  • A Worthy Investment To Organize Your Practice

After using this app for six months, I find I practice more efficiently and consistently. The developer makes consistent improvements and listens to user feedback (super easy to submit in the app).

    Favorite features:
Playlists - helps to stay on focus and itemize practice lists
Metrodrone - practice tool right inside the app with quality metronome and drones
Practice timers - keep track of time and work even when you switch to another app

As a classical and jazz musician, teacher, and professional musician, I am better organized and prepared using this app. Worth every penny!

  • A game changing app for my practice

All of this happens when you use Modacity.

The auto play feature of self recording causes me to listen to myself far more often than any other recording technique. It shortens my feedback loop and increases my rate of improvement.

The note taking tool helps me remember all of my important reminders and mental cues for each piece of music.

Practice play lists help me get and stay organized.

Practice history data helps me clearly see my time spent for clear reflection. With new understanding I can adjust my inputs and plan future areas of improvement.

The metrodrone reminds me of pitch and time while still allowing space to hear myself.

I could go on and on.

Thank you for this incredible tool.

  • Pointless

A practice log app, but you can’t view the practice log without the premium version. Which makes the free one as useful as a chocolate teapot.
  • The Practice App Every Musician Needs

I very rarely write reviews. But this app is one of the best I’ve ever had.

No matter if you’re a beginner or a professional performer, this app will drastically change your practice habits.

Before this app, my practice was disorganized and sporadic at best. Sometimes I’d keep track in a journal. Other times I’d lose my pencil and shrug off even touching the piano.

I’m now practicing (actively working on content) around 1-2 hours per day because Modacity has made it so easy to track and log songs, practice sessions, etc.

The price might be a bit high for subscription, but there’s not an app out there that can compete with Modacity right now. The free version has plenty to get by with, but I love being able to track exactly where my hours are going and how I’ve improved.

Looking forward to more features soon! (I would personally like the Italian tempos in the metronome app... tiny addition).

Hoping to see a theory/music knowledge part added in the feature, but that’s not really why I’d continue to use the app anyway.

  • Subscription pricing is way off

The $8.99/month pricing for the premium version of this app is a bit much, in my opinion. While it’s quite convenient to have a ton of practice tools in one app, I can get the same practice environment with my the TonalEnergy (metronome and tuner/drone) and a notebook for notes.

This app would make much more sense for a one-type payment; over $100/year for pretty basic features (including “unlimited notes”—just buy a notebook...) is neither particularly enticing nor sensical. Just my $.02. I encourage the developers to review the value of the premium subscription. The base app is useful, but the premium is certainly not worth the subscription amount.

  • Excellent music practice app

I am a pianist and a cellist, and I have used this app to practice for a few sessions. I am more than satisfied! With the app set up to record my playing and a mode focused on improvement, my practice sessions are now incredibly efficient, allowing me to learn pieces and fix issues faster.
  • Modacity

I have tremendously improved my piano playing through the use of this app! I am organized in my practices and I now have goals which I have set for myself. It’s all (learning to play) finally making sense to me. It’s so much more fun now. I look forward to my practice!
  • Love this app!

I’ve been a musician for over 20 years but recently picked up a new instrument. This app has changed the way I practice!

The only thing I have found that I wish it had is the ability to take notes that aren’t related to a specific practice item.

I find myself wanting to jot things down for future practice during the day or in a lesson/class and not just when I’m practicing. I wish there was a way to access notes without being in a current practice session.

Update: developer response perfectly answered my question! Such an awesome app and people! My teacher is constantly impressed that I’m so organized.

  • Great journal for practising music

Hope the developers can implement a one-time purchase option as the subscription plan can be a turn-off.
  • Super-effective Practice Tool

Modacity has truly helped me change practice routine in all the best ways! The ability to organize playlists and practice items allows me to leverage my practice time. The improvements and mastery features then further help me figure out what really needs my attention.
My biggest success with Modacity was in March/February 2018. I was preparing to go on tour with a bluegrass group playing bass and singing harmony (with a little lead thrown in there), and I had 20+ songs to memorize. It was a truly daunting challenge, and I procrastinated. About 2 weeks from the departure date, I finally decided that it was time to learn these tunes. Using the playlist feature, it helped me see all of what I needed to do, and the mastery feature let me see what needed work. With about 1.5-2 hours of practice a day and some interleaving strategies, I solidly memorized those songs. I didn’t even have to worry about memory lapse on the tour! Using Modacity as a tool for effectiveness let me just have fun. Hope it helps others keep pickin’ and grinnin’!
