Pretty bad

I signed up after my mom had important documents stolen. I signed myself up and added her as additional adult. However the invitation link never worked. Everytime we went in through link it would say “server error”. Once I got through to live customer rep (btw good luck with that … prepare to hold for over 30 mins), they said it was an IT issue and that someone would call me back within 24 hours after fixing. No one ever called me. I called them again and same thing. The rep said IT issue and someone would call me back. I asked to cancel the service at this point. If IT cannot even fix this simple issue, how does one trust the company to monitor our identities online? Even canceling was a pain. The rep kept telling me I needed to call Apple Pay to get my refund back. I had to push for them to process my refund. Rep kept saying Apple pay has to do it. I didn’t even pay with Apple subscription. I had to explain again that it was through my cc saved to my Apple wallet. The rep expected me to call my cc and ask for cancellation and refund. How would Amex cancel my subscription unless I was putting in a dispute. The rep spoke to a supervisor who then cancelled my subscription and processed my cc refund. I do not recommend.

Tons of spam calls and customer service is horrid

Right after I signed up my spams called and texts increased from one every few weeks to several every single day. Over a dozen on some days. I have had the same number for over a decade, I have been on the do not call registry and now I am just being bombarded. I called and finally pressed one for customer service to call me back. They called four hours later! You are not supposed to lose your spot in line. Either tons of people are having issues or they are just terrible with customer support. I explained my situation. The man just kept saying they had nothing to do with it. I explained that it seems my number has become increasingly more available, he put the phone to his mouth and started mumbling “calllllllleeeerrrrr ccccaaannnn yyyooouuu hhheeaaarrr mmmmeeeee?” I said I know you can hear me because I have a perfect connection. I was on WiFi in my own home. So then I waited for a second, he though I hung up and he didn’t say anything waiting for me to disconnect. So then I said I can still hear you then he mumbled it again and started saying to call back at the 800 number. This is a total scam and I am pretty sure they are selling my number!

“FREE TRIAL” Is A Scam

Not worth the stress because you can’t try the week trial before agreeing to a year for $150. I stressed out about the convoluted way to cancel the subscription and they cancelled the trial same time. Let me save you the hassle: use a password safe app and change all your passwords, don’t reuse any. Now you’ve done what the app does ✨

Stolen on Vaca

I had my purse stolen while on a personal trip to see my son & wife. I had pulled my clutch and had on my wrist when leaving the airport to get on a shuttle. Unfortunately, being unaware, someone must have slipped the clutch away from me & clipped the wrist strap. Forgot I had put around my wrist, I thought the clutch was in my shoulder bag. I got into the bag to pull tip money out of my clutch to learn I no longer had my purse on me with all my ID, cards, money & my travel card passport. Thank goodness I had my cellphone on me. It was a nightmare and the most hopeless & helpless feeling I’ve ever experienced. After canceling cards & requesting new, new license, having to report my stolen passport card to the State Department & the passport number shutdown forcing me to get a new passport, i had to take the next step to protect myself from ID fraud. I had heard good things about Aura and proceeded to secure my identity. I have a stronger sense of security now. I also loaded their antivirus on my laptop as well. Froze my credit reports, too. It was an expensive & hard lesson to learn but I feel safer with Aura alongside me.

Aura

Aura, you need to fix your app there is a feature in your app when you say you need to action alert needed for data brokers when a data broker pause you need to fix the data broker feature and louder user to pause or unpause the data broker be it’s kind of weird that when I tap the data broker and it asked me you need to upload or action is needed to to get this data broker to be opt out there should be a more easier way to give the information you need to give to opt out the data broker so you don’t have to keep wondering on how to unpause it so that it can be requested to the data so the data company can unpause the data broker really pisses me off that I’m trying to unpause this one data broker so my information can be opted out 100%

Disingenuous

When I bought the app 20 minutes ago for spam call protection, I was told that it came with a 14 day free trial & would block spam calls and make sure they don’t call again. I couldn’t find it anywhere on the app, so when I asked the help chat, I was given an automated response to put my name on the Do Not Call list. I have obviously done years ago and the reason I got the app was so that they can take the extra step. I was then prompted to speak to someone over the phone and got a clearly AI generated voice on the other end. Not only did it feel extremely disrespectful that I was passed along from one robot to another, but the AI voice said I had to pay extra for spam call protection. I didn’t want to argue with an AI robot because it would be a complete waste of my time so I cancelled the subscription on the spot. At least when a spam caller tries to sell me something I am talking to a human. I don’t think I’ve been this disappointed in an app in a long time.

