  • Effective monitor

I really enjoy our Nanit monitor. It’s fairly accurate in determining and calculating when my baby falls asleep, is awake, or visited throughout the night. I appreciate that it comes with 1 year of basic insights. However, I think for the price, it should come with one year free of full insights. I think I would find more value in the insights and be more willing to pay for the subscription once the free trial ends. As it stands now, I probably won’t buy a years worth when this is up because I feel I really can’t determine if the insights are worth the cost (I think it’s $250/yr for full insights). Overall, the camera quality is good, the app is good (some glitches sometimes), and it’s worth buying the accessories. One of my favorite features is the ability to take it off the wall and travel with it. Other wall mounted baby cameras don’t do that. I do wish the insights worked when it’s not wall mounted. Again, would make it worth buying the insights if it did. I’d give the camera and app a solid 4 stars.

  • Will stop monitoring for semi-side or tummy sleepers

Nanit will disconnect and not reconnect, automatically. If my baby turns to his side, nanit won't be able to find the band until the baby moves again, which could be 10 minutes or longer. Sometimes it will time out and stop monitoring all-together, even though the band is in plain view. Nanit will also force updates, so if you happen to check on the baby multiple times a night, it may force an update, so you're baby will be without monitoring at 3 AM or whenever the forced update comes up.

Likewise, Nanit can disconnect and will be off all night without ample warning, even when the band is in full view, and it cannot automatically reconnect by itself. This can be frustrating, especially if/when internet goes down and the "local" network doesn't work right, and when my child covers the band from the camera's view by raising his legs in his woolino sleep sack and the camera can't read anything and thinks the baby was taken from the crib so it turns off and monitoring cannot begin until someone manually begins it, again. Personally, I would only recommend nanit for children over a year who are less at risk for SIDs. For infants, I def feel much better using the Owlet, which monitors constantly and was for me, much more reliable than nanit.

  • It’s given us peace of mind!

We started using Nanit over the summer when we welcomed our little babe. As first time parents we had major anxiety putting her in her room for naps and gradually for night time sleep - but being able to have the Nanit app on Night Mode right on my nightstand all night and checking up on her whenever I want without bothering her has been a heaven sent! Also, there are helpful tips that the app sends you based on your baby’s sleep patterns and encouraging chats you can enter to see what other parents are struggling with or what has helped them! The only slightly annoying thing is that occasionally the system gets confused and it alerts us of the wrong thing - for example: we get alerts that “someone is attending to the baby” when she’s only just moving in her crib, or will miss that we went in to check on her or help her go back down and say that she has been sleeping for longer than she actually has. Small detail but figured I’d mention. That didn’t start until 6 months into using it. Other than that, we are so happy to have bought the Nanit! The breathing band is truly everything and we use it for all naps and each night. Overall, we highly recommend!

  • Not just a monitor / A sleep training tool!

When I was pregnant I thought I might not need a monitor since we have a very small house where we can hear easily throughout. I bought a Nanit while it was on sale just in case. Of course I discovered it is nice to have one when you want to step outside for a minute or see (not just hear) what’s going on. However I had no idea what a tool Nanit would be to our sleep journey! With the new update, Nanit has several features like showing you a count of how long baby has been laid down for or how long he’s been asleep on the main screen. It also captures videos of each event like: baby being laid down to bed, taken out, records entire naps and nights and allows you to view them for 48 hours with an option to save if you want. It gives you analytics of your child’s sleep (time in bed and time asleep separated for night and day) and celebrates the sleep milestones they reach. It has been wildly helpful in sleep training and just plain parenting. Once set up, you can check in on your baby in the nursery from anywhere - say you’re at work and baby is with a nanny. I have no problems with wireless connection and would recommend it to anyone.

  • Insights aren’t inclusive of breastfeeding moms, company is biased towards formula

***This is a review of the app, not the camera, which is amazing.*** The app overall is pretty good. I have some connectivity issues but that’s due to my WiFi connection. What I dislike most about the app is the extremely expensive premium membership. The sleep data provides nothing that I don’t already know. I am well aware that my baby had a bad night because I was the one who was up with her. The “insights” provide no solutions for exclusively breastfed babies. I would love for nanit to tell me how I can measure how many ounces of milk my baby is eating when she’s latched at night and then tell my pediatrician why I need to reduce her feedings. There are other less expensive apps that provide actual sleep support with customized plans after logging 3 days of sleep data. I feel that this is the very least that nanit should be providing with their “premium” membership. I also think that the breathing wear is a huge scam. Do not buy unless you want to pay $100 extra to use it!!

