  • Needs Mobile Check Deposit Option

    Update: I forgot I wrote that review, so I decided to update my thoughts on this app. They now have a mobile check deposit option and the app is pretty good. The only thing that I have issue with, is the credit card section on the app does not show any of my transactions, so it’s lacking in that aspect. Fix the problem and this would be a five star app.

    It would be a great app if it had what all the other bank apps have- a mobile check depositing option. Even though I've been a member for a long time, I'm actually using another bank right now because it has this option in their app., and it may be the reason I close this acct and move all my money to the other bank.
  • Easy and trustworthy

    I’ve had zero problems with this app. Very simple and easy to use and if there’s been any snags, customer service is very easy to get a hold of and they are very good at their jobs! Bank of Hawaii is one of the few companies where I can get someone on the phone fairly quickly, and they are empathetic, courteous, and very easy to understand (ie; not outsourced to a different region with some difficult -to -understand dialect.) Hopefully BOH keeps this app very simple and they keep valuing their customer service and phone, representatives are to the whole banking experience. (Ps. I might be slightly high writing this)
  • Mobile banking

    As a business owner I have been using mobile banking for close to seven years now. I made a mobile deposit in May and assumed that it was excepted because that is the message that I got when completing the deposit as I always do. I endorse the back of the check with mobile deposit, the account number and the date, my client was rectifying their banking account and did not see that the check had cleared and notified us. I just got off the phone with a customer service agent that said that my check was missing my endorsement. I have close to 1000 checks that I have deposited Mobbly endorsing the exact same way on each and every check with mobile deposit the account number and the date and now I’m being told that I have to sign my name. This is absurd. When I met with my customer service agent at my branch I was shown how to endorse the back of the check for mobile deposits, and I’ve been doing that all these years. Now I’m going to have to audit, perhaps years of deposits to make sure that this hasn’t happened in the past. Most likely I will be seeking a more reliable bank.

  • Inadequate

    Time to reach Customer Service is 7x longer than earlier this year. Customer Service Reps are unknowledgeable, don’t make efforts to obtain information they need to help you (I guess they do not want to consume their time to help), they don’t return phone calls that they say they will do, they don’t complete changes to bank account that they say they will do which then causes unwarranted charges to bank account, they are unfriendly, unprofessional, & curt at times to make the call short. They are concerned on who did not provide good service - as they shared that they have teams and want to know that their team member is not the ones providing poor service. And much more.
  • Please add box for payee, when banking checks.

    When they closed down our local Bank branch a few years ago,I stated using the drop box for my banking, but then they took away the envelopes AND the auto teller twice mis-read a check and short-changed me $500 which I then had to call the bank about. That was when I decided to try the app instead. I haven't walked into branch in a couple if years now. One thing I’d like ask for is when I bank a check, please give a box to write the payees name. This would make things easier at Tax time.
  • An App I Use Daily

    I like the mobile app a lot. I check my balance, mobile deposit checks, and transfer funds with just a few taps with no issues or concerns. One odd feature is when I log in I regularly receive a popup informing me the data network is busy or unavailable and to try later. I just tap the “Continue” tab and I access my account. Weird. One other odd problem—customer service related—is BOH canceled my debit card with no notification due to lack of use. Attempts to reinstate it were futile as BOH claimed my signature (I have been an customer for 35 years) was not on file and I needed to go into my branch to straighten out the matter. Not worth standing in a line for thirty minutes to fix their problem but it did cost them a “*” in my rating.
  • I agree with horrible check scan review

    The first review that came up said “horrible check scan”. I agree. Why should it take 8 tries to take a photo of the check to deposit it? I could of driven down to the ATM and deposited there in the same amount of time. Otherwise, it’s a good app, I guess. I’ll keep using it until my frustration with the check scan boils over and I delete it. Or find another bank altogether !
  • Not much of an app…

    App crashes or often fails to let me in. Either the Face ID fails, or I get the message “The data network is busy or unavailable. Please try again or come back later.” …except it doesn’t work when you try again or come back later.

    How do I know it’s the app? Because I can get into my account with no problem on a browser. Transactions also don’t show up in a timely manner, so really fails to provide you with the most basic service that a bank app should be able to provide.
  • Excellent Bank

    My review is on 43 years of experience with banks.
    I’ve had Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Fidelity Federal, Chase and a couple of credit unions. I left each bank for different reasons I won’t get in to. Bank of Hawaii has excellent customer service, bank tellers are super nice and very patient and helpful. Customer service over the phone is just as good. By far the best bank I’ve even encountered and I’m with them 4LIFE now!

  • Why is it that my BOH app never works at night when I need to buy groceries?

    The BOH tells me that they can’t authenticate my “submission” so I have to wait to actually buy something with my own money… I like this bank but if I keep getting these troubles I might just switch.. Not only does the app NOT LET ME use my money when the app is down. It does this everyday of the week, by 4:00/5:00pm Hawaii time. I’m honestly getting tired of it. It got to the point where I stoped leaving my direct deposit in my bank account so I can pay for things and possibly buy groceries when I need to. I wouldn’t recommend solely relying on this app. I only rely on it to get direct deposit so my money and quickly be retrieved.
