  • Update…Lose my wifi connection on my iphone

    After troubleshooting with my Internet provider I discovered that night owl system causes me to lose Internet connection on my phone. The night owl app is causing it. How to stop this from happening… other than not all wifi connection to the app…does anyone know? Seeing all the reviews kinda concerning… is there any humans in tech support at night owl to help with this???? Also no recordings are made by system. And yes app takes forever to load to view once you get an alert forget it… by then person who attempted entry could be gone. What is this? A joke??? I wish we hadn’t spent the money or time….

    Update: We are finding that it takes pics of random stuff claiming it’s a human, face, or motion. Also…Our dog is a “vehicle”… but the pic does not show our dog. When you are actually out and about around the cams it is very few notifications. Also it’s 2 min slow in response. Kind of alarming if someone enters property.
    Still have not figured out how to record. Customer service not helpful and info in package and online isn’t very helpful.
    An alert when someone turns off system would be nice as well. Very costly for something that is not very precise with alerting or recording.

    This is my 2nd NightOwl system it the DP 2 6 cameras with 18 ports. It was very easy to set up and I love the spot lights. I’m able to stop the spot light on any camera and the pictures are beautiful and the old Night owl cameras still work from 2013. The few times I called tech support they were really great people and always fixed my mistakes. Live in Florida and I think it got hit by lightning and they fixed it like new and NO CHARGE!

    It’s great when you buy from a company that’s stands behind their products!

  • No notifications

    I would like to state I’ve never written a review on anything but this just ticked me enough. It was working fine for awhile & I loved the device and app, but as time went by I would lose connections a few times and about 2 weeks ago I stopped getting notifications/Alerts. It got fixed and worked again for awhile. Now I’m back to no notifications or Alerts.

    This bugs me because I’m in the military in a whole other country right now and I can’t even protect my family back home.
    I’ve contacted support aswell & no surprise there was no response.

  • So far it’s great

    Just replaced a 7 year old night owl system with the new 8 channel 4K wired cameras. Setup was very easy. I had one glitch in the app after installing, 24 hrs after installation the app said that said no device added and couldn’t connect. I reloaded and is fine as of now. I have one bad camera that the light and night vision doesn’t work, I tried another camera on that channel and it works. Waiting to get a email from warranty department on replacing after calling this morning. Only con I would say with the camera system is that the cameras themselves although very clear picture compared to my old 720k, they seem very cheaply made. The old ones were all metal and strong, these are all plastic and very light. Only time will tell how they hold up to the elements all of which were fully exposed, the 7 year old cameras I had were still in good condition after going through all the years of temperatures as low as -6f up to 110f and in direct sunlight, heavy rains and snow.

  • Don’t Waste Your Money

    Completely HORRIBLE!!! Every single thing about it is horrible. It sends notifications of movement then when you click on it it tells you nothings connected. When you call customer care you have to go through your whole in home device and reset everything on the device, computer and then phone. It takes about 6 hours each time and all they do is transfer you. Seriously find a better camera with better customer care.

    **UPDATE** IDK what was fixed or improved, it’s worse than before. And customer service with this company is an absolute joke!!! Seriously save your sanity and money, go with a better company - they just hang up on you if you ask questions.

    When I first installed it, it worked fine. A couple of updates happened since and now…. Every time I close out the app (or reopen a minute later) it seems to lose the device and I have to log out completely and log in again just to get it to reconnect to the system/devices.

    Not to mention the lights on the cameras pop on and off ALL day and ALL night long whether or not there a person/human/face etc causing movement or not. (I have adjusted the setting and doesn’t fix the issue). Needs an option to shut off the individual camera lights from randomly popping on and off or for indoor use should a user/owner want to. Night vision with the cameras are not an issue.

    Pros:
    Wireless system generally user friendly

    Usually good picture & sound

    System in house records for playback vs paying out for video storage else where.

    Night vision

    Cons:
    Lights come on and off all day & night with/without cause.

    Camera’s (all different areas at different times) randomly “ Device ready for use.” No power issues/internet connection issues.

    Currently app/system having issues

    Other than a few hiccups.. needed fixes… over all a sound system/equipment.

  • Fake five star reviews. Horrible.

    All these five star reviews are fake. Anybody who has used this app regrets their purchase. The cameras are okay but the app integration is abysmal. Takes 30s to pull up anything so the live notifications are practically worth less. You can only see events for 24 hours on mobile. Can’t see continuous recordings only events. Downloading events is slow, the NVR software is slightly better but still awful to navigate through. Night owl. Please hire some new application developers and pay them handsomely to at least provide a decent end experience. Right now it’s awful. Needs a total overhaul.

  • Awesome features - easy to use

    Not sure why some people have had issues with the app. I get notifications, can watch live video footage, access my recordings, save snapshots of the recordings and have shared access to my system with close friends and family. Someone broke into my neighbors car and I was able to share footage with the cops using the app, which put me on good terms with my neighbor. Overall, it’s been easy to use and I like the features. No complaints.

  • Horrible

    2 times now this app fails because of a expired token and a app update.
    Then trying to log back into . It states it doesn’t recognize my email or phone number. . But when I try to ask for a password update it recognizes it but sends a code , but then the problem is when I went to website to reset the password there is no place to put the code in.
    The other time this happened I had to call up night owl which took about a hour to connect to a person. They had to reset everything.
    Now I am away for a month , out of the country and I have no access to my home recorder and cameras .
    This is so unacceptable.
