  • Perfect for beginners

    Great app man, well done
  • First time its clicked!

I’ve tried to learn theory in the past and concepts do always stick but I’ve never had it come together really. So far, this is looking very promising!
  • Amazing Learning Tool

I’ve played guitar for many years and always struggled with music theory. Waay made it so I finally grasped the circle of fifths and was able to apply it, which has really vaulted my playing and understanding to another level.
  • Okay but no explanation of which minor scales are taught...

When learning minor scales I have recently found out that each one is the ascending part of the melodic minor - this would’ve been good to know before starting with the other descending part also explained along with the difference between this and the harmonic minor scale.

Also, there is no way of contacting the app creators via email, chatbot or phone.

Hey, thanks for the review. In the two courses we focus on the natural minor, as it is a very commonly used minor scale in popular music—and has a very interesting relationship with the major scale too! You can get a breakdown of the whole curriculum in the App Store description, if you'd like to see what else we cover. You can contact us anytime simply by tapping "Send a note" in the app's sidebar; our website's contact form is another option (just scroll down on any page); the third option is to email direct at alex[at]tenkettles[dot]com. • Intuitive and straight to the point

I started music theory recently with a few beginner audio books. I also bought a hard copy to supplement my learning. While the one I am using is really good it is broad and intense.

What I love about these app lessons is how much territory this covers in a clear and concise manner.

Did I say how fast learning these lessons are? I was up to speed in a fraction of the time compared to the books I am studying.

This teacher is very, very good and I hope the lessons are expanded. Well worth the $$$.

  • Clear, concise easy to understand basic theory lessons

Very well organized intro to basic music theory with guided skill building exercises. Very clearly presented with a logical flow that builds on what you’ve learned. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I was able to learn in just a few days. This app demystifies music basics for beginners and tracks your progress as your knowledge base increases. I highly recommend it.

  • Great app, could use iCloud sync for progress

I use iPhone and an iPad so it’d be nice if my progress synced across all my devices. Otherwise I love the app.

  • The memorization app I needed!

As someone learning music theory on guitar, I was looking for a way to commit everything to memory: scales, accidentals, intervals, chords etc. This is the perfect way to work on those skills when not in front on your instrument. I almost went down the path of learning to make an app myself just to create an easy way to quiz myself. So glad I found Waay first.
