  • Nothing but problems

We bought the Lorex cameras about a year ago. Its never quite worked right. We have constant issues viewing the playback, it constantly locks me out, wont let me view any of the camera views and says my password is incorrect even after I’ve changed it. I deleted the app reinstalled it and now the new version constantly asks for my password to view anything and every single time it says wrong password! I can’t view anything on any of the 4 cameras and now the latest issue is the one time I did get to view a playback the cameras are showing upside down! I l’ve never seen a camera system with so many issues. Friends who have other brands of camera systems have never had these issues. I don’t recommend this product at all and definitely read reviews before you purchase any camera system. I’m sticking to consumer reports from now on!!

  • Great WiFi surveillance cameras!!

Bought these for an up north cottage (3pack for $99 @ Costco!). They were super easy to set up and now I can remotely view 3 different rooms/areas from my cellphone. They detect motion, noise, persons. LOVE these!!! They are stylish..white (blends right in with our white walls) and comes with components that allow you to install them mounted on the ceiling. We purchased the plug in kind so we wouldn’t have to worry about a battery running out. We’ve had them for over a year now and have had absolutely no issues. FYI…I did a lot of research before buying.

  • iPad issue

I has been working very well with my iPad however in the last few days, maybe after an update, I don’t get full screen on my iPad which was very helpful and one of the best options that I had with Lorex system
I may consider changing to Swan or another system if not fixed

  • Mediocre

Just bought a new Lorex system at Costco because I had a prior Lorex system at my last house and liked it. The system itself is great and I’m happy with the cameras and other hardware so far but the Lorex Home app is disappointing. It works nice on my phone but there is no iPad version, only the iPhone version. My last Lorex system must have used another app because I was able to use the iPad to view the cameras. You can load the iPhone version on an iPad but the dimensions keep the phone dimensions so you gain nothing in screen size by using your iPad! Furthermore, and even more importantly, it seems that you can only login to your cameras on one device at a time. If I try to log in on the iPad (despite the small display) it logs me out of the iPhone. When I need to quickly check my cameras because something might be happening, I don’t want to have to log in again because I was logged out by using another device. I didn’t have this issue with my prior Lorex system (which used the Lorex cloud app I believe) so I’m not sure why a newer system has a worse app supporting it.

I know Lorex can do better! Please upgrade the Lorex Home app to have a native iPad version and also allow to login on more than one device.

Hey Sir Vid, Lorex Home now offers device sharing option, to allow different accounts to view a camera. To set this up, please tap the three dots for the camera you would like to share, navigate to 'shared users' and follow the on screen setup. Thanks!
  • Good enough.

    1. The live view stutters badly, and seems to have to reload a lot, especially when there’s motion on the video.

    2. The the timeline video seems to stutter quite a bit too, especially when there’s motion on the video.
My internet is over Ethernet, and the down is 200mbps, and the up is 25mbps.

    3. If you’re viewing a timeline or live video, and you are zoomed into the video, if it stutters/reloads, it will zoom back out and go

    4. The audio (maybe not this apps fault) is practically useless because the quality is so horrendous. This goes for live view and timeline video.
Interestingly, if your camera has two way audio, the quality of playing audio is acceptable on the camera, but the the camera recording the audio is awful.
    I’m using Lorex cameras E891AB.

    5. The events tab where you can see clips where motion was detected, the clips often times miss out on the first 5-10 seconds motion was detected. So if a car passes by, the clip will only record maybe the last half of a second the car was in view.

    6. The motion zones don’t work. You’re supposed to select areas of the screen where if motion is detected, you’ll get notified, but of course this doesn’t work.

  • Anyone having trouble with the app?

I posted a review a couple days ago and after reading responses to other peoples’ problems with the app it seems as though the same response is used over and over again - that it’s a network problem and to move the camera and other hardware closer to the modem. If it worked before and the cameras and other hardware haven’t moved why did it stop working? I do hope you work on your app and get it to work more efficiently. I share the Lorex home account with my nephew and it’s worked fine on my iPhone up until a couple of weeks ago. I can no longer access the live view on any of the cameras. I get alerts that there is motion at a certain camera but it will not load on the app.I tried on my phone’s data, 2G, and 5G. It worked on the data and 2G before. I sent an email to the company and was told that it’s a network issue. Nothing has changed with my network but your app no longer works.

  • Great Camera systems. Great Company. Love it.

I have been using Lorex security camera systems for more than 10-years now, and have 8 different camera systems over the years, both for businesses and homes usage, I must say LOREX has a reliable, high quality but at low or reasonable price. I can’t praise them enough.
When you have the protection plan and happens to talk to their “technical support”, you will quickly realize that they know their stuff. Very knowledgeable and experienced. I can’t praise them enough. All I can say is that I love their camera systems and their technology.

  • Excellent WiFi camera System

Tried all of the different WiFi camera system and I can say that Lorex is superior to and exceeds their competitors. Customer service is great. Had some defective cameras. Got a replacement right away. If you read the instructions and know your he WiFi limitations than you will not have any issues. I never did. Had to get a WiFi extender to make one camera work snd it works perfectly. What I love about the system is that if it has to reboot for a power outage or if for some reason the WiFi is offline, once the power is on, I do not have to do anything. The cameras automatically log back on. The App works flawlessly. Notifications and replays works as they should.
I also have a video door bell which I love. Works as advertised.
Plus I believe that the price is very competitive.

  • Works ok, just not in an emergency

Like the app mostly. It works well sometimes but the things that are failing are really annoying. For example, it is extremely frustrating to try and zoom in on a playback and then have it lose connection (this happens frequently). You then have to wait for it to be reloaded and try and zoom in on what you were looking at again, before it crashes again. “Oops. Something went wrong!” is not the message I ever want to see, and I see it a lot. The app is also very slow to load up a live view. If you hear something outside, you want to know what is happening THEN — not in 15 or 30 seconds. It’s very frustrating to not be able to see what is going on in those urgent situations and you are away from the console. The clarity of picture is good. I like that you can pick out the places where you want motion detected and you have the option to deactivate the automatic lights on individual cameras—these are big pluses. A negative is that the motion recording might capture movement in the last two seconds of a recording event, so that means you have to watch the entire 30 second recording for a partial recording of an event and then switch modes to download the whole day’s activity and locate the correct time stamp to see the rest. I also wish you could watch videos on fast forward like you can with the console. The white cameras can be camouflaged if necessary. Definitely download the 100+ page manual and go through it. Overall, I like the system a lot. I’m pretty frustrated with the app, though, which is what I rely on the most.
