  • Garbage software and service

    Have spent months yes months working with this company to solve recording issues with their product. First if you are having an issue adjusting the zone sensitivity for each camera under record settings it’s not just you. We tried it on 4 different phones and the system will just reset it to medium if you set the lowest setting. They tried to play it off as a phone issue. Nope. Ultimately they didn’t address the issue and implied a refund and then recanted because it went past 30 days even though we had been working the issue.
    To make matters worse during the troubleshooting they shipped me a replacement nvr and put it is a large usps mailer box with absolutely no packing material. Ultimately this was not a fix. This system will say it sees a face or car when there is nothing there. The main reason I wanted to adjust the sensitivity. Just so you know they use the same software on all their kits so I would avoid them all together. If I could give 0 stars for this company I would. Absolutely terrible experience and product.

  • App not working and can’t add device

    App was working fine all year in 2023 and after update it doesn’t show my camera system. I have done everything the troubleshooting page required to do. I have logged out and logged back in, uninstall my app and installed it again and even did a factory reset and nothing. I even logged on the website and tried to remove the device and add it back to see if maybe that works and nothing. I keep getting a notification saying “Something went wrong. It seems the device has been added before. Please remove it from the device list and reset it to add it to your account” but it doesn’t show any device! This camera system cost me over $700 plus insurance plan for it to work under 6 months of usage. They need to get it together and hire someone who can work on the backend and figure out the issue with this new update they sent out!!! I am beyond frustrated.

    Hello, Please try the following; 1. log out of the application, 2. log back into the app. once you are in the app the device should be listed. tap and see if the live view can be seen or playback.
  • App is fine, connection speeds are NOT

    App is fine, surprised it works as well as it does with the connection speeds given… I have cat6 line throughout my house and the main nighthawk server only gets a 100mb (yellow) connection when it should be 1gb (green) connection and even with that 100mb connection the cameras are only getting around 100kb, the amount of lag and choppy connections is outstanding… I have no choice but to invest in another product, which is crazy for how much I spent on this… if I knew I was gonna get 100kb connection from my camera to the box and 100mb from the box to my 48 edge switch… I would have laughed at this product and never considered it… so I hope this message finds someone well before the purchase but if your looking at these reviews it’s probably too late unless you got your receipt I would run back and get my money back ASAP!!!!

  • This camera system

    I brought my system a year ago and all my stuff is updated and everything my app and my cameras, now all of a sudden I can’t see crap on my cameras but it will notify me when some one is in front of my camera or a car passes by but just sitting here looking all my cameras are black you can see the green WiFi on all of the staring that the connection is good I have unplugged and plugged my system back in after two minutes and it still doesn’t work, I paid 400 dollars for a paper weight cause that’s what I am about to use it for, and developer please do not say update in the app because it’s all up to date on everything. Y'all system just crappy right now and I am going to have to buy a whole new security system which pee’s me off because that means I waisted 400 on y'all stuff.

    Hello, Thank you for your honest review and details about your issue, it seems that you have a wireless camera setup, if this is the case please make sure these cameras are installed within 300 ft in line of sight from the main recorder. the video feed from the cameras to the recorder is being blocked by large metal appliances or thick concrete walls.

  • App is the worst ive ever used

    Ive had Night Owl cameras now for a couple months. The cameras themselves seem to work well and the hardwired cams look great on the TV they are connected to.
    However 95% of the time u r viewing the cams on the app on your phone and the app is terrible. Works roughly 15-20% of the time and if u want to view videos it might work but if it does it will eventually freeze up and you will need to reset your system for the app to work again. This has happened on multiple occasions already and its getting old. The amount of time and frustration spent on getting the app to work are making me think i wasted my money. I have really been hoping they would get their act together and fix the app but that just doesnt seem to be happening. You may be better suited seeking a system with a good app to where u can actually view the cams when u need to. Very frustrated.

    Hello, Please, ensure you have the Night Owl Protect product directly connected to your home router, this will help the app connecting without any other device in between the router and the main recorder.

    UPDATE: I now am getting notifications and the ‘recorded motion clips’ again (thankfully! Which is our main use of the app), but still can’t review any previous footage on the ‘timeline’ portion per the app (on the main monitor with the hard drive it’s all there). Which we hardly ever used the timeline portion, so for now I’m happy! Eventually they’ll get it fixed! When it works, it’s very useful and easy to use. I was just very upset that the week we’d be gone for vacation, was the time the app quit working for me. So apologies, I should understand that it’s technology and sometimes things happen. Thank you for working on it quickly!

    Updated the app recently, now it doesn’t record or have any video playback via phone app. It’s saving the recording on the hard drive, but NOW I can’t access it from the app. ALSO it stopped giving me notifications when triggered. Even though I’ve checked all settings, individual camera and the main settings and they’re all turned on. Horrible and was the whole point I bought this a year ago. Now it’s worthless. I’ve rebooted, checked manuals, done all the tips and tricks, rechecked every setting available, NOTHING fixed this issue.

  • Avoid this App, Company, and their Products

    This is possibly the worst surveillance system you could ever invest your time or money into. I spent the past few days to make this system work and everytime I had an issue there was no simple solution. First off, this company wants you to primarily use their app to use their product. This is a problem if you set up your system manually before attempting Bluetooth. Essentially, you can get locked out of the system. The product does not have a physical factory reset button, which is a big issue when you get locked out. The technical support contact system is also poor. Calls are ended before they go through to the representative, and the callback option rings for a second before they move on. I tried searching for an FAQ or instructional guide to reset on my own, but there were no resources available. Thankfully the chat support technicians are more reliable than the phonecall support, so they were able to talk me through the steps. The app has poor cross-platform connectivity. If you do something on the website, the app won't register it (such as registering a device). Personally, this app and their products are not worth the trouble. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

    Wish I got a different setup. The cameras are great. But you have a hard time connecting when you get a notification. And it’s constantly asking abut Bluetooth. There’s nothing to connect to Bluetooth so it makes no sense.
  • App not working

    The app is not working just bought. Cameras followed all instructions. It worked at first, but once connected Internet and open the app to view cameras I get a message saying Oops Something went wrong Please check the Internet connection For your phone and device. Update. My app is up to date still same issues. Not only that but it says cold night vision all I see is black and white even with ambient color. It’s morning more sun is coming up still black and white. I can’t schedule a record without having the app. And there’s no rewind for play back. One camera keeps getting disconnected and keep getting false notifications every 5 min saying it’s captured a face and or human pay back there’s nothing there. I wish I could return them or at least trade in for something else better. And it too bad they don’t have any ptz cameras.
    I know I can’t return it to the store since it’s past a few weeks could. I return it to the manufacture for a full refund since I’m Jaír completely satisfied??
