Would NOT recommend

Would not recommend. The system routinely blocks your clipper card rendering it unusable until you call customer support to fix the problem. In the meantime, you need a backup clipper card handy to travel.
Blocks usually take 5 days to fix if it can be fixed. And a fix by customer support cannot be verified until you tag your card at a reader and see if the fix ‘took’. But you are warned that readers on Muni buses and LRVs sometimes do not correct the problem as they are not real time with the clipper system and your card may remain blocked. My card has been now blocked for three weeks and the only explanation I am given is that some Muni bus readers are really old and then simply ‘brick’ your clipper card when they are tagged and at that point there is nothing customer support can do except tell you to buy a new clipper card and load it to my phone and then they will be happy to transfer over the funds on my blocked card to the new card I have added. No way am I going to load another clipper card on my phone, I am going back to having the plastic clipper card which never gave me any problems nor required me to call Clipper customer service weekly.

Has a mind of it’s own

Wanted a clipper for my wallet, thought I had to download the app to do that. (you can just add that on apple wallet itself, so that was my mistake) But while I was trying to set up the clipper wallet on the app it took my money before confirming with me that I have the card. I did get the money back but that was an unnecessary jump scare. I had problem with getting the card cuz my phone was in a different region so I changed it and suddenly they didn’t let me add a clipper to my wallet, suddenly I couldn’t press anything. They also sent me a confirmation number for no reason, there was no where to apply the confirmation number and I couldn’t press add clipper to wallet anyways so that was useless. do not recommend. Just do it on apple wallet, saves u time n peace of mind.

Not for Tourists

First, you still have to pay $3 for the Clipper Card as this doesn’t become a card free app. If you don’t live here you may not be able to use it. I bought the card and put $10 on it at the machine. I put an additional $20 on it Sunday on the app. Monday late morning I saw I didn’t have enough money on it. At the station they said it may take up to 48 hours to load. As a non-resident I can see this as a huge issue. I have about 15 hours to go to see if I get my money back. Also it shows a $2.50 bus ride and I didn’t take a bus, but rode the train. I was forced to put additional money on the card today, but doesn’t show my rides or current balance. This may look electronic, but may actually be using the pigeons around to carry information.

Only US residents can load funds from the app

No point in downloading if you are from outside the US - use the pay machines at the station to load funds. This app will only lead you in circles. Total pain. Wastes 15 mins minimum to find out that the xenophobia of the world war 2 era continues…

Card balances do not update!!

I noticed my card balances were not updating. I tried swiping down to refresh, and I get the little wheel showing a refresh, but neither the cash balance nor the BART balance will update on any of my clipper cards. I uninstalled and then reinstalled the app, and every card updated with the current balance. HOWEVER… now it is March 29 and I have the same issue again. Its showing my last update as Feb 6th, and I cannot get balances to update. Reinstalling the app every time I ride BART is not a sustainable solution to this problem. Checking card balance is the main reason for having the app so that’s why I only give it 2 stars. *** Someone needs to fix this right away before I delete the app for good.

Requires USA zip code

So is useless for international travellers. It doesn’t have to be this hard. SMH.

Horrible user interface.

I used this two years ago and then tried today on a newer phone. So many things wrong: 1) why do you need my home address? 2) why can’t you enable auto fill so I don’t have to type everything in? 3) your scan of my credit card didn’t work. 4) I tried adding $10 to my clipper Apple Wallet and the money was charged to my card but I can’t see it in Apple Wallet or the Ap. 5) I tried signing in with my email address and said the account wasn’t found. I tried creating an account with that email address and it gave a cryptic error message saying to try to log in with the email or use another email address.

I wonder who got paid off or got campaign donations to have this horrible app made.

Who made this?

The user interface is terrible. The Home screen should have your cards. Deleting blocked or unused card should be easily accessible, like how its easily it is to get autopay set up. I’ve never used your trip tool. The settings menu is ok, but you still don’t have an option to DELETE unused cards. Your frequently asked questions? The first two questions Are about the app I already downloaded on my phone. Who would ask about the features and/or how to download an app that is already downloaded. I just don’t see any of the questions on the frequently asked section ever being useful or commonly asked. Your customer service!!! Oh man it’s trash, I felt like I was annoying someone, I asked “How do I delete my blocked cards?” Their response, “click the 3 dots on the top right corner, and it will give you the option to deregister your card” There isn’t three dots on the top right corner anywhere on this app. Lets say you want to add a plastic card you currently have to your wallet, the obvious procedure would be the ones taken for registering the card, and then add the option to autopay. This app wants you to set up the payment first, why!!!? If I need to be coached on how to use your app then its Poor UI, I should tap the card BOOM its on my phone, no need for the autopay nonsense until we already have the card on my phone. Good luck with your ventures and I hope it works out

Worthless app - needs to be burned down and rebuilt by a new team

Update: it looks like this app was last updated a year ago, is broken, and then no one has bothered to update it. I will report it to the Apple Store for removal.

I tried to add cash to my existing cards. App failed. I tried to add a new plastic card. App failed. I tried to add an existing card to my Apple Wallet. The app failed. It’s a worthless app. I use the Bart app to pay for parking and get routes. They should consolidate their payments there and just fire Clipper and shut down this app. I’ve never seen an app fail to perform basic functions. It needs a redesign from the ground up for simplicity and lots of reliability testing (I build features for apps for a billion people - this app is a disaster and any team making it needs to be replaced. It’s so bad that I just deleted the app and all my data from it. Apps this bad aren’t built with basic security and your credit cards and personal information are at risk.

Not for non-US people…
