  • Still Needs Some Work

The biggest issue I have is in trying to order two of the same item. It makes me put one item in the cart, then repeat the process.

The second is that I would like be able to make my local coffee shop my default for ordering without having to select this store every time I order. I cannot find a way to do this. I have had two orders placed that were never received by my coffee shop. I was careful to select the local shop, but the person in the store said sometimes orders go to the wrong store.

I have used enough apps to recognize good design and easy use. This app needs more work. I realize you are trying to make it useful for many different coffee shops, but I feel, since we only use our one local store, that I should be able to customize for that store.

What I appreciate the most with this app, is to have our coffee order waiting for us. In our COVID environment, it is helpful not to have to spend much time in any shop.

  • Tip AFTER

Quite happy with the app. The coupon codes/rewards make it pleasant due to such great deals. Uploading the funds is easy and it does make curbside pick up so much faster. I deducted a star because there needs to be a way to tip AFTER having received the coffee. I have tipped before receiving, and this sometimes occurs when the order isn’t executed as well. There are times I haven’t tipped, and it was wonderful service. While I can provide feedback after, I would like to reward a tip after good service as well.

  • Very aggravating unless you don’t change your orders

The app starts with past orders. There is no way to have a favorite you can jump to.

So if you typically order your favorite with something else different, you may have to do a lot of scrolling to get to your fave. When you do find a past order to repeat unchanged, there’s no way to tell if it includes any special instructions. Like “please leave lid off. “ It seems to lose those special instructions.
    .
Adding a tip is also annoying. The suggested amounts seem to change every time I use the app. It is very easy to get the wrong tip and not realize it until you see the final total. This happens to me when I try to tip generously for a coffee drink but not for a bag of unground beans. Then there’s no way to correct without canceling completely. This may require existing and restarting the app.

Basically, the only reliable way to use this app is to make every time a “new order “ and be very careful with the tip.

  • Changed the way we order

We have a local bakery we have been visiting twice a week for a few years. They closed during COVID but opened up with this app as an option to buy. What an improvement! Love that we can order from the car on the way there, then everything is ready for us. It can be a little glitchy, which is why 4 stars not 5, but I expect that will all improve soon. results in having to start an order from scratch, not duplicate payments (doesn’t remember what is in the ‘cart’ if you lose connection part way through). Love it though, and the rewards which we never took advantage of before!

  • Kept me sane (and caffeinated) during Quarantine!

A day isn’t worth living if I am not getting an oat milk latte the second I roll out of bed, but due to stay at home orders and restricted capacities in my go to coffee shop (100 percent support both) there was a line out the door that could take like 30+ minutes. So that wasn’t great. But I download Joe and was able to order ahead and it told me exactly when my latte was ready to be picked up and I could sneak in and out all while still respecting the social distancing orders. Thanks Joe! XO

  • joe coffee is the best part of my day!

joe is the best app on my phone because it give me a gateway to my elixir of life from all of the best coffee shops. I can always trust that no matter where I am, joe will show me where I can not only find my the most delectable coffee around, but I can help support the true local businesses. I checked with the owners and baristas at the shops and they told me that joe doesn’t take anything from their bottom line and that they prefer when I use joe as it makes their lives so much easier and saves the business time and money. Just to put the icing on top, joe stores my rewards points in the app so I don’t have to carry a wallet full of punch cards. They even added a cherry by sending push notifications with additional promotions and deals so I can justify getting coffee even more often. joe is a true majestic unicorn in a sea of overwhelming, clunky, and deceitful apps and I am so glad I get to support so many great businesses every time I use joe!

  • Great app. Few flaws. Happy overall.

Joe is a really good app for not only finding new coffee spots but also fulfilling your coffee needs via online orders. I really don’t have much to complain when it comes to this service. The only thing I would bring up is the new update. The menu can be a little glitchy sometimes, but has NEVER resulted in a duplicate transaction or anything of the matter. Sometimes if you don’t pay attention, it can be easy to accidentally back out of an order when choosing what you want. Which can be annoying if you just put together a big order. Other than that, the app has been great and I love what this company has put together in order to help local shops stay afloat during this rough time. Overall, I’m a happy customer for the Joe app. Just a few quirks with the new update is all.

  • Good concept. App needs work.

App-based ordering and payment make a lot of sense with today’s health concerns. This app helps minimize contact, brings table service to my favorite coffee shop for the first time. So nice to enter an order on my way, grab an outside seat when I get there. Have my order delivered to my table soon after arriving.

App is a little awkward. Some buttons, like “checkout” require scrolling to find. Some, like “add to order” aren’t prominent enough. Some things aren’t visible, hidden behind a button. App also freezes too frequently, requiring closing & restarting the app. Getting to order screen is a little slow. Assuming menu & account info is being refreshed.

Shop owner says the fees are reasonable. App doesn’t eat all their margin, like some reported in the press.

I’d like option of having receipts texted or emailed. I’d like a receipt for having added to account. Now viewing past orders is possible. But screen capture only way to make info available outside app. I haven’t found a way to see or receive a receipt for adding to balance. Would be nice to have a statement of cash transactions (Additions and total spent on each order, balance. Statement format.)

  • A bit too needy

The app works well enough for ordering coffee, but it seems to have this incessant need to bother me throughout the day with notifications that I’m not interested in. This annoys me so much that it actually prompted me to write this review. I want notifications for when my coffee is ready, but I could care less about anything else. It would be nice to have a way of choosing which notifications are enabled.

Additionally, as an iOS app developer myself, I’d say the app feels more like a web page wrapped inside of an app rather than a native app. (Perhaps it’s the scroll bars on pages that don’t need them? Things just don’t seem to “fit” very well like I’d expect from a native app.) It could use some work in this regard, but overall it’s functional and effective. (I would probably rate the app 4/5 if not for the notification issue.)

    Developer Response

Hi Meb87, Thanks for your feedback! We know push notifications can be a disturbance and we apologize for that experience. We try to keep any type of notification minimal and only notify you when you have a way to save money at the coffee shop you love. There is a way to disable notifications so you only receive notifications that are important to you. When you open the app, select the profile button at the top right, under the user profile photo, hit the pencil icon, scroll down and you will see a list of notification types that you can toggle on or off. Thank you for being a customer and providing us feedback. We are working hard to make the app an experience customers love and hope you will have a better experience once you toggle off some notifications. We have new updates coming out this week and hope you enjoy them. We would love your feedback on the new features. Cheers!
  • Frustrated with the log on

App is somewhat simple to use but at the same time the support and options seem low, I tried logging on but apparently couldn’t remember my password and tried 5 times to use the reset password option but it wouldn’t send me an email link to do so, there really doesn’t seem to be any sort of support options or help from the app that I can find. I feel bad for the coffee shop as I couldn’t place an order 5 feet from their door. Once the app supposedly sent the reset there was no other options, no help! It never sent a link.
