and all apps on my teens’ phones, but unfortunately one of my teenagers was able to work around these blocks to her detriment. We blocked all social media and chat apps on their phones, but when they received notifications from either these apps or from text messaging, they were able to swipe that notification to view and reply regardless of whether it was outside of their time limit, past the bed blocker time, or completely blocked altogether. Furthermore, any usage of the app in this way was not recorded and reported in my daily screen time usage report. So we had no idea it was happening. My daughter was able to work around her app blocks and communicate with someone who turned out to be a predator on google hangouts for several months. Please help us keep our kids safer by tightening up security on your app.

  • 0 Stars Not An Option

Such a frustrating experience with them - including several of their tech support personnel and whoever works in billing. There was a problem with the app that couldn’t be fixed. I worked with them for months, going back and forth with emails, screen shots, following their directions to uninstall and reinstall the application numerous times (we have five kids, so multiply by five kid devices and two parent devices). In the end, they were unable to resolve the issue. I asked for a refund, and was told I would have to go through iTunes since my purchase was made through the App Store. They emailed me a link to specific instructions, which I followed. Because their attempts at resolving the issues had taken so long, it was beyond the number of days to be refunded. I was told I would have to file a dispute with iTunes against them since it was beyond the days to be refunded. After telling me that I could be refunded, Screen Time fought the dispute, which caused Apple Credit Card Services to reject my card number for fraud, and therefore turned off all of my apple accounts because it stopped payment on iCloud Storage. It has been a frustrating experience. I would recommend that people look at a different app that has been around longer and that has better guarantees for their customers.

  • It is SO buggy and it’s the worst app ever!!!

Hello I am a 10 year old girl and I got a new iPhone 10 a few months ago. So my mom set up parental controls on it. I had screen time on my old phone but it didn’t work so I was fine with it! But For months I have Ben saying that it was a super bad app! It was going out on me at like ALL of my zoom calls for school and extra activity’s but my mom said “no screen time no apps” it’s the worst thing EVER!!!! I know parents are reading this saying you need time off your phone if your so upset! But you need to see a kids side of the story NOT just YOURS!!!!!! I am on Vacation and there is not a lot to do but play on my phone I have Ben at the beach so I have a HUGE sunburn on my face shoulders and back so it will hurt me to do anything else, so I lay down on my bed and play games on my phone! Parents I know what your thinking but sometimes you can have your kid be mad and frustrated with this app and than they will get mad at you so please this app is misery and torture to some kids so just listen to your KIDS side of the story! Please!!!!!

  • Too buggy

This app has made my life miserable. I would rather have nothing at all to monitor screen time for my kid than to hear the constant crying when the apps disappear every 5 minutes - even when there should be 2 hours of time left on it for the day. The only way to get it working without an issue is to turn off the timer and put it in “free play mode” all the time, which basically gives them unlimited time and completely defeats the whole purpose of the app. It worked fairly well during the free trial (there were a few issues, but they were not unmanageable), but it seems like ever since I paid for a month of access the issues have been constant.

I was also under the impression that you could lock some apps but not others (like educational apps) when their time is up, but that is not the case. It’s all or nothing. I am canceling my subscription even though I just paid for a month of access two days ago because the constant crying and hassle of having to reset the app every few minutes is just not worth it to me. The iPad is only a year old and has the most current OS so I don’t know what the problem is. I will be looking for another screen time monitor that is not so buggy.

  • Horrible app, doesn’t work

My mom put this on my phone so i wasn’t up at night on it. She then deleted it from her phone because I didnt need it anymore. My phone stopped shutting down at night so that was good. I didn’t delete the app because I didn’t even know that my mom didn’t want to use it anymore. She told me she deleted it on her end, and so I tried to remove it from my phone. When I deleted the app I got a message that “i have swiped out of the app, open screen time to get your apps back”. I COULDNT OPEN SCREEN TIME BECAUSE I DELETED IT. All my apps were gone. I had to reinstall the app so that I could get them back. So now screen time is stuck on my phone forever and I cant delete it without all my other apps being gone too. Also, when you swipe out of your apps just to clear it, you can’t swipe out of Screen Time or it removes your apps. ALSO, even when screen time isn’t on my moms phone, the app just randomly shuts off all my apps. I have to go into the screen time app and wait like a whole minute to get my apps back. DONT GET THIS APP AND HELP ME REMOVE SCREEN TIME!!!!!!!😭

  • Great App

The app allows us to control our kids tablets. The scheduling and tasks are amazing and ensuring they are done with pictures is amazing. It’s very helpful all around. Time limits allow us to limit not only when but what they have as open as well. I honestly love seeing everything they download, to ensure they are not playing anything negative.

Some things I would like to see:

Across the board app lock out:
I would like the ability to type in names of apps for Screen time to lock out completely. I understand they have to be approved to be used. Having this extra lockout would be nice.

    Lockout message and time:
I couldn’t find if there was an option to set this. Seeing the message appear and disappear in five seconds, isn’t enough time or big enough on tablets. Currently it’s about 3 seconds. Being able to set the message to the main lock screen so they can clearly read it, when the locked window comes up, would be nice.

    Across the board Scheduling:
Knowing when a family has more than one child, they usually all have the similar apps. Being able to lockout a specific app or apps (example: Facebook, Roblox, Minecraft, etc..) to everyone on the list would be nice as well.

    Messaging:
a family message board or even child to adult(s) would be nice for distance, as well as. This would allow the kid to enjoy the app a little more, but I understand this takes away from physical talking a little. I believe it would make the app more fun, to younger kids. Strictly texting.

  • Not for iOS

I have installed and uninstalled this app no less than 5 times on my son's iPad mini over the past 18 hours to no avail. I have recreated him as user on the screentime management interface 3 times in an attempt to rectify and enable the app, but that did not work either. I even hard reset the iPad several times, still no luck.
First, the geolocation does not work, no matter what location settings are enabled. Turning it on and off, starting and restarting the app - nothing works so I gave that up as something that just does not work.
Then, the app installs on the iPad the first-time but then just minimizes itself the whole time so the user can't open the app. You have to uninstall the app and restart the device to install it again just to see the initial screen before it minimizes itself continously again.
Lastly, all games and apps installed prior to installing screentime then disappeared from the iPad. I installed the layout app as suggested in support documents - well I tried, layout app refused to install and made no difference regardless of how the installation instructions was followed. The only way I could get the apps back was to delete the screentime app, delete the profile it created and restart the iPad.
I tried to chat with support but they could also not resolve any of the issues.
The app may work on other operating systems but on an iPad mini, it's just more frustration than worth the cost.
    Not recommended for iPad mini.

  • THIS IS THE WORST APP EVER

One Saturday my dad made me get this app at first I was like ok he’s just managing how much time on using on my phone but I have OCD and if ur like me then u always need to swipe up to so u feel like ur organized but when I did it with the screen time app it deleted ALL my apps and when I go back to the screen time app to get all my apps back it mixes it them up and it annoys me very much because I have a folder for everything and seeing all my apps all mixed up makes me sad because I worked hard on trying to organize them into different folders. It also doesn’t let me go on safari to research things because I’m a curious 12 year old in middle school and sometimes I get in trouble for not doing what my teacher tells me to do because THE STUPID SCREEN TIME APP DOESNT LET ME GO ON SAFARI. It also has been tearing my family apart I rarely ever talk to my family anymore because I’m trying to fix the mess the app created. It also teaches kids to be sneaky and start lying and sometimes a bit sad because kids can’t talk to their friends. So parents, if ur reading please look for another app to manage how much time your child is using on their phone. Thank you and I hope this helped
