  • Cheque deposit is impossible

    I recently provided a 1 star rating for the HSBC mobile cheque deposit function. I was impressed to receive a message from the app developer directing me to instructions that would help. Sadly, they do not. The function is the worst I have ever encountered. I gave up trying to deposit the cheque and turned to the the TD Bank mobile cheque deposit function where I also have an account. It was perfect. In the past, I have used Tangerine and EQ Bank for the same purpose. They are also flawless. HSBC should be embarrassed that their mobile software is pathetic.

  • Cannot make a Mobile check deposit

    I’ve tried for 2 months now to make a mobile check deposit and the automatic software to take the photo keeps giving me an error message. It used to work just fine when I could click the shutter myself.
    I’ve complained and spoken with many HSBC agents and they have no solution.
    So now during pandemic time I have to put my mask, gloves and disinfectant on and drive to the bank and make a deposit!
    Insane !! I have plenty of light on the check against a dark background and frame the check properly within the frame lines. I have the most current IO operating system on my phone. All to no avail.
    One of the agents actually told
    Me to go outside and take a photo of the check..it was raining and I said really that’s your solution ?
    C’mon IT step up and fix this crappy app or I’m closing my account that I’ve had with you for 40 yrs!!

  • Stay far away

    As a bank that has many benefits, this is the worst app ever. I wish I read the app reviews before joining with this bank because I regret it so much. HSBC has a lot of benefits and perks for those who travel and just need another bank account. But this app needs to do a complete 180, I have never been so frustrated with using an app before. Funds take sixty years to update and process in your account. Even when funds update transferring money from one account to another is a nightmare. This is the first time I have ever been bothered to write a review, only because I want to warn others. Please hire a better team!!

  • Embarrassing app

    This app must be from early 2000’s. The log in is so cumbersome..there is no Face Recognition option and it’s also not compatible with LastPass so you are stuck typing in the user ID and password EVERY SINGLE TIME! Then, the app doesn’t show my external linked accounts so I can’t make any transfers! The saving rate, account number and routing number are also nowhere to be found. Finally, clicking on any option in the menu causes the app to switch frames/screens to load new content. It’s not a smooth, contained in app experience. How can a huge organization release such garbage is puzzling.

  • Appsolutely Horrible

    This app needs some serious re-vamping, o updates or patches, just a complete gut job and start again, If I could rate negative stars I would.
    It’s horrendous, I’ve banked with quite a few banks (all the major banks, subsidiaries, mutual banks and credit unions I like to test different banks and features) and this has to be the WORST OF THEM ALL. The app is clunky, takes so long to load and is difficult to use. The best app by far is the CommBank app. If this app was even a shred bit like CBA’s app I’d have no issue. I joined for the the joining bonus and cash back offer but this is seriously making me wish I hadn’t. I hate this app. You cannot set up regular fortnightly transfers in the app (only via a web browser) despite being able to set up every other frequency of transfer via the app.
    I’ve resorted to using a third party app just to quickly be able to check my balance, even though I’m aware this probably voids some terms and conditions, it’s a risk I’m HAVING to take.

    0/5 stars - do not recommend at all. Steer clear. Avoid at all costs.

  • The worst

    Doesn’t deserve even 1 star.
    I never have an easy time using this app. Even the most simple of tasks becomes the must frustrating experience. It is slow and clunky and the need to generate codes and security keys when you’re already logged in is ridiculous. Not to mention having different login details between the app and the full website, I feel like I need a journal with all of my passwords/codes entered in just to not get it wrong every time.
    Currently overseas and also using the HSBC global card and it beyond frustrating trying to transfer money when needed. For a huge global bank this is extremely disappointing.

  • Worst app from a great bank

    How does a worldwide bank with a good rep have such a terrible app? This is the worst banking app I’ve ever had. Some simple changes - don’t make us click all the way through to our account to see our actual balance, just have our “available balance” as the one we can see! Pending transactions take days and even weeks sometimes. Why is it so slow? The layout and look of it is terrible.
    Not really much good to say about it unfortunately I’m just shocked that a reputable bank like this has such a pedestrian app
    Please fix ASAP it’s driving me and everyone I know who banks with you NUTS

  • HSBC Employee Review

    As a customer and an employee at HSBC, all I can say is that this bank needs to really step up their game or at the very least fire its online/mobile department. The app is completely counterintuitive and unreliable. Simple transactions are so much difficult to perform than needed. As a banker, I suffer through all the unfinished software that they keep trying to push out. You don’t know how many times where I’m 95% into opening an account for customers and the program crashes; I have to apologize to the customer and then ask them to come another day. It’s utterly embarrassing. When the app fails, not even the customer service can help you out. Half of the time theyre suffering software issues as well. I am sorry for the people who choose to bank here. The technology is backwards. Honestly HSBC USA is nothing compared to the one in HK.

  • Anxiety Every Time I have to deal with this Bank App

    One of the things in life that gives me anxiety is dealing with this bank’s apps. We have one for USA and UK and for each country they require a new digital security passcode each year. Each time we talk to someone in another country with lots of background noise and since we have to have help on our mobile phones, the call is so disconnected with frequent interruptions in words spoken both sides. The call takes around 45 mins. It’s a headache. Also the bank uses so many different terms for their codes: User Name, Password, Memorable Answer, Security Key Pin, Mobile Bank Application Passcode, then 2 Security Questions. So much so they need to be written down anyway! I don’t have this trouble with Wells Fargo nor Barclays.

  • Worst banking app

    This is the worst banking app. I always run into issues, wether it is that when I click “deposit” it freezes or keeps loading and I deposit it agin to find out that HSBC has charged me a fee because, according to them, I tried to deposit it twice, or simply when I click deposit it keeps on loading and I doesn’t go beyond that so I have to reboot my cell because there’s no other way to log off. I use Chase and Santander and they are sooo easy that I don’t know why I keep on depositing checks into my HSBC account other than it’s my primary account.
    They are, also, the worst when it comes to customer service. What it used to be a great bank has gone down the drain in no time. Don’t bother with the app. Deposit your checks through the ATM. And good luck with that too since sometimes the ATM doesn’t recognize the amount nor the check and you are at the mercy of waiting for business hours to deal with their lovely tellers.
