  • The best Baby item we own!

I’m so happy we splurged and purchased the Nanit. I love being able to check in on our baby no matter where I’m at. Last week I had to be out of town while my husband watched our son …he was worried he wouldn’t hear the baby in the middle of the night. While I was in the hotel miles away I was able to help monitor and call my husband when the baby woke up for a night time feeding. It was so nice not to feel “disconnected” even though I was so far away.

My two other favorite features are the nightlight and white noise. I believe both of these features have given us our great success in sleep training. If our Baby wakes in the middle of the night for a feeding the night light is so soft, it doesn’t give him too much stimulation where he springs fully awake. The white noise is so peaceful - our little guy loves the birds.

I cannot recommend this item enough! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Best choice we made

We were told to put this on our registry because it was the bee’s knees and it absolutely is. I love how the first year it gives you insights and memories and stuff you would never be able to have with another camera. The picture is very clear and I’m absolutely thankful for the recommendation I got early in the game. This camera has been so useful. It even has alerts for when it gets too cold or hot or the humidity is out of range for an infant (which could lead to sids). It also records how much they slept each night so you can understand how their naps should be during the day. There is also a nap calculator that you can revisit each month to make sure you can adapt your schedule. I honestly really love it. The only flaw I can point out is my camera gets stuck on night mode often. I really don’t mind because I only really need it for the night. All in all I love this camera, it’s made the journey with my first child much easier.

  • Would be 5 stars, but we’ve had some issues.

We bought our Nanit since our neighbors have one. They raveeee about it. Ours worked for a little and then couldn’t stream or connect? So we had customer support send us a new one. But it took some work... mean while we were without a monitor. (Talk about an anxious mama). Few weeks ago we had issues with our new one. Which is only a few moths old. We couldn’t get it to connect to our phones after it had been working just fine. Went through all the steps over and over and it finally worked. Mind you, we had to do this all in our littles room since he was sleeping. So not was I mad but I had to be super quiet and obviously the monitor is above his bed. We ended up having to use the travel stand which is not directly above him. With our daughter we had a standard monitor, which of course didn’t have as good of a quality picture but we never had connectivity issues when she was sleeping. And I never had to try and diagnose the issue fearing of having to go to bed without the motion on. Other than that, it’s great. It’s super frustrating when it stops working. For something so expensive we shouldn’t be having issues.

  • Constant connectivity issues. Wouldn’t recommend

Worked well for the first 6 or so months, but now gives constant headaches with the never ending interruptions (child is almost 13 months old now). It disconnects at least once a day, and sometimes at night, which makes you lose the Nanit insights and you miss when your child fell asleep and woke up. It’s gotten so consistently terrible that the camera has been plugged into a switch outlet with the switch near my child’s bedroom door so that I can reset it more easily when it loses connection. Pretty soon it’ll be connected to a smart switch so I don’t even have to leave the couch for a reset. How convenient!

The poor connection issues are NOT coming from my end, and the trouble shooting guide is not helpful. My wifi is stellar, and none of my other devices and cameras have issues anywhere near as frequently as this. It hardly ever shifts to a local connection like it says it should when connection issues arise. The pros are that the picture quality is great, and I like that I can see her wake ups and when she falls asleep so that I can keep her on a good sleep schedule. It’s also convenient to be able to pull up the camera whenever and wherever (cellular or wifi).....but other than that, I would not recommend this product. The 5 star reviews confuse me. My child will soon be learning how to talk like a sailor with how many times I audibly curse about the camera. Thanks, Nanit!

  • Best thing ever.

I have 4 kids. My kids have all co slept with me except for my 4th. I was ready to have my bed back and my sleep back. I never put the other 3 in their own room due to fear. With this monitor my daughter has been sleeping in her own room since she turned 3 months. She has slept so amazing and the advice I have gotten from the app made the transition that much smoother. I will sit in my room with my husband watching our show while I watch her sleep. I love watching her put herself to sleep. I have been able to put her back to sleep by shhhhshing her from the intercom. I have captured moments between her and her father and her brothers that I saw when they thought I wasn’t watching. I am going to be purchasing the breathing band and the sleep sack as I think having that additional peace of mind knowing her breathing will take this to the next level for me. My sisters in different states can watch her sleep. My mom can watch her. My husband can talk to her when he’s at work through the intercom if she wakes up while I shower. I absolutely love this monitor. 10/10 recommend. My only suggestion would be to be able add in when they fall asleep and for how long for better sleep Analysis. She doesn’t always sleep in her crib and if I don’t have her in her crib it will say that I put her to sleep late when she infect is just asleep in her crib in my room. But still the best thing ever!

