  • Incredible!

Wow oh wow, this app is truly amazing! I suffer from insomnia and horrific nightmares as a side effect of an essential medication I am on and my nightmares often wake me up several times a night upset and shaken. My friend told me about this app and at first I was a little sceptical as listening to things before bed has never helped me... until now. I put on a 30 minute sleep bible story just as I close my eyes and I haven’t had a single nightmare for 6 nights so far which has meant I have woken up feeling refreshed and ready to start the day rather than tired and still shaken. I wish I could give this app more than five stars, whoever developed this app deserves all the credit, well done and God bless.

  • Pre-review re pricing

Folks: I have not tried this yet but plan to. The cost is quite reasonable as I broke it down to $.10 a day or $3.33 a month. Come on! If I buy one coffee at a drive-through coffee merchant it cost me $5.75. The coffee is good but it is “vanity”, as once I drink it it’s gone.
This meditation program seems to help a lot of people and carry value beyond a quick fixBy directing people back to God and soothing daily disappointments. It is my habit to check out reviews on that in which I’m interested before I purchase or go forward. I’ve looked at many, many reviews both good and bad. Many people claim to have been deceived by the free trial and then the cost. I went to the Apple App Store to see the details and evaluate the cost. Anybody could do it. All you have to do is a little research.
I gave it 5. I really haven’t used it yet but I’m sure it will prove quite valuable based on what I’ve read and I look forward to using this on a daily basis.

  • Six weeks and going strong.

As the title indicates I have been using Abide everyday for about 6 weeks. My Dr. recommended the app to me after I had shared that i was learning about and becoming interested in meditation. My interest was ignited at a retreat where I was led in meditation each morning. . I liked the idea of being led because I didnt have any idea what teachings I need to think abou. I was also wanting some accountability. Abide has provide all these things and more.

Having Abide has been like having a personal trainer for my spirituality. I can take today’s meditation or chose from the many topics available in the Abide library. Whatever topic I choose I feel like I always get just the right content I need to guide me in the direction that God wants to take me on that day. I really like that I can specify the amount of time I want to spend each morning (2-15 minutes) which means I can always fit meditation into my morning.

Thanks Abide for partnering with me to grow my spirituality and get centered for each new day.

  • Seems good

Didn’t use it for a while at first as it seemed to bash eastern meditation once calling it the enemy but have since started using it more fully and finding it really useful, it’s better for me then headspace as it has background white noise during the meditations plus your focusing on scripture while you meditate rather then breath. The night time sleep meditations are a tad repetitive during the duration of the track but still works fairly well after all you don’t want anything too stimulating at sleepy time

  • Dangerous

This is skirting a very dangerous line. In no way are we to appropriate the eastern religious form of meditation, focusing on breathing and relaxing our minds. Biblical meditation is very specific and deliberate; and as far as I can tell, this app doesn’t have any teaching on what biblical meditation is and isn’t! This has the potential to lead many into the wrong kind of meditations while thinking it’s okay because “it’s similar to the meditations in this app, and this app is Christian so it’s okay isn’t it? I’m using God’s name so it’s okay isn’t it?” Just because we add God to something doesn’t suddenly make it biblical.

New age practices like this are sneaking into the church, and it’s not okay. Watch videos on law of attraction by Nastasia Grace, for example, to see just how we can be deceived as Christians by cherry picking and twisting scriptures to support truly unbiblical practices with unbiblical origins (who twisted scripture in the Bible? The enemy, in the garden of Eden and to Jesus in the wilderness!). Starting with a practice and changing some of its details to fit God into it, doesn’t make it biblical. We start with the Bible first. And learn what “meditate” really is in the Bible before thinking that it’s the same as eastern style meditation.

This app has the potential to open doors into new age practices when it’s not separating itself from them. Instead, it looks just like them only with God thrown in.

