TaskRabbit: Where Reliability Takes a Vacation and Never Returns

TaskRabbit, the epitome of unprofessionalism and unreliability. If you're looking for a service that will consistently disappoint and leave you high and dry, look no further.
My experience with TaskRabbit has been an exercise in frustration and wasted time. Three times, I've scheduled cleaning services through their platform, and three times, I've been left scrambling at the last minute because the maid decided she had better things to do.
It's bad enough to have your plans thrown into disarray by a cancellation, but what's truly maddening is the complete lack of consequences for these flaky maids. They can bail on appointments with impunity, leaving customers like me in the lurch, and TaskRabbit doesn't bat an eyelash.
And don't even get me started on TaskRabbit's customer service – or lack thereof. When I reached out for assistance after yet another cancellation, I was met with nothing but indifference and excuses. It's clear they have no interest in actually helping their customers or holding their so-called "taskers" accountable.
TaskRabbit's motto should be "We'll be there for you... until we're not." Save yourself the headache and steer clear of this sham of a service. There are plenty of other platforms out there that actually value their customers' time and deserve their hard-earned money. TaskRabbit isn't one of them.

Let down

I used airtasker to do some work around the house, 4 cancelled on me and one didn’t show up but charged me.
Well customer service was understanding and helpful in getting my refund but what i found not practical with this app is that you get charged before even starting a conversation with a tasker so although you are charged on your card they could cancel and you have to wait for refund. I prefer airtasker and check a trader because the trader choose and make an offer. Anyway after soo many disappointments i am deleting my account.

Awful!

I wish I could give zero stars… service was shocking from someone without experience or skill. After telling me they had just been fired from somewhere and only been working at this company for a week, they broke the furniture. When I complained to TaskRabbit I was told to simply cancel the task to avoid having to pay, but then was told I could not be offered any compensation for broken items because I didn’t pay for the task. So I’m left having to replace damaged parts myself, incur the cost and have wasted hours and hours on this. I just wanted to make life with a young baby slightly easier and instead I have made it a lot harder 😂 won’t be using this service ever again!! They were also rude and unhelpful in their aftercare. Rubbish!

Task charged my credit card even after Eina said they would not charge. Jason was difficult, did not listen to what I wanted, he showed up 8 minutes late and immediately cut me off to start telling me what he was going to do instead of asking what I wanted done. While he was stepping past me and talking about his plans he picked up my equipment including my pencil and measuring tape and started marking on my wood that I had bought....very unprofessional. I told him to stop because he had not heard what I wanted done, he cut me off and said 'do you want me to leave?' I answered YES! He did not leave and started making aggressive body movements. I told him I wanted him to leave my house and I placed the cancel order. I had to call the police because Jason did not leave 10 minutes later after I asked him to go, he was looking around my garage and just stopping in certain spots...kinda creepy. He finally got in his car in my garage after I got on the phone with the police. I walked out to the drive way and Jason revved his car and sped up the car towards me, hitting the breaks on his car only feet away from me....I was scared by his crazy behavior and I'm having second thoughts about using task rabbit.

Truly Terrible Service

I wish I could give zero stars! Numerous cancellations, one of them just 10 minutes before he was due to arrive. Ikea should cease their partnership with these cowboys. I ended up putting the ikea furniture together myself, almost breaking my back in the process.

Update following Taskrabbits reply:
It’s no surprise I received the bog standard reply with no human interaction. They didn’t even ask me to get in touch with details or that they would investigate. They truly don’t care about customer service or the quality (or work ethic) of those on their platform. Trust me, use one of the other platforms, where they do care about not letting their paying customers down!

Very hit or miss

So I got a response to my review. Don’t believe that they’re helpful you’ll get a long email that says Taskrabbit is just a platform and all of the movers are independent contractors. I spent $200 For incomplete service. Nothing that I asked to be done was done . I had to hire someone else to finish the job! Taskrabbit will not help you in anyway or provide a credit. You’ll just get a standard message that they’re sorry this happened to you but there’s nothing they can do . so it’s a gamble to have reliable people and a stranger in your house. If you’re a woman by yourself and there’s a man that’s over 6 feet tall insisting that they are done what are you supposed to do? Just go to the legitimate moving company way. You’ll be left out there without any funds, incomplete job.