  • Amazing, but room for improvement

Nanit Insights is such an amazing idea, and implemented well for the most part. I think there is room for improvement, though. Three features I would LOVE to have:

    1. Ability to manually change/add an insights event. If WiFi disconnects or the camera glitches, it sometimes completely misses me taking my baby out of the crib. I would like to be able to add a manual record of when she woke up so that her sleep totals are accurate.

    2. Tracking wake windows - similar to Huckleberry, suggest the timing of the next nap based on when the last wake up was. Or ability to set a schedule for the day with reminders from the app. This would be super helpful for other caregivers who aren’t super familiar with schedules or the concept of wake windows.

    3. “Snooze” function - ability to mute the background audio for a set period of time, like 10 minutes for example. My baby sometimes cries in her sleep or wakes up for only a minute before going back to sleep. If I hear her wake up on the monitor, I could “snooze” and mute, go back to sleep, and the audio could turn back on in a bit in case she isn’t back asleep. This would also be so helpful for sleep training.

Overall, I love Nanit and I recommend it to everyone. But I would like to see more helpful features rather than some new crib sheet that measures how tall baby is. That is not helpful to me at all.

  • Good...most of the time

You research a ton of cameras/breathing monitors for your child and you feel that you have finally made the right decision. You set it up at home and somehow you need both WiFi and Bluetooth...ok, seems excessive but hey “it’s for my child” so let’s do this. It works most of the time but constantly needs to buffer and sometimes says that he/she is moving around in the crib while your at the store (with your child) seems weird but ok. They say you can bring it with you to your in-laws and set it up with their WiFi but nope...you get constant errors and no camera so you are on your own. No camera, no breathing and no sleep because you have developed a dependency on the nanit. Very disappointed with the mobility of the system. I bought the extra stand to take with us on trips/outside the house and it is absolutely useless. We have resorted to a $50 baby monitor while we are not at home which is fine but due to the lack of breathing monitoring, my wife and don’t sleep as sound as we could. Too bad Nanit has to be so “complex” all the time that is can’t connect to a system via Bluetooth only or WiFi that is not on full gigablast.

  • Overall happy, minor improvements could be made

We are enjoying using the Nanit for our baby. Overall we have very few complaints. If we had to make changes, we would probably make the power cord longer (we live in an older house and outlets are far and few in between and having a good wall to support the camera + an outlet close by proved to be difficult.)
The camera back is a bit short so it doesn’t get to be directly over our baby. It still tracks her sleep patterns and everything we NEED but it is off in terms of her placement in bed/movement/etc.
The music, while great, is super loud on your phone when you’ve got the night mode turned on. Even if you have it quieter in the nursery (almost so quiet you can’t hear it) it’s extremely loud on your phone and that’s a bit obnoxious. We don’t use that feature because of it.
The nightlight is pretty useless too. Maybe better when she’s a bit older and we aren’t using a night light to see during night feeds and avoiding turning on her nursery light, but currently it’s not at all bright enough.

  • Unreliable, poor interface, critical feature are subscription based

    1. System needs significant internet bandwidth to function without really good internet and network gear the system will not reliably work.
    2. App is slow to load and uses a significant amount of battery. The interface on the app is terrible, after starting breathing monitoring you need to exit the app as the video resizes to a cropped view and the only way to fix it is to restart the app every time you use it.
To turn on the background noise on you need to be in full screen mode. This seems minor but as a parent these things wear on you after doing them multiple times a night/day.
    3. Breathing monitoring bands/swaddles are sold separately and are not cheap, after you have your account active for a year you will no longer be able to use the breathing monitoring feature with out subscribing.
This is the only feature that makes this product standout, so be prepared to pay the subscription fee and buy breathing monitoring swaddles on top of the expensive camera if you want to use this feature.

  • Fantastic for smart homes

We love the Nanit! Such a peace of mind too. Our LO went to the crib at 12 weeks and the Nanit helped my mama brain relax so much. I didn’t use the breathing features the first 12 weeks because I was so worried about false alarms waking us all up and he was a pretty good sleeper. We’ve never had a false alarm since then (7.5 months now). The only set back is, he now sleeps with a lovey and if it lays on his stomach and blocks the breathing wear only a small text like ding lets me know (I sleep through it). This has only happened twice though. No way around it, except that I do wish the period to wait for the Breathing wear was longer. For example, during teething we sometimes have to walk around for an hour and I have to remember to restart the breathing wear before I zombie back to bed. Again, overall love it and I recommend to all my friends! The sleep sacks are probably my favorite accessory! It’s great for the grandparents’ houses. The only time it didn’t work was when we stayed at a bed and breakfast 2 room suite and their internet didn’t have a password.