Hello Emmy Anne and thank you for your feedback on Abide and please know we have given this a great deal of thought and insight. "Mindfulness" is the latest buzz word in health and wellness. It's the latest trend in secular mental health circles. Here at Abide we seek to reclaim the prayer and meditation space that Jesus taught, yet hijacked by Buddhism, Hinduism, and New Age thought. We don't use "mindfulness" in the way secular practitioners do. Yet, aren't Christians called to be mindful—mindful of our unity with Christ, mindful of our sinful behavior, mindful of our need for a Savior, and the presence of his Spirit? Having said that, we are to pray without ceasing and be "mindful" of God's Word as we wake and as we sleep. And it’s with that awareness that we can live with gratitude and move towards others with compassion. One way we are to be “mindful” Christians is through prayer: we are to live our lives as we “pray without ceasing” (I Thessalonians 5 v 17). The word “without ceasing” does not mean “non-stop” but “constantly recurring”—in other words, we are encouraged to punctuate our daily lives with intervals of prayer. You might describe this as living with a moment by moment mindfulness of God’s presence with us. Christians have a personal, loving, accepting, forgiving, gracious and present Savior, who aides us day by day through the work of the Holy Spirit within us. As we go about our daily lives, with all of the stresses and busyness, we are constantly invited to be mindful of God’s presence with us, his care for us, and the new power in us that He has provided to face each moment of each day. Nehemiah 9:17 gives us a good understanding. "They refused to obey and were not mindful of the wonders that you performed among them, but they stiffened their neck and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them."With anxiety levels at all-time highs we seek to help people be mindful of how to control our focus so that instead of paying attention to the fantasies we create in our imagination, we pay attention to the reality that is occurring outside of the space between our two ears. We seek to help people be mindful in a way that means “coming to our senses.” It is a way of plugging ourselves into God's reality instead of letting the creations of our minds (often pushed by the Enemy) dictate what we pay attention to. I hope that helps. Blessings to you always! We would love to speak with you on this subject, if you are okay with this, please contact me, Kelly@abide.co (not .com) with a number we can reach you!
  • Excellent

I’ve used the Calm app on and off over the last 4 years when it was recommended to me by my medical doctor at Kaiser after my son died in a motorcycle accident. I was in the midst of deep grief and she thought it would help me. I eventually stopped paying for it because I wasn’t really getting much out of it anymore. Earlier this year Kaiser also offered it for free as we entered into the isolation of a global pandemic.
Meditation has never been my thing, but I did occasionally like the calm voice that would lead me through some breathing exercises in that other app.
Last week a couple of other apps were recommended to me and I wanted to take a moment to shout this one out: Abide
I’ve used it every day since downloading it on Wednesday or Thursday of last week. It’s very similar to Calm with the main difference being that it speaks Scripture over you. Some might think that is a subtle difference, but for me it has been everything. Being able to simply let go and to trust everything I’m hearing without having to sift through the the messages makes all the difference in how my mind relaxes.
    I can’t recommend this enough!

Hi 2xjms!! Thank you so much for sharing your story!! Thank you so much for praying with us and for recommending the app. May the Lord bless you and keep you, and make his face shine on you and give you peace. 🙏🏼😇
  • Amazing APP!!!!

Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about it! 😄 It has a variety of options in what to listen to, and how to utilize it. You can pick your background music/and or sounds (I like the sound of the babbling brook), while you listen to God’s word, an encouraging message, and prayer. You can journal and take notes, or just sit back and breathe, without having to worry about anything. You can click on how long of a time you want to listen to the speaker (which, every speaker has a very calming demeanor and voice, and is encouraging). You do have to pay for extra things, and if you want the message/speaker to go longer, but it’s DEFINITELY worth the extra buck for it! And if you don’t have the money, the app still supplies some nice free options as well. 🤗 Over all, this is a huge encouragement, has helped my anxiety disorder, as well as I’m insomnia. It really helps you breathe while focusing on God’s word and truth. If you download this app, you won’t regret it. 🙌🏻💕

  • Amazing app! Download it NOW!! 😊

About 4 night ago I couldn’t sleep. It was nearly 3am and I was panicking as I had to get up at 7 am. My room was far too warm. I tried drinking water and opening my door. Nothing work. I had seen apps like this on Facebook ads. I thought I might as well try it and see.
I put it on for half an hour and I was nearly asleep. I just turned the app off and went straight to sleep.
Last night I was feeling very anxious. I tried calming myself done. Nothing worked. I then remembered that there was something on the app about clutter. The reason for my anxiety was about clutter. I put it on for 30 mins. And again I was nearly falling asleep. And once I turned the app off I was fast asleep.
This app has really helped me to quiet my thoughts and insecurities. Which I believe has stopped my sleeping properly.
From from tonight I am adding this app to my sleeping routine.
Whoever is reading this and is identifying to what I found about sleep PLEASE use this app. It was help you so much! 😊