My latest Taskrabbit was not a good experience. I booked someone for days out and of course the morning of I get a last-minute cancellation. They take no responsibility in verifying movers. I have a very heavy item that needed to be moved. The tasker looked at least 30 to 40 years younger than the man who showed up. And result my furniture item is in my living room and I’m going to have to hire someone else! $200 wasted.

App is extremely hard, and often impossible to use with a screen reader

Please, please please make your app accessible for those of us who don’t read the screen! Buttons need to be labeled as buttons. I cannot use the chat function. I cannot use the link that is given in the reply. There is one page on the website that comes up with catalog button and it gives you a description of what that is. There are mini mini, mini other things that are confusing and don’t support a screenreader. If you don’t know where the screen reader is, that you have more problems than it would be easy to fix. A screenreader is a text to speech engine that runs on operating systems. Or Apple, it is called voiceover and is available on all Apple products. I am using an iPhone 13 Pro with the latest operating system. I know you guys could do better. There are, I’m sure, lots of people who cannot read the screen, who would greatly benefit from your app. This means that you are a losing potential customers. that said, I have an able to schedule and utilize to test scores who were terrific. But the communication was difficult, because I could not participate in the chat. Often you have what seems to be buttons, but they’re not named in your coding as buttons and probably they’re not normal buttons, so in that case, you have to name them as buttons. Worth every penny

Wow what an incredible service - I didn’t know about Task Rabbit until IKEA suggested it. Watching Veneta work was like witnessing a miracle. Every cupboard piece precision assembled and smoothly fixed into place. Worth every penny to have a beautiful wardrobe with absolutely no stress. Veneta also advised what to do about the wardrobe doors which were unfortunately incorrectly delivered. And TaskRabbit will come back again to complete the job. I can not praise this service highly enough. And Venetta - thank you - you are a highly skilled powerhouse.

Absolute Nightmare!

UPDATE: Taskrabbit repeatedly instructs the people they scam to go through their own personal tenant insurance (regardless of whether or not the individual has any), despite the fact that for insurance it is the person at fault (Taskrabbit) whose responsibility it is to cover those expenses.
If you use Taskrabbit you’ll be left with a botched job, in debt from all the repairs, sick, exhausted, and with raised insurance premiums.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Taskrabbit does not vet their contractors, take any responsibility, or uphold their “happiness pledge”. Their contractor not only botched the simple task he was hired to do, but also damaged our property and installed actual weather/bug exposed garbage into our ceiling.. Even with the ample evidence we provided Taskrabbit, they refused to offer any real compensation or help. Despite having insurance and being clearly at fault for the damages, Taskrabbit will also attempt to con victims of their botched services into using the victim’s own insurance to cover the costs Taskrabbit should be responsible for. This has been an absolute nightmare- please protect yourself and your property by using a more reliable service.

Can’t rate no shows

I tried to use Task Rabbit, painstakingly went over each person’s profile and history, looked through available times, and chose “Abby B” for cleaning. I wrote a very long and detailed explanation of what I needed done (just a deep clean for my kitchen). I spent way too much of my personal time making sure to include every detail, because I was going to be at work when she would arrive. I received a call from my husband that she never showed about an hour after the scheduled time, which was 11am. I proceeded to go to the app because I hadn’t received any notifications that something was wrong. The app gave me a screen that said my tasker couldn’t do the task at 12:04pm, showing the current time, not the scheduled time. It offered a link to find a new tasker.

All I can say is that I’m super frustrated that I’m unable to let others know that this girl is a complete flake. This is a serious problem with this app and (lack of) service.

I do NOT recommend using Task Rabbit for any task. There are plenty of other apps out there that have methods in place to ensure your job gets done by someone in the event of a no-show or cancellation.
