1.9

June 12, 2024

This update attempts to improve usability by: On the iPhone: * You can use a simpler swipe gesture to move between the pages. * The "Add" button should now be a little more obvious when enabled. On the Apple Watch: * The navigation has been restored to the earlier swipe left/right that we used to enjoy prior to watchOS 10. * This in turn means that on the shortcuts view, you can now scroll down using the crown as you would expect. * And it also means that on the Settings screen, you can now see everything.

Thanks to some solid feedback, v1.7 brings a couple of changes! * On the iPhone, the tone used for the start of the rest phase of a rep has been changed to be more in line with the other tones, and not as sharp. I tried quite hard to get the Apple Watch app to use the same tones, but that is not currently possible without losing the haptics. * You can now optionally have a 3 second lead in to the first rep. This works brilliantly on both iPhone and Apple Watch.

Thanks for updating Rep Timer. In this update we've: * Made lots of improvements to the user interface on the watch. * Added the ability to save your Rep settings as shortcuts. You can then swap between shortcuts with ease! * The UI on the smaller iPhones (SE, 5, 4S) now works properly.

Description of Rep Timer

Rep Timer is the timer you've been looking for! Rep Timer provides a simple, elegant way to time your holds without the need to look at your iPhone or Apple Watch. Just listen for the tone, or the tap on your wrist! And if you do look at it, it's beautiful and clear, providing a clear and elegant visualisation of the hold, and rests. It's awesome! Need to change settings? Easy! Change them on one device, and they are conveniently and automatically shared to your paired device (in either direction!). You can even save those settings as shortcuts. Have multiple workouts? Easy, just create a shortcut for each one! Swipe left and tap! Off you go! And if the app is open on both paired devices, starting your activity on one is automatically synced to the other! Don't have an Apple Watch? No worries, just use Rep Timer on your iPhone, and it will provide audible prompts, or taps (on a wooden table is awesome) to communicate. What you see is what you get. Do you want more? Let us know, and we'll look at adding in more features over time. If you're sick of ad supported apps, in-app purchases, or subscriptions, and you just want a simple timer that does what you need it to do, then Rep Timer is the app you're looking for. Rep Timer records any activities with HealthKit, so they count to your daily totals! I wrote Rep Timer because I've recently been given a set of daily exercises to do at home, and whilst I love Apples Workout app, it was a pain when I'm in a 30 second hold, that I couldn't look at my watch to know when it was time to have a break. Rep Timer lets me go into a hold, and just relax into it. When the tap comes, I know it's time to rest, and I know that Rep Timer will let me know when to start the next hold. I've built Rep Timer for my simple needs, and I'm sure that many people will appreciate a tool that is simple to use without all the fuss and bother of AI and spam generating subscriptions that just want their data.  Sometimes when all you have is a nail, a hammer is all you need. Rep Timer doesn't share or collect any data outside what you permit it to store in your own HealthKit on your devices.

Reviews of Rep Timer

  • It works!

It’s a great little app for keeping up with physical therapy exercises. Appreciate that it doesn’t about you with ads or collect your data. Thanks!

    Developer Response

Thank you! I’m really glad it’s helping. It was indeed my own physio exercises that I wrote it for originally so it’s very much tailored to that need.
  • Just what I wanted

It’s easy to use and clear. Just what I was looking for.

    Suggestions:
    - I’d like if there were three seconds or so before the whole set started so that I can position myself (grab my band or something).
    - I’d also prefer if there were a few tone options. I’m sensitive to sound and the ding hurts my ears. I’d even take the other tone twice to cue the end of the rep.
    - It’d be nice if I could name the saved rep settings.

Lastly, I’m not sure how to do the other cue method where I can use a wood table.

I still think it’s worth the dollar and give it 5 stars. It took me…less than a min(?) to search, install, and start my PT reps with cues.

    Developer Response

Thank you for your review, and for your suggestions! I’ve just updated the app with two of your requested features. I hope you like it. I'm not sure quite what you mean regarding the other cue method. If you'd like to email me at support@pkclsoft.com to explain then I can look into that too. Rep Timer was originally a project to help myself as I overcame an injury, so it's really satisfying to know that it is of benefit to others too.
  • Perfect App for my long boring exercises

I have to do so many reps after my knee injury/ surgery and keeping counts holds and reps was impossible. This is exactly what I needed so I could watch tv or listen to something else while the app did the mindless counting for me and let me know when to switch ... Worth the 99 Pennies for sure.

    Developer Response

Thanks for this wonderful feedback. I actually developed the app for my own use in a similar situation. I found it invaluable especially with the Apple Watch tapping me. It’s great to see that it’s helped someone else.
