  • Useless

The app is useless in that it’s not up to date on balance of account, there’s no transaction listings as on the website so I don’t know if money I’ve paid has been deducted or not. While it lists my usage I want to know what’s owing and if I have to sign in o the website to find this out why do I need the app? For example, the app said I was overdue an amount from my last bill so I panicked and paid it, only to sign into the website this morning and I’m actually in credit! And by more than I paid last night that was “overdue”! Get the info right on the app or I won’t use it to check my bills anymore because that info isn’t there! Waste of my time.

Thanks for the feedback - sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience. We're working to improve the presentation of usage information within the app and transparency around your bills, so I hope you'll give it another try down the line. In the meantime, if there's anything we can assist with, please let us know over at https://www.agl.com.au/appfeedback
  • The app and ussage

I love the app. Idk like to see what is going on and at what time. S case recently was I was cleaning my pool at 11am and was distracted and forgot to put my switch from on to auto. The result was that 3 days later I noticed on my app a huge spike in my usage. When I went to investigate why I went back out to the pool and found it running on the on switch instead of. The Auto switch. My pool had been running for 3 days 24 hrs. My. Bill is huge so far for only 4 days.

Thanks for the review kutadye. There will always be a bit of a lag because there's at least a 24-hour delay to us receiving your usage info, but longer delays might have other causes. If you'd like us to look into it, let us know at https://agl.com.au/appfeedback
  • The worst utility company EVER.

AGL’s communication is appalling. The app chat feature is even worse. After questioning an extra $200 on our power bill, I was asked to send photos of our meter. Then to receive a reply stating what they had was different and if they were to update my account based on the reading I provided my bill would increase further. Without our consent they updated the reading and reissued another bill that was double what we are usually charged, erased and closed the chat history conversation window, deactivated MY account and sent us sms prompts to basically hurry up and pay.
We still don’t have an explanation and feel like we have been punished for even questioning the increase. No one has called, emailed or reached out despite multiple requests to actually speak with somebody.
I will NEVER use AGL ever again nor would we recommend to anyone at all really.

  • Poor user experience for manual entries

This app is extremely frustrating in that it constantly gives me an error when trying to enter manual meter readings (I don’t have a smart meter). Each time I have to reach out to support and they require photos of the meter reading to verify, this whole process can take days to resolve.
I am assuming that because my energy usage fluctuates that it flagging my account in the back end
It’s a really poor experience for me to constantly be needing to verify my readings instead of me being freely able to enter them.
I am just trying to track my energy usage and spend, If AGL doesn’t trust my readings then just come and do a manual reading at end of the billing period, or ask for a photo at end of billing period, it shouldn’t need to be something that is verified during the billing period.

  • Useless app

I feel scammed by this app. It says to monitor your hourly usage, but they don’t say it can take up to 48 business hours for your usage to be shown.
Also when you install a smart meter to fully use the app, they don’t say you will be slugged with a demand tariff that charges double your maximum load from 4 to 9pm, then multiplies it by some sliding amount and then charges you that additional fee for the entire month.
The AGL rep said there was a threshold and a normalised usage shown at 4pm which is a load of garbage. Not to mention that they do not even know what the threshold is or what the demand tariff fee will actually be.
They also said it is impossible to move back to a flat fee or replace the meter with the regular one.

  • Timing of data

Provision of data on usage is not up to date and in many instances 2 days behind, which doesn’t help in being able to monitor and adjust usage patterns. With the DEMAND PENALTY being applied for a complete month, based on highest usage for a single 1 hour time period, the app doesn’t provide any on time assistance.
In addition neither the app or AGL personnel are capable of indicating when each half hour time band usage is recorded.
This is supported by the fact that a number of half hour periods, heavy demand usage is indicated by the app, which is impossible as I have made sure equipment such as air condition is switched off and no cooking equipment is used.

  • Balance not accurate, but good otherwise

Great app for keeping track of your daily usage, however the $ figures on the app bill summary widget are pretty in a inaccurate and fluctuate without reason.

Eg Often on a single day, I’ll feed $5 credit into the grid (displayed/confirmed on the app) and buy $2. So you’d think my mtd bill would get a $3 credit. However the running monthly total might only credit by $.50c-$1.

On top of that, I’ve usually go into a summer monthly bill cycle with about $40 credits due to solar, again all confirmed in the monthly running total in the app. Bill comes the next day and credit is now only like $10.

No explanation for the variance or difference. However the costs/running totals are never accurate which is kind of frustrating.

The only explanation I can think of it that the monthly Total summary doesn’t include the daily charge, or the charge for having solar. But if so, why the double discrepancy for both days and monthly totals, and also why not just include that in the app so the running total is actually accurate?

  • App problems for too long

We have tried for too many weeks to get all our accounts viewable on the app. Up until a few weeks ago everything was visible then it stopped. 2 hours on the chat line and finally the gas appeared the consultant assured me the electric would appear as he had escalated the problem. Nothing happened today another extended time on chat and once again the consultant assured me the electric would appear and I would e transferred to another consultant to put the internet on the app. Alas the chat was disconnected. No joy there. Finally I log into the app yes electric account showing now the gas is not, so so frustrating we have been very loyal the AGL infact over 30 years with Gas we have electric gas and internet with AGL. I cannot believe that it’s so difficult for staff to get this right .
That’s my review I don’t suppose anyone will read it or act on it. I will make one final phone call if it’s not sorted we will shift companies.

  • 100% Recommend

Honestly I never leave reviews but this app has CHANGED MY LIFE🤩 for the better that it’s worth letting others know. We were always behind on bills and it was so financially stressful, having to wait for the bill to arrive and struggling to find time of day to pay. This app made it so convenient at the touch of a button. We also get to see the bill projection in advance so we know exactly how much to put aside weekly. To say I LOVE THIS APP, does it no justice. My appreciation to whoever created this gem. ❤️👌

  • Make the billing page the first page for the app

Hi - this is a brilliant way to keep on top of your utilities - but I think the billing page should be the page that opens first - because it’s the main reason people use the app - and if you randomly open the app to check if you have any outstanding bills, it’s not apparent with out navigation. Or put an “alert” icon/ red dot on “billing” tab along the bottom of screen to indicate there’s a bill owing!