  • My peace of mind

Nanit has been the most useful baby item imaginable. Our son has been sleeping in his crib since he was 3 days old. The breathing wear puts my mind at ease, I can roll over in the middle of the night and see that he’s ok. We experienced one red alert, maybe when he was a month or two old, and luckily he was perfectly fine, but we still are fans of how the alert went off and really got us moving. I absolutely love the tips that pop us in our messages with recommendations on what to try and do according to his age, it’s very helpful & gives me the reassurance that I’m doing the right thing. We like how Nanit keeps track of how our son slept, it’s helpful to know how much sleep he’s getting & by looking at a weekly glance we can understand him better. My husband loves the portable stand, he uses it when our son falls asleep during the day instead of moving him. Absolutely love our Nanit, wouldn’t change a thing. And I recently got the sleep sacks! I was very excited when those came out.

  • I have 2 of them And I love them

I purchased the first Nanit over 4 years ago with our first baby girl, I still use it it works great. I bought the newest version in June for my second baby that was due in July. The camera is way more advanced and we are enjoying every bit of it! The app is so easy to use, and you can switch through the cameras if you have more then one in a second. The notifications are on point, love the fact that you can see the temperature humidity, you can have a night light that’s so dim but perfect if you wanna check on the baby or change her. Love that you can speak to the baby, that’s a new add for us and the fact that they offer also natural sounds/music. I love it! I know it’s a bit pricey but it’s so worth it! It grows with your child and it’s so easy to use and to track all the changes and developments your baby goes through!

  • So many issues

Update: apparently the breathing band does not work without paying for Nanit insights, what a load of crap

The tracking/algorithm on this doesn’t work if baby doesn’t wake up in the morning in their bed, that makes it log the first and sometimes second nap of the day incorrectly, to correct that issue and get accurate sleep stats for the day you HAVE to allow Nanit to view the video you cannot just correct it yourself. Additionally there is no way to log if your baby takes a nap outside of his crib, like on a stroller or a contact nap, so that very fancy sleep summary is inaccurate and there is no way to fix it. In our sleep training efforts we tried a floor bed and some parental assistance of holding baby while baby falls asleep, this also broke the software and there was no way for me to fix it and mark when baby actually fell asleep. I was so sold on this when I was pregnant but now that I’m 10 months into it and almost at the end of me free year I will absolutely not be being to continue and I’m very upset we wasted so much money on what is essentially an overpriced monitor with connectivity issues.

  • Don’t hesitate, do it! Best decision ever!

We had the old school baby monitor, no video, with our first child. They are 5 years apart and when we found out we were expecting our surprise baby, we decided for peace of mind, we would invest in the Nanit. There are so many other options out there that are good, but Nanit was by far the best. I travel a lot for work and being able to check on my baby from literally ANYWHERE in the world is pretty incredible. I also love the breathing wear options they have to give you that piece of mind while you are sleeping. If their breathing is off or they stop breathing altogether, you will get an alert on your phone that you cannot sleep through. It sounds like a weather alert or an amber alert and just sounds off until you turn it off. I also love how they keep up with milestones and they provide tips based off baby’s age.

I tell all my friends and family who are expecting. Peace of mind, doesn’t come with a cost. It’s an investment for peace filled sleep and lots of precious memories you will capture with it.

Do not hesitate any longer. Do it. Buy it. Buy the whole bundle. It’s worth EVERY PENNY!

  • Excellent

I don’t have any negatives! People say baby cams can be hacked but we have never had that problem. It really eased my mind having this when we first moved the baby to the crib regularly at 4 months. I was able to watch him from my phone or check on him during the night without leaving my bed. It’s nice that you can talk through it too. My fiancé and my mom both have access, so when we are away from home, we can still watch on our phones. Grami pops on the camera in the morning before work and talks to the baby and they both love the bonding. We get an alert if there’s movement, so I know if one of our pets is bothering him (never happened but it’s nice to know we will be alerted!)
You can watch clips of the night and the camera can track how long he sleeps, and provide other days and tips on what we can do to help improve our routine.
