  • Appallingly Bad

    It was impossible to set up this app even after dealing with 3 representatives on the phone and via chat who were all arrogant and unable to resolve the HSBC problem. Now I understand why there are so many negative reviews for this app. At this point even if I could set it up I wouldn’t trust using it since even their “experts” don’t have a clue. This is a reflection of the fact that HSBC is really not interested in US personal accounts and are closing most of their branches. After 30 years I will take my business elsewhere where the technology is current and they appreciate me. After writing this review the developer contacted me asking that I call Customer Service for assistance! I think that my previous 3 attempts mentioned above is enough frustration for a lifetime.

  • Update has dropped the score.

    I have UK and USA apps and for some reason the USA app has been updated so it doesn’t show a running balance for each transaction. Really really annoying! Can you please change it back and you can get 5 stars.

    Rest of the app works great no complaints.
  • What a disappointment!

    I’ve been using the HSBC app since it became available & every time there’s an update I have a problem getting the app to work. I spend more time with the HSBC Premier team on the phone & nothing helps. Just an hour ago, I wanted to deposit a check on the app & it’s not working. The rep on the phone asked if she can call me back in 2 hours, after she checks if there’s a problem with the system. When I offered to delete & reinstate the app, she said it wasn’t necessary, but either way, I can’t deposit my check on the app & need the funds this week!

  • Horrible App

    HSBC needs to let me see my pending transactions and returns made on my HSBC checking account I know the features that should be added is where you can report you card or lock your card if it’s stolen misplaced or lost so if you find it you can unlock your card also I think the app should let you open additional accounts instead of calling in all the time or stepping into a branch I also think that instead of a overdraft credit account the bank should let Custumers overdraft it instead of custumers running their credit just to overdraft that’s crazy also I think this app should enable us to place a stop on checks if someone wasn’t authorized to do it and I also think there should be a feature where we can add our cards to Apple Pay or google pay without having the card because with this bank we have to wait until we get the card which is unacceptable I want this app to be better and have all of the things I’m asking for in a app

  • Appalling mobile support

    I opened a credit card with HSBC. The process of signing up was much more complicated than any other card experience. I thought that might actually be evidence of more care taken around credit lines, which would be good. However, after jumping through hoops to install the correct version of the app (two false starts directed from the welcome emails for my card!) I discover now that it’s impossible to make credit card payments from the app! This is 2020. The HSBC banking systems are totally out of date and unfit for contemporary purpose. Every other line of credit I know has sorted this out by now. For a company the size of HSBC it’s beyond poor. Worse, if you try to pay via mobile browser (Safari latest for iPhone) that’s also impossible. The site is not mobile responsive. And you can’t access the relevant area of the site. There are no warnings given. Just every time you try to enter the ‘Payments’ section you’re *helpfully* taken to customer service to learn about all the ways HSBC will apparently help you. Reader, they may not... The worst experience I’ve had in ages of bulky lumbering corporate process when what’s required is a fresh start. Please fix this, HSBC. I regret deeply choosing you to bank with.

  • Liked the old app—Hate the new app

    Wrote this review several weeks ago and you still have not fixed the “deposit check” feature. At this time, because of the coronavirus and people not being able to go to an HSBC branch, you should figure out why the old app worked and the new app does not!! Judging by the reviews, the “deposit check” feature on the new app has been faulty for quite some time!! Never had a problem with the old app when depositing checks using my iPhone. Major problems when trying to deposit checks with the new app. Spent over a half hour trying to deposit a few checks and all I kept getting were messages which read error, move up, move down, move left, move right, etc. Wish we could still use the old app!!

  • Check scanning busted

    Update: based on developer response, I have used mobile check deposit with HSBC US before and in the same physical place. I tried with a different account (my wife’s), a different device and a different check. The check went through immediately on Wells Fargo’s app, has already been deposited and transferred into the HSBC account. Sorry not happy to jump on with HSBC live support to spend time explaining the above again and trying repeated attempts at the same. Hopefully you have metrics on check deposits showing success/failure attempts.

    I have recently tried check scanning multiple checks and failed. Looks like some backend issue given the app hasn’t taken an update. I am going to have to start using my non-HSBC account to clear checks. 😕

  • The incompetence of this app is truly breathtaking!

    Right from the start when this new app appeared it did not reliably read checks for mobile deposit. In fact, I continued to use the old app as long as they let me, because it was always able to read the check. But now they’ve eliminated the old app and it is infuriating. Sometimes, if I try multiple times to deposit a check over several days it will eventually accept it. But now it has stopped working completely. I get an error message that it cannot read the check. I have complained repeatedly to customer service ever since they introduced the new app about six months ago, and they tell me they are working on it, but to no avail. I was told to delete and reinstall the app, and it makes no difference. This incompetence from a major bank is truly breathtaking.

Please try to place the check face up on a dark background, rotate your phone, and press the camera icon. Make sure that all four corners of the check are inside the red box. HSBC can only accept photos that are sharp, clear and show all 4 sides of the check.   • NonFunctional check deposit feature

    If you were trying to deposit a check and made 34 attempts and the app crashed 6 times and STILL couldn’t take an acceptable picture of the FRONT of the check (and you’d still need to take the back) so could NOT deposit your checks, would you stay with this bank? What if they had closed all the branches that had been near your work and home so that you could only rely on their incredulously non-functional, amateurish app? What if the app was the only way to deposit checks and what if, even when trying to use other features the app constantly crashed? Worse still, what if the bank CONSTANTLY UPDATED THE APP YET IT NEVER GOT BETTER? I’m FINALLY DONE. Off to U.S.A.A where there’ll be no ATM fess and I won’t have these freaking headaches.
