Crashes every time when trying to clean photos
I’ve paid this subscription for three months and not once has this app worked to clean the duplicates and similar images in my phone. The app claims about 14k similar images have been found, and when the button to clean is pressed a spinner is shown for five minutes until the app finally crashes without deleting anything. I’ve tried reinstalling, updating my phone, deleting some big videos and apps manually…nothing helps. I’ve also tried contacting support but they’ve been of no help at all. I have multiple tickets about the same issue, from the app and from their website, and they never reply with a solution, only automatic responses. Great app!
This is the first ever app review I’ve done - so that alone should tell you something. I ran out of iCloud storage so I started manually going through my photos (without the app) and got quickly overwhelmed. I searched the App Store and found Gemini Photos - I downloaded it and started using. I was instantly shown similar photos, duplicates, screenshots, and more. The app walks you through finding photos and showing you similar photos and recommends the best ones to keep and easily trash the other. Within just a few minutes I was deleting 100s of photos with ease! I bought the monthly subscription and am still deleting some photos but this app makes it so easy and almost fun! Does not delete duplicate photos
I found 100’s of duplicates in my over 22,000 photos and this app found zero. So I purchased it thinking it won’t until I pay for it. So I paid for it. Closed the app several times and reopened it and still shows zero duplicates. What a rip off.
Tried to contact developer about the issue and their response was to go to the link they emailed me to chat with a persons that would help resolve my issue. Well the link is bogus and doesn’t work. What a scam. I would not waste my money on this app. I asked for a refund because I have canceled my subscription and deleted the app. It probably won’t happen. Good thing I am only out $5. Pretty good scam though if you do that to thousands of people. This app is false advertisement. It does not delete duplicate pictures. It can’t even find them!Show lessbblake38
Not free at all
$50 yearly subscription payment. Mind boggling that the developers thought this would be reasonable for an app you’d use once every couple years? Feel sorry for any suckers that fall for the 3 day free trial into instant monthly payments… Shame.JustinKyleEvanOrr

Gemini Photos is in a free category because it offers an in-app purchase plan and can be installed for free, so users could try it out before making their decision about the purchase. It offers a three-day unlimited trial. According to App Store rules, apps that offer an in-app purchase model are sold in the free category. The information about the free trial is available under the Subscription and Pricing section in the description of Gemini on App Store. You can also see prices in the Information section under In-App Purchases.Another lying app. Doesn’t do as claimed.
So I just downloaded this app and then went to check the terms and conditions. Just by clicking that and not the accept button it signed me up for a contract anyway. You have to then pay for other apps alongside this to make it work!
What a con!
It’s not worth getting and then they have access for however long- violation of my rights.
2 mins into it and deletes a photo that wasn’t even a duplicate! I emailed them to cancel my subscription. 2 mins after it signed me up even though I didn’t sign it.
And it’s an internal email on their app, so you know what problems that will cause!
The other thing is apple recommended it, so did cloudward! Will think twice.
Apple have lost all credibility. The quicker I get rid of this phone, the less likely I’ll be conned!

No support
There are some small issues with the app which are making it unusable - flashing and blurring in certain folders as well as being unable to sort small amounts of the screenshots folder at a time because if you un-select and then selectively choose which ones to delete, it then re-selects thousands of photos that you’ve not reviewed. I reached out to support through the app over a week ago asking if there was anything I could do differently or settings I could change to make the app useable, and have followed up since then twice via email and once via messenger, and no one has bothered to respond. I agonised over spending so much on an app, but with such a huge photo library to sort out I eventually decided to spend the $60, which was no small amount for me. I’m pretty gutted because that money is feeling wasted now, as it’s disappeared into nowhere with an app I can’t use and a non-existent support team.
Update: I see you’ve replied, I would like to reiterate that I’ve already reached out, a total of 6 times in fact, and this review response is the only place I’ve been acknowledged. No one has replied to any of my emails or messages.Show lessMissyable

I absolutely love Gemini and I even paid the for the lifetime membership. That said, that cost should include the Mac app. Both apps do the same thing to the same exact destination (iCloud), but I should be able to access the Mac app as well for that subscription cost without having to pay another subscription cost. People are already paying you on a regular basis, so at least give them the option of sorting through their photos on MacOS or iOS without making them pick between a platform.Show lessAlyssaRP
Good idea
The reason I’m giving this app a 3 is because there is supposed to be a free 3 day trial. This is false. I would pay for a month to do what this app does as it’s built well and probably does what it says but I literally wasted 40 mins going through my library picking photo doubles to delete and once I had 400 in the trash I was hit with a paywall. The “trial” actually has zero functionality and can’t make any changes to your data. So for false advertising I deleted the app. Thanks for wasting my time. I don’t need a $40 a year sub to manage my duplicate photos.Show lessm1sterpunch

I was dismayed to discover that the app seems to only work with photos stored locally on a device. Who leaves all the photos on a device? Anybody with any sense keeps them on the iCloud or on Google Photos. The app was totally useless to me and I got stuck with a week’s subscription.jvangurp
