Works so well
I figured out the app on my own in about 10 or 12 minutes without reading anything. Pretty easy to use. Just make sure you set the app Night Owl to turn off battery optimization, and since the phone is always plugged in, make sure should go into developer settings and click stay awake. One of the best apps when you need home security camera but can't afford to install those pricey ones. All you need is an extra phone and done. Works for what I need it for. I've paid for a subscription but had to cancel for a while and the free version is just as good. Unlike some of the other apps I've tried, where you have to buy the subscription to do anything. BE CAREFUL!! I have now had 2 phone blow up like balloons!! I like the app. Far more functional than my video doorbell and reliable and cheaper. My only gripe would be that It's power hungry. The battery will only last a few hours if not plugged in. Connection it good whether on WiFi or 4G with a little delay on 4G but expected.. No Doorbell function but not really necessary if you have a standard bell.. Person detection and defining zones is a good touch.. In short. Don't get ring, Get Night Owl.Show lessZannah Froudkwtc
AAMAZING
Some old phones (like mine) don't have overcharge protection. If you leave yours plugged in (like I do) it risks the battery bulging and destroying your phone (like it did to mine). I bought a cheap $11 digital outlet timer to charge it once a day. Since it's digital I can really fine tune the length of time it gets juice. Now my mind is at ease knowing it's only getting a daily bump charge. Also, remember to bring it when you travel. Really impressed so far. The set up was a little frustrating - I had to uninstall 2× because I had to set the viewer device first and the camera 2nd, then it wouldn't link from either phone. Love that it's free! I was able to use the app to keep an eye on my apartment when I had to leave for a few house so the tub could get repainted. Definite peace of mind for my anxious brain. Only thing I hv trouble with is that I can't get the camera to wake up remotely. I've changed both my phone and the Webcam phone to "appear on top" within Night Owl settings as well as the actual camera settings to "appear on top". Real good
Haven't used it much, bit in the 5 minutes or till me to set up and 5 minutes I've used it and explored the features, I am incredibly impressed. I don't know if I have ever seen a more user friendly setup experience. And then you get to usability. Products like this have a tendency to be overly complex. Not this one. Mostly okay but won’t show recordings on app
Cameras and hardware are all fine, but there’s something lacking somehow. I can view live, I can see the hardware is recording videos as the HD space indicates free space is going down every day. The calendar shows blue dots indicating recordings are being made. However, the app only shows about a day or two of the first recordings and all other future dates it (incorrectly) shows “no events recorded”.
UPDATE: this occurred when I was away from my home. When I returned home I was able to access all the recordings. That’s great, but the reason I wanted the cameras was to watch while I was away from my property.Show lessls1ash
DO NOT BUY
We purchased these cameras in hopes that it would notify us of an intruder. The website says that it will send you notifications if the cameras detect anything. LIES. I have never once got a notification. All notifications are turned on. When I watch it live, it’s great. But when I’m not watching it- it will not show me. On the app it gives me 800+ notifications saying it detected a human/vehicle/motion etc. when in fact it detects NOTHING!
Customer support is a joke. I had these cameras for one day and I wanted to return them and they said once it’s taken out the box it is no longer eligible for a refund. RIDICULOUS! They know their cameras are crap. Who wouldn’t give a refund??Show lessRikki Alexis
Awful
Too bad we didn’t see how bad the app was until after we ran all the camera wiring for 10 cameras through the attic… now it’s too much of a hassle to undo all the wiring and remove e the cameras to return this system. The app works about 5% of the time. Currently, it’s frozen from about 3 hours ago. Every time I go out of the app and back in, it says there’s a connection error and asks me to retry. All of my cameras have a spinning white circle, and my husbands app does as well. The cameras are working fine on the tv, however. This would be a great system if the developers put literally any effort into improving the app.Show lesshezhaa
