  • Wow thanks

What a wonderful experience! I’ve put maybe 8 hours on and off and I can’t seem to not want to play it. Truthfully I’m still at the 2nd part of the game and have gone through 4-5 Dungeoneers but heck just the journey and the joy of learning this game is great. If your looking for a card/board game. This is by far one of the best. The only I would really hope for would be some sort of multiplayer. I could for sure see it doable, by coop or vs. Either way great job devs. Seems you all sport beards and drink the finest of brews! Ciao

  • I'm... conflicted

After many games I think I've got my head around the idea that the dungeoneers are expendable and I understand the mechanics. My problems with the game are two-fold.

First, there are SO MANY texture error messages that lock the game. Nothing like dropping 30 minutes of gameplay because of a crash. Four times tonight alone. The iPad is a known quantity so there is no excuse for resource look-up errors.

Next, the math is weird sometimes. I will occasionally die even as a boosted character against level 2 monsters. I have yet to beal L2 of the second dungeon (loot 3 chests) because of weird endings.

Good game at $7 with a different mechanic. Very glad I didn't spend more on PC or Mac version. Just not sure it is one I'll remember I own in a month.

  • A great idea... moderately executed

There’s a great deal to like about this game. It’s fun, it’s novel, and it’s not too easy or generally too hard either.

When it’s fair that is - given some of the requirements for some dungeons (reach the eye beast in 9 turns or get petrified) are only randomly achievable - depending on whether or not you’ll actually get cards to reach the boss in time.

That’s not fun - that’s frustratingly silly. So are the bard’s voiceovers the designers seem to have fallen in love with (at least you can turn those off), and the choice to play the game at 3x, which means battles go faster but you have to miss all the dialogue that actually is decent.

So yeah - I still play, and I’d buy a v2.0 with some extra polish in a heartbeat. But I’m also regularly putting it down because the fun gets interrupted with annoyance just a little too often.

  • Great breath of fresh air

I usually cringe at games that have one or two symbols on a card. The gameplay on Guild of Dungeoneering is AWESOME - take it from someone who bought his D&D Basic Set in 8th grade. Somehow the game makes a large set of simple cards feel like intricate combat. Confused? Hold your finger over a card for a description.

If you've played M:TG you will know the drill - outdraw, discard, overpower or counter - but this game is its own milieu.

I hope there is an option to replay the bard for discovered stuff!

  • Great game

This is one of my favorite mobile games. It doesn't make you pay to win. It isn't time based so you can only do so much before you are done. The game play with cards and different characters is fun as well.
  • Very well polished game

This is a meaty game! There's a lot to dig into strategy wise and no two runs of the same dungeon will be the same.

There is very little hand-holding/tutorials, which I like, but may be offputting to some.

All of the dialogue, characters, and songs are really well done! I especially love he narrating bard. This game has obviously had hours of development out into it and t really shows. A true gem in the AppStore. Well worth the price.

  • Amusing, quirky game

Totally worth the small entrance fee. This has provided hours of amusement and at least a few genuine chuckles.

Gameplay is a combination of turn-based "card" duals, in which some characters offer the chance for more tactical play, and "building" dungeons by connecting hallways and rooms. You can earn more gold with every hallway; gold gets you new character classes, better loot drops, and little trinkets to help your dungeoneers stay alive. The amusing character commentary, ridiculous gear, and other tongue-in-cheek writing adds to the fun.

In sum, worth the small sum to play.

  • There is nothing else like this

The gameplay mechanic is unique to an iOS RPG, at least in my experience. The soundtrack is worth the price alone. It's hard to believe this didn't start out as a board game.

The writing is clever, a creative endeavor, that never ceases to delight. And now I return to the fight!

(you cannot go wrong getting this game)

  • A Cult Classic in progress

This is one of those rare games where the experience of playing it is more fun than the game itself. Designed by another team, it would not have nearly the character and memorability that it has. As is, it made me grin foolishly before I even began playing. Definitely worth looking at, and remembering next to other timeless classics.

  • Simple, Silly and Fun

100% worth the price. I would pay it again in a heartbeat. What a fun twist on a card game! Every system and piece of content in the game is fun and accessible. I often find myself laughing out loud at the humor. Even though the random chance aspects of combat mean there are lots of deaths, consequences for failure are minimal, and it never feels like you are losing progress. What a well designed and finely crafted experience. I've told all of my friends to check it out.