Not really worth it

Honestly you would be better with something like MalwareBytes or even, god forbid, NordVPN. Not only is the app a bit clunky, it feels like the capabilities of the app are not worth a $15 price tag. I started the week free trial and didn't really like it, so I planned to cancel the day before it renewed. Lo and behold, when I tried to cancel my membership I was met with a white screen that froze up and refused to let me proceed with cancelling it. I tried in the app, on a mobile browser, AND on my computer browser and none of them let me cancel. Naturally, I reach out to support via email, hoping they can cancel it before I am charged again. I, of course, get a last minute email telling me that they can't cancel it over email for "security reasons" as if me calling on the phone is gonna do anything to verify my identity. Considering the account was connected to the email I used, I felt that cancelling via email should have been possible.

It wasn't until after my subscription was renewed for a month that I was able to cancel it. How interesting!

I can't speak on the long term benefits of this app as I only tried during the week trial, but for $15 a month I should be getting some nice, premium used out of the app besides stuff that is already integrated into free apps and even my phone.

Not really sure how this app has so many high reviews, doesn't feel like it's worth half of the price tag.

Aura

Aura one feature that you don’t have with your app please bring payday loan locking feature for your app so you can walk your check system report and you can log you pay a loan report as well inside of The Aura or App I know you have a feature we can walk your credit report in The or App, but it would be really nice Aura to lock your pay payday loan report easily in the app and please bring a system. We can lock check system report inside of The or App really easy with one button so you don’t have to do it with check system their self because they’re very crappy when you lock it with them so see if you can partner with them and bring a Lock and Alert. We can flip a switch and lock it and turn it off at anytime please do you know ChexSystems is a system that banks use to check your system if you’re eligible to get a bank account so if you bring that system, it’ll actually protect people more with identity theft and would keep their information protect protect them more and increased their identity

Data Broker

Don’t get me wrong. The entire app and platform is enjoyable to use. It’s very user-friendly set up is easy. I have them on all three devices that I have my cell phone my iPad and my laptop as I was going through one of the particular categories that you have a choice from is data brokers. It removed 28 of 39 brokers that were selling my information on the Internet that was worth a years subscription. I can’t wait for the updates to see what new is added I think I’ll have a lifelong connection to this application.

What I would like to see is the opportunity to keep pushing for those data brokers that have not released my information; to do so. The ones that won’t release are critical ones at that…
Also, maybe a clean-up of old or broken material from app deletion.

You do too much, Aura

I am genuinely baffled at how highly rated this app is. I wanted safety features for PC gaming and filtering inappropriate content on my child’s iPhone. What I’ve gotten for my money is a pushy PC app gag wants to run the show, an iOS app that pesters INCESSANTLY to turn on the VPN that breaks other apps, and…no alerts from my kid’s gaming. She’s a good kid but there is NO way after all this time I haven’t gotten a single alert from her time on Roblox. Every time I open the app on my phone, it acts like it’s never seen me before and makes me sign in. Sometimes it firehoses me with alerts that it hasn’t seen my kid active on her phone when she’s standing there using it. Then radio silence for weeks.

This app tries to do way, way too much. Some of it is home grown, some has been added through M&A activity. This thing runs a VPN, it MITMs game chat, it operates at ring 0 on our PCs, and we hand it our PII so it can monitor for it on the dark web. (I’ve never gotten an alert for that, either, and my data is definitely out there.) We are handing the keys to our personal kingdoms to a buggy app whose supply chain gives me the ick. Can I get an SBOM?

I’m well past the point of being able to legitimately ask for a refund, but I’m cutting my losses and not renewing.
