Beautiful and fun

My average daily step count has gone up by about 2km a day because of this app. I’m a month in to using it and it’s still exciting every day to check it to see where I am. I appreciate the dedication to book accuracy—really cool and a definite high point. I also like challenging Alice—the challengers are always kept interesting by the various activities they get up to and the competition certainly keeps me walking. Seriously love this app

Gorgeous app

I love this app. I'm delighted that it follows the books - closely enough that I found exactly where I am in The Fellowship. It keeps me excited every day to see how far I've gotten, and looking forward to when I'll come up to the next event I remember. (Elves in the woods of the Shire!)

Since not all my exercise is walking, I'm glad there's a work-around for manually entering distances: give the app access to Apple Health's 'Walking & Running Distance' and add data manually there. Sometimes, I use a converter to estimate how long a walk lifting weights or doing yoga would be equivalent to. It's an extra step, but not a difficult one.

The only tiny nit I can think of is that currently, the daytime sky seems more like dusk. This is so small that it hardly even seems worth mentioning, because the artwork is beautiful, both the main progress screen and the achievements.

I was very pleased to be able to try it out for free (up to a mile a day can be tracked) and found it well worth paying for the upgrade.

Great app

Love the app and happily bought it to support the developers. I like the suggestion from others of being able to compete against friend. Also, an in between challenger between Underhill and the next one would be great. Finally, I do wish my character’s image could remain in place until I manually move it along the path. I love watching the little animations along the way, but I always need to scroll backwards to my last ‘stop’ and then scroll forwards again. Not sure I’m making sense, but hope you get what I mean. The notifications along the way are great!

Hello AnonymousSchumtz, Thank you for taking the time to review Fantasy Hike! We're delighted to hear you've been enjoying it and very happy to receive feedback! We continue the work on making Fantasy Hike a better app. A friend feature is just around the corner and hopefully more will follow! Happy hiking and good luck on your journey.

One of these Challengers is not like the Others

I just got started, 4 days in. I really like the easy navigation of the app and the art style. My one complaint is that Mr. Underhill (your challenger) is springing all day such that he is about 60 miles ahead of me. I had to change to John Snowflake to feel like I’m actually competing. Only reason I could see challenging Mr. Underhill us if you do a marathon every day, and that’s just not realistic. Overall, highly recommend! Just wish I could race one of my favorite fantasy characters on more equal footing.

Edit: Finished on Jan 12! If you’re just starting, don’t let Mr. Underhill get you down. Great app that helped me with my New Year’s Resolution last year.

Hello Zmbie123, Thank you so much for taking the time to review the app. It is such a pleasure to hear from people who are enjoying the app. The speed of Mr. Underhill has been calculated by our experts, he is a very speedy hobbit we know which is why we have provided the others. Thank you so much for your feedback. I will forward the concern to our developers.

Perfect app!

I’ve never had any glitches with this app and I think the graphics and visuals are just beautiful! It makes me so motivated to get out and walk and there’s always something new ahead to motivate me in the track. Would highly recommend!

Hello acrannard, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Fantay Hike. We're thrilled to hear you've been enjoying it! Happy hiking and good luck on your adventure.

Incredible

I love the concept of it, I love the story it tells, I love that you can challenge different people of a different pace and see how they all do (I do wish there were more options) however I do wish I could rate it less stars so the developers could see this because I wish they would partner with a wallpaper/lock screen so my view of my guy walking could be set to always display and I didn’t have to move my guy back to see the cool scene changes as I progress through the terrain. That’s just a bonus I would like, everything about the app itself I love so I can’t bring myself to rate it less than 5 stars, honestly the best exercise app I have found because it makes me want to compete with the travelers in a way I enjoy rather than just for no reason other than competition

It’s an ok app but has the potential to be better

I would like the option to share with friends and see their progress on the map. That way you are versing friends and it would be more motivating. Also the free version should have at least 4000 steps instead of 1500 as the average step per day for someone is much higher.

Suggestion:- link with friends

Love everything about it. Works and defiantly motivates me to run and walk. Only suggestion is that it would be amazing if you could connect with friends and have them listed as challengers and track each other!

There and back again...

This app provides an immersive and enchanting experience for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy world. Navigating through breathtaking landscapes inspired by Middle-earth, users can embark on virtual hikes that mirror the majestic terrains described in the books and depicted in the film adaptations.

The app seamlessly integrates rich lore, offering interesting tidbits and trivia about the places users virtually traverse. The interactive map is user-friendly, allowing for easy exploration of iconic locations like Rivendell, the Misty Mountains, and the Shire. The app's attention to detail, from the authentic sounds of nature to the vivid graphics, contributes to an engaging and nostalgic journey.

Whether you're a devoted Tolkien enthusiast or simply a nature lover seeking a unique hiking experience, this app successfully bridges the gap between fiction and reality, making it a must-try for fans of The Lord of the Rings.

Love it, but Please tweak this.

I love this app! But this little detail keeps getting to me, and it’s affecting my enjoyment of this journey. I really hope you tweak it for the future.

In some areas, mostly where nothing is happening, it takes 20-30kilos to just move across the screen. At the same time, important areas like the mines or Riverdale take a fraction of that.

Details: Entering the mines at 1285kilos and exiting at 1353, with so much happening! Especially between 1349 and 1353. That was the part I was most excited for, and it was over in one walk for me…

And right after it you spend around 100kilos to walk a tiny distance from one bridge to another; see the 1385kilos point. I remember thinking the app is laggy on one of those days, because I walk for 5-7kilos, and my character didn’t move. (barely noticeable)

A lot of fans will miss the details that go by quickly and think they’re stuck in the same place in at times, which is boring.

Your team is great, and I’m sure you can balance it out more. 🙏🏼

Thank you.
