  • Should be so much better

Given PD is a market leader, this app is quite crude and only offers basic functionality.

It’s great to get incident notifications but dig a bit deeper and it’s not great.

Want to see who’s on call? The app shows a coloured bar where they can’t be bothered to center the name so you have to scroll around? Want to see who’s on tomorrow or the weekend? Well your out of luck...

Are you a manager and want to quickly see the progress of an open alert - well you have to fiddle with the sidebar to navigate to that as it defaults to showing you personally have no alerts...

Slack is integrated in the product, but click on an alert and it doesn’t launch this app? Maybe it’s a good thing as I don’t think you’ll see the useful graphs of the web version...

Overall - not that impressed honestly - this app should be a joy to use - with well thought out usage scenarios but sadly it’s a me too after thought.

  • Non-functional and non-intuitive

I manage a DevSecOps team that has need of a product that can manage alerting in a sane way. I was evaluating pager duty vs. some of the others out there, and a good mobile app is a large part of the decision.

The iPhone app doesn’t seem to even work for me on the iPhone X - I cannot make any changes to settings, switch screens - nothing.

On top of that, the app is not intuitive to use - it doesn’t function like any other iPhone app. If you have to have a user tip of the day for how to get to the menu, your UI may not be so great!

Nobody else on the team likes the app either, and anyone with an iPhone X has the same problems.

None of the other products in this space have a broken mobile app, and the ones I’ve used are intuitive and work extremely well - so it’s pretty easy for us to rule out pagerduty. Shame, because it’s an otherwise solid product - but the app is just critical in this space. First impressions are everything - the broken app means we will be putting our money elsewhere.

I am not one to give a one star review lightly... but it is clear that the mobile app isn’t taken as seriously as it should be. Until that changes, I can’t possibly recommend the product.

  • A necessary evil

Let's be honest, nobody wants to be on call. However, pageduty does make it a lot easier on you. Great app, well designed and integrated well with SNOW.
  • You have one job...

This app is just terrible especially in light of the cost of PagerDuty. It crashes often. Acknowledging a list of incidents (even just a couple, let alone like 20 when it's really needed) most of the time says that the operation failed and their team has been notified. But then maybe the op did complete anyway. Yet trash like "Take an OnCall selfie" get added. You've got one job, PagerDuty. Manage incident response. That's it. For $50/mon/user you can get that right. This is the first time I've reviewed an app; it's just so bad I had to. For shame.

  • Watch App needs a "resolve" button

Overall the app is pretty decent. Very limited alert sounds unfortunately, there's really only one acceptable/usable one and it's loud and annoying.

Watch app does not have a 'resolve' button which is a huge oversight unless you want to get constantly pinged after the few minutes 'acknowledge' timeout.. in other words its pretty useless becase you're going to have to snooze or resolve through a computer or the phone app anyway, which you're gonna forget until you get the second alert, which means you'll get at least 2 alerts for everything.

  • Alerts tend to take a long time to arrive

Alerts seem to take at least a minute to arrive sometimes two minutes.

This means that I can't rely on the app for alerts, but I must also add contact me by phone to my alerts, so I can ack in les than 90 seconds.

If the alerts don't need responded to right away, but just in the next few minutes it's probably fine. But, for sub one minute alerting you need to keep looking

  • Super buggy and unreliable

I generally don't write reviews but this has to be some of the buggies software I've ever used. Everytime I get a notification I can't action on it until I close the app and reopen. Timeouts are common when trying to ack and the application is generally pretty slow. At the point where I might just uninstall it since it provides no time savings over just getting texts from PD.

  • Handy tool

This app is much easier and user friendly while on the go. Dont have to login always to ack or resolve the issues.

    Please avoid while driving:)
  • Useful, slight improvements welcome

I find the app to be incredibly useful. Push notifications are quick and reliable. Handling of alerts is clear and straightforward. Custom sound, A+. One request: custom vibration. Like rings or texts. I often carry my phone during the day on silent and use custom vibrations to know whether or not to pull out my phone. I think the central notification framework would allow this, yes?

  • Audio alerts hit and miss a lot.

The message notifications work fine. Sure the device will vibrate but you sometimes but you need more than that at night. This app maybe worked twice. It's just too bad when your employer believes in the service in one hand and at the same time makes the employees look back in another. So the app is horrible for audio. You will have to rely on just getting the phone call instead.
