  • Worst Application Ever

    Do not buy these cameras. The horrible unstable application itself is reason enough not to. App hasn’t been updated in 3 months and has clearly been abandoned. I have to basically re-sign into my accounts every 1 or 2 days. Some error about delegate not being set. When I am able to sign in it’s the absolute worst experience. Cameras load so slow and the interface looks like it came from 2010. The most annoying problem is trying to scrub through video, It doesn’t let me watch the recording a few minutes earlier without snapping back to the live video. This is the worst application ever, it can’t even do it’s purpose correct.

  • To costly …

    This product is too costly to not have the abiotic view any time line events while away from home. We can only see live events. Admittedly didn’t do enough research before purchasing this product. The purpose, we had in mind, for buying is the ability to see what is happening around our our home when we are not present. Watching live is fine, but the timeline not so much. Also the alerts are beyond annoying as every single person, car or wildlife passes in the camera range alert. So all day, alll day and night, this app is alerting. There is no range limiter so alerts allll day long.

  • Updated Temp Fix: App doesn’t request access to microphone

    Update: nightowl is correct the app does request microphone access in portrait mode and will work in landscape mode once accepted in portrait mode so I never went to portrait mode before but this was a fix to no microphone access requests….. I’m sure they will fix this in the newer versions. But for now it does work and I can speak through my doorbell! Ty support team!

    Newest app version does not request access to apple devices microphone their for the talk to someone on your porch doorbells feature does not work tried on 2 different phones and an iPad. Even went as far as buying a new doorbell same thing on brand new one. Definitely a issue with the app! It used to work in previous versions called tech support on with them for hours lvl 1 then 2 next is a supervisor that doesn’t seem to call you back I think cause they know it’s a flaw in their app!!!!! 0 stars so far they don’t seem that concerned..if it don’t work tech guys roll back to the version that did!

    Hello ScarTissu, Thank you for your feedback, we looked into the issue, and found that in landscape mode, the app do not request correctly per permission. But this works in portrait mode).As a quick fix, i propose you to accept the microphone request in portrait mode (this is only asked once, when you use the function for the first time). We will bring a bix for the landscape mode in the next app release. Regards, Tech Support
  • Used to work fine

    All my cameras used to work fine. I actually have two NightOwl DVRs in my home, one with 8 wired cameras and another with 4 wired and 4 Wi-Fi cameras. Everything worked great for about 6 months and then all of a sudden the lights on the cameras would just come on and go off continuously, and on the NightOwl protect app I don’t even have the light option where I can click the button to turn the lights on and they don’t come on when they detect movement or detect human faces or anything anymore, the wireless cameras are pretty much worthless because I no longer get notified when someone is around my house. I dont know if it’s a software issue or what but whatever it is needs to be fixed or I will be throwing these in the trash and going back to the other DVRs I had before

    Hi, We apologize for the experience and issues you been having lately, Perhaps, this could be a signal obstruction issue or the type of network setup at you home. please, ensure you cameras are in line of sight under or approximately 300 ft in distance. and that your WNVR is connected directly to your Home Internet Router.   • Playback recording

    Playback recording is absolutely horrible I cannot view anything at all on play back as it states there was no events recorded during this time when all of my cameras have micro SD installed and none are not full I even tried to format it to see if the issue fix and nothing and also recording option is ON.
    Also only detects a human presence when it wants to as there has been many mornings when I leave for work and later on I go and check and the app it did not detect my precede at all even on times that I forget stuff in my house and go back in and get it and come back out front (camera is in my front house entrance)

  • Night owl app not

    I have the best Internet fast connection no problems with any other in home abs but the night owl cameras. They load slowly or not at all constantly have to be updated. Speeds are slow . Camera connections go down in the middle or viewing . On my tv I have clear camera footage all the time . On the app it’s hit or miss . Junk Update the cameras are in rang as I stated they work fine on my tv . It’s clear with no interruptions. All the Wi-Fi indicators on the Home Screen are almost full. The app is slow drops is the problem . Read the reviews they are not good and all have the same problem if your looking to check cameras when not home bye something else!! Everything is set up to nightowls specs and I also have extender antennas . Again works good on tv at home not so much with app. The extender antennas are night owl products you can purchase on the website . To increase the range for cameras .

    Hello, The use of wifi extender is not suggested for our products. all of the Night Owl prodcuts are intended to be use in a regular home type network. without any managed switches or routers from an actual administrator. if you have a broadband connection through your ISP it will be the most reliable way to setup your system and app streaming. DSL and or Satellite connections are not reliable for security products.
  • NightOwl Doorbell

    Live video is a bit jerky and delayed. I am hoping that improves after adding a micro SD card. After a few minutes of inactivity you have to log out and back into the app for it to recognize your doorbell camera. Others on here have mentioned this glitch/bug/feature. I am using the latest iOS app and the doorbell upgraded itself after powering on the first time. Also, is there a way to dim the standby light and lower the volume on the doorbell itself? Fix the issue with having to log back in and I will come back and upgrade my rating.

    FYI…like I mentioned in my original review. I do have the latest and correct NightOwl app from the App Store and the doorbell itself updated itself after powering on.

  • Can’t find support

    This was my second camera and seemed to work fine until the last update about a month ago when I suddenly stopped getting any notifications. I thought maybe I had silenced it during a storm when I was getting alerts every 30 seconds but everything looks correct. And now it’s only capturing about 50% of what happens at my front door. Like it will show/record that someone arrived but not when they left through the same door. And I have tried to get help but not finding any support. Does Apple iOS automatically update apps? I can’t see a way to manually do it.

  • Could be good but poor results & performance

    Cameras and system work great when attached to HD monitor. However app for iPad / iPhone falls short of being useful. Pop up messages continue to alert of vehicles. But they can’t tell that vehicles are static and parked where they have been for days. So many false alarms it’s useless. I can see the pop up clipped pictures but when I try and switch to live view it does not work reliably. 10% of the time the connection is successful and I’m able to see the live picture.
    This could be a great app. Hopefully some updates will fix it.

  • Newest update

    Another update. I want the old update back. When I get a notification that a face or human was detected. I was able to view the clip of the object. Now it won’t let me. I can see anything except a few clips from the previous day and only at night time and it’s flying bugs. Nothing about people walking up to our porch. Or our dog just ran off and can’t check the cameras to see. Unless you hold your finger down to go back 10 mins and don’t take it off or it’ll just go back to live. The update is a mess. And for the last response I received was not helpful in any way. I have no issues taking every camera down and taking in back to Walmart. By far not user friendly.
