Love this bank and the app. Only thing is I wish it that it was easier to tell in the transactions which is a deposit vs. withdrawals. It all looks the same and would be nice if there was some differentiating factor (e.g. red/green or a +/-) or something. Other than that, I love the how secure and simple it is to use.

Could use some work since this app is how 90% use this bank

I like how FaceID always works for getting in. However, multiple times it’s made me verify my ID thru my phone number. Then, I select “register,” but I’ve selected “register” multiple times on this device. The check depositing feature works fine. It actually didn’t work on my google pixel, but that might be because those phones are hot—pun intended—garbage. I find that the UI could look a tad nicer, although it’s fully functional. It’s just that, when almost everyone who uses this bank is going to access it through his phone, you might as well make the app look pretty. And add dark mode. I guess old people think dark mode makes apps look sketchy/scary because almost no financial apps have it, but it’s better on your eyes and (modern) phone batteries.

Great bank for business!

So glad I found this bank. Easy setup process and has all the features I was looking for in a business account.

Sometimes it works, Sometimes it doesn’t

This app isn’t the best and it has issues often. These issues range from refusing to log me in, logging in with a blank screen, unable to calculate my account balances, not updating my account, lagging for days, and other not fun issues that bank apps shouldn’t be doing.

Great app, great bank!

I have been very pleased with this bank and the recent developments I’ve seen take place on the app in the past 2 years I’ve been banking with them. The budgeting aspect of the app has been very crucial for me to target my spending and helped me allocate funds to necessities before I go ham and spend on my luxuries! ;) I’ve enjoyed the saving accounts feature to be able to easily save for important life events and has been overall a great experience for me! Thanks NBKC! I was initially hesitant to not have a bank within driving distance/brick and mortar but it has been nothing but a positive experience.

We appreciate having an app for easy access to our account.

Here are some suggestions that would make the app more beneficial to online users:

1) Provide images of checks deposited. There is no documentation in the system that displays. Therefore, there is no online banking access to payor information or images of checks we write or other details required to validate check deposits or check withdrawals

2) The lack of access to Zelle compelled us to open another account with Bank of America. We would prefer to bank exclusively with NBKC.

3) Of late we have been depositing checks via the mobile app that were not deposited due to image related issues or “the account could not be found.” NBKC should notify customers when deposits fail due to image related issues. We must always follow up on deposits as there is no alert from NBKC that explains the details of deposit declines. The check with the account that “could not be located” was apparently never presented to the check writer’s bank. When we tried to resubmit, the system recognized the check and would not accept a redeposit.

These are just a few issues that have been a source of frustration in our attempts to work with NBKC.

Otherwise, the app is convenient and easy to use.

Great bank

So many banks made things a bit difficult. But NBKC has been good to me. I love it. I just wish there were push notifications for when my debit card is charged. The alerts choices in the app are outdated. Push notifications add the security I need. Instead of logging in to see activity hour of the day lol otherwise amazing experience I’ve had!!!

Initially promising but...

I’ve been holding a business checking account for a few months now. Here is my objective and factual take on this bank.

1) You have to pay about $20 for your first set of 50 checks. Other banks provide these for free, at least your first checkbook. Which in my case also took about a month to arrive, making it very difficult to issue payments to vendors and employees.

2) Your check deposits are automatically placed on a 5 business day hold. I don’t care what they write in response to this review, that is the truth. Every time I’ve asked ‘why’, I’ve been told by customer service that this is the case with new business accounts ‘until they feel comfortable with its history and age to reduce it to the typical 3 day hold’. Are you kidding me! How can your customers’ businesses thrive if you sequester THEIR money, with which they’re trying to grow their business to be able to entrust more money into your care?

Please, listen to your customers and adapt to their needs and the times we live in. I understand you need to hold a certain volume of deposits in order to make with interest the money you may not be making with fees. But these arbitrary rules that cut off the very resources that your business customers need to survive, undo much of the potential you all have to offer decent consumer services and products.

You can learn a thing or two in this regard from Capital One and SoFi, in the meantime you’ve lost yet another customer.

It’s ok

The app works for the most part. I can’t get the function that allows you to link other banks into there site to work for some of the banks I do business with. So it’s disappointing that they released a function that doesn’t completely work. And Pay People (p2p)seems to sometimes not allow eligible cards to pick up money. They aren’t always responsive to secure messages. The account itself they offer is good. And most the other functions on the app work well. It would be nice if you could verify an external account on the app so you would have to go to a PC to do that.

Thank you for the feedback! For connecting to other banks, some smaller financial institutions do not have a partnership that would allow us to aggregate information from other accounts. If you'd like to reach out to us and let us know which financial institutions you're trying to connect to, we can research more on how to best connect to those. Verifying external accounts is not currently offered on the mobile app. This is something that our team is currently working on implementing. Exceptional Service

I've never had a bank that actually has a real person answering the phone. Especially people that aren't reading from a script and that actually utilize the brain in their head to solve problems on their own instead of searching their database and transferring you until you're finally hung up on or hang up in frustration. I literally had to research this nbkc several times just to make sure they were a legit bank because the service is that impressive! This is personal banking at it's best! Revolutionary, really.
