  • Nice camera, UI could be better

We purchased the insights membership recently; it’s nice to be able to look back on the night but I feel compared to our nest cameras it could be better. For instance on the nest I can scroll back indefinitely to see any and all footage captured; on nanit you only get the high speed summary video and anything it deemed noteworthy. Also despite having an excellent 1Gbps internet connection and oversized wireless AC network we seem to bounce between one and two bars of signal with signal loss? I’ve completed the troubleshooting steps to no avail. We will definitely keep it but are definitely hoping they improve the software back end to make it a little more reliable. Also the nest cameras have two way communication standard- we (foolishly) assumed the nanit would too; apparently you need to buy the plus model for that. Had I known about the lack of two way we would have passed on it altogether and purchased another nest camera for a similar price.

  • Pros and Cons but overall happy

I love the convenience of being able to access the live video feed from my phone even if the WiFi goes off. The picture and sound quality is amazing. It’s really versatile and easy to manage. However, I wish it really had a “cry meter” to detect the intensity of the cry or sound in the room without having the sound up. Also, I really wish it had a way to change the sound of the notification because it sounds like any other notification which can be confusing if you have push notifications turned on from other apps... thus, Nanit is the only notification I have enabled so I don’t confuse it with anything else. Lastly, you sometimes have to worry about a “connection lost” signal that completely kicks you off the live feed and if you’re a sleep that’s a downside because you won’t know until you wake up to trouble shoot the app or reload the app. Overall I’m happy with the purchase I would recommend this product.

  • Overall GREAT monitor!!

The camera itself was super easy to set up & the app is mostly reliable. At times there are connectivity issues, but overall we have been very happy with this camera & app. This is our 3rd baby monitor. The 1st (not a Nanit) was recommended by a family member & had so many stability issues so we had it replaced by the manufacturer. The replacement was just as awful, so my husband did some research and came across the Nanit. We won’t ever use another monitor!

One thing I do wish the app had was the ability to cycle through video feeds for those with multiple cameras. We have 2 littles, so have 2 Nanits. Monitoring both requires having 2 separate devices open to the Nanit app. It’s not a huge deal, but is also kind of a pain in the booty. Each night we tie up my iPad & iPhone so that we can keep an eye on both babies. Most basic monitors have the ability to cycle back and forth between different camera feeds, so I hope your developers will consider adding this feature.

  • Really great monitor, some minor issues

By and large, this is an excellent baby monitor and app. The picture is very clear, it was incredibly easy to set up, and the app is very reliable. I no longer use a serrated app to track sleep because this is so accurate.
That said? There are a few issues. Occasionally the app doesn’t connect to the monitor. This is an issue when I’m trying to turn on or off the light to change a diaper or not disturb a sleeping baby. I have to open and close the app half a dozen times before it works. This happens a few days a week. It also should be possible to toggle night vision on and off. Sometimes there is clearly enough light in the room for the camera to be in standard mode, but it auto changes to night vision anyway. That’s a bit annoying. The price of the app is also obscene, especially when the camera is already so expensive. I’m hoping the year of insights included will more than take us through sleep training so it won’t be an issue, but it still seems like a slap in the face after buying such an expensive monitor.

  • BEST Monitor EVER!

We can’t get enough of the amazing new features that Nanit offers! Babies make SO many noises while they sleep and so having the Nanit Baby Monitor allowed me to look over and check on him but also be able to go right back to sleep so I actually got a lot more sleep then friends with other monitors and I was well rested to take care of him when he woke. The other feature I love is the data insights that helped us especially when we first had our son to track his sleep and create a schedule that worked best for him. Being sleep deprived and juggling the many new tasks at hand this was so helpful to have already logged for us so we didn’t have to track it ourselves. While sleep training our son it was so important for us to be able to make sure he was okay even when he was initially upset and had to learn to put himself to sleep. Nanit gave us great sleep training tips to help guide us too! He was sleep trained in 3 days! And I never forget to pack our multi-stand when going overnight somewhere!

  • Awesome baby monitor for at home!

We LOVE our nanit. We didn’t sign up for insights until baby starting sleeping in her crib at night (the camera is mounted in our nursery) but loved the camera even without the insights. Now that we have the insights I don’t have to keep track of anything!! Nanit tells me when she was put down, fell asleep, woke up, etc. we also set temp alerts since I’m always worried about her being too hot or too cold.. the picture quality is awesome and I can check in on her wherever I am. Now that I’m back at work I often look at the camera while she’s napping :) I will say we have another baby monitor we use for travel (infant optics) since the nanit isn’t easy to move around. The two monitor solution works well for us but it would be nice if we could find one that served all our needs. Overall, we love our nanit and it has made teaching our babe how to sleep independently that much easier!!! Worth the money.

  • App crashes - hard time getting customer support

Two weeks ago I would have given nanit a five star, now maybe a 2.... there have been so many issues recently with the app I can’t count. It freezes up (video stops but unless you look carefully you can’t tell just think your kid is sleeping peacefully. But the clock/time stops moving too so that’s how you know it’s frozen) it happened 4 times in a 36 hour period including twice in the middle of the night on all three devices (husband and my phones and ipad). The app crashes for no reason. The other night it just went offline for 2 hours. Husband had to go unplug it for 3 minutes and plug back in during the middle of the night in babies room. Seriously, what’s the point having all the bells and whistles when you can’t do the basic function with 100% accuracy. Up until 2 weeks ago I was singing nanits praise, telling everyone how awesome it is. Now, I am ranting on an app review. Worst of all you reach out to customer service and they tell you that it must be your internet connection or to unplug and restart the cameras (in the middle of the night? Really?) i am so done....
