  • Untrustworthy for your data

Slow. Clunky. Buggy. A massive step down from the previous version 8. Worse still is data loss. I’ve experienced this on the Mac side of the app & lost confidence in the developers to maintain data integrity. Syncing is unreliable. Some data comes out garbled. Look somewhere else for your password manager.

  • Data lost

Update to my previous review. The app updated to v 9.3.0 today. The app had mysteriously stopped letting me login & this version was promised to fix the "unable to load key pass" problem. I can now login. Unfortunately, the app has deleted my data. Trying to restore data from backups or by overwriting from iPhone has restored garbled unusable data. This is an unusable app. Data is still on the iPhone version of this app, but do I trust it? No. Please don't trust this app with your data.

  • Way too slow and buggy

I used version 8 which was great. Clean and fast. Version 9 is slow to load, cursor jumps around, weird login flashes. Stuck with it for too long. Migrated to Bitwarden...
  • Much, much better…

I’ve been using SplashID for many years but after I updated to version 9 Pro several months ago it has been challenging. I opted to go with Wi-Fi sync after encountering some wonkiness of Cloud sync. However with persistence the workability of this app has progressively improved until now, with this latest update, it has become one of my favorites. Very pleased!

  • Not ready for prime time

Like many other reviewers, I have been using SplashID for many years. I am shocked that a company that has as much experience in this field as they have can’t fix this app. It shudders violently for a few minutes after the app is opened. Touching anything on the screen does nothing for the first few minutes. After syncing to the cloud, I often see data corruption. Record types are changed, icons are changed, etc. I tried WiFi syncing (which I prefer), but it doesn’t work and their technical support is not good. I have a lifetime pro license, but if the developer can’t get their act together, I’ll have to tell this old acquaintance goodbye. With app functionality as it is currently, I would recommend trying a different password management system.

  • Still buggy a year after release! Unworthy successor to SplashID 8.

I have used splashid since PalmPilot days. SplashID 8 is great, but the interface for SplashID 9 is still buggy at v9.2.5. It feels like a beta version, with 4 reload flashes in several seconds after you load, prompts to enter password multiple times, and some really confusing interface choices. I did report this to the developer, who promised all would be fixed in the next release... Right. I wish they would dump the new interface and update SplashID 8 with the updated backend of SplashID 9. I suggest current users stay on SplashID 8 and just test v9. Report your concerns to the developer and hope they don't turn off the old version support.

  • Zero Stars

I was a loyal SplashID version 8 user. It was fast and reliable. Then they completely ruined it. So buggy. Interface is worse. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Given it some time but now moving on to BitWarden.
  • Still a good password manager

I've been a long time user of SplashID and was taken aback on seeing this wholly new version and that it was not compatible with version 8. I followed the FAQ about making the transition and it went well with no hitches. There were a few odd messages, for instance when importing version 8 data it flagged that some icons would be lost (well, I think that's what it meant). However, all the data came across, as well as user icons. The interface of version 9 is a bit different and will take a bit of getting used to. I do like the extra tools such as identifying weak passwords and being able to not use confusing letters and numbers with the password generator. What I particulalry like is that you can run version 8 alongside version 9 which is handy during the transition period. I made sure I backed up my database before attempting the transition. I've done the desktop so far, still have to tackle my iPhone and iPad. But overall, I still like SplashID and glad I made the upgrade.

  • Hard start but up now

Been a long time user. Always WiFi sync only. Import to my windows desktop was ok. Only lost 5 records out of 650+. Will do an export of v8 to compare. But could not get WiFi sync to work to get the records over to my iPhone. Documentation is very weak. After a few days waiting on tech support, I was finally provide the correct procedure. Now up and running. Recommend:
    1) greatly beef up the documentation and FAQs
    2) put the newly expanded document into the app

  • Hope you like losing your data

The app has massive performance issues where it takes 10-15 seconds before you can use it while it syncs.

If you have issues they will just delete your account at the drop of a hat and all your valuable data is gone.
