Afterpay is great and convenient, you pay over time on your product and it’s tied with Cash App . I been using both for years and I love it . They give you the money to barrow and pay back in time, every 2 weeks you pay a portion till it’s paid off
No transparency
I have had perfect payment. Though they keep lowering the number of things I can have out at once. There is no where that tells you your limit. They just say pay off orders when you try to use it. I paid off four orders and am still not able to use it. This app sucks. I don’t know anyone who punishes you for perfect payment history. Call and talked to them one the phone employees don’t know the algorithm either. There are much better more up front pay over time apps than this one. Be careful if you call the people barely speak English and will dispute stuff you don’t ask them too. This is a horrible app don’t use.

Inaccessible customer service and random freezes
They froze my account till I could prove I’m a rea person. They asked for one bill and a drivers license. I provided 2 bills a lease agreement and my drivers license and theres still a freeze on my account a week later. My friend had to google a phone number for them which worked once I navigated the difficult ai bot. They have a LOT of progress that needs to be made. They did all this after I PAID OFF EARLY. How dare I not pay late???? Also my account is STILL frozen. I have now have to provide documents proving my identity THREE times because they keep losing them and all they keep telling me is “just keep waiting theres nothing I can do” so don’t do it. This app is a scam. Reporting it to the attorney general today.

Great many years ago
I have had Afterpay for several years. I worked my way up to a $2,000 limit. Then it dropped to $50 last year for being a couple of days late. I got up to $200 and they dropped me to $50 again because they couldn’t charge my card right away. Even though the balance was paid the same day they still dropped me back down to $50. I’m over it

Horrible. Don’t Use!!!
I have repeatedly asked to speak to an agent to resolve this issue, and I’m repeatedly being sent the same general message. I submitted this information to the link days ago. I have given my driver’s license and submitted proof to the link I was given. Why would I be trying to commit fraud while also paying you all back at the same time? I will no longer be a customer. Horrible experience. My account has been frozen for days.

FICO REPORTS installments
Be weary of using the services going forward. As someone with a 752 credit score I am so insanely worried about how FICO adding installment payments will affect me. I do not miss payments and I pay every installment I ever had however, the impact this will have on be Negative despite.
It also is highly unethical that the company did not disclose this directly. They probably updated their terms and use secretly and kept it pushing.
If you can afford to pay in full, do not apps for the sake of convenience. It will cost you so much more This will be my biggest regret as I repair my credit once this affects it.

Cant Use After Years of Building
I recently tried using Afterpay for a purchase that I couldn’t afford to pay all at once. Every time I reached checkout, the app let me select a payment plan like everything was working, but as soon as I confirmed it, I got a generic “Something went wrong” error. This happened every single time.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I have a $3,000 spending limit, have never missed a payment, and have always paid on time. I contacted customer support hoping they could fix the issue, but the AI assistant was completely unhelpful. It just kept repeating basic troubleshooting steps like closing and reopening the app. When I finally requested a live agent, I received a generic response telling me to use another payment method instead of Afterpay—without explaining why the transaction kept failing or offering a real solution.
In my experience, Afterpay has been one of the most unreliable buy now, pay later services I’ve used. It doesn’t work consistently, even at stores that are listed as accepting Afterpay. If you need a payment service you can actually depend on, I’d recommend looking into Klarna or Affirm instead. They’ve been much more reliable in my experience.

Never enrolled with them
I don’t know why they continue to email me about outstanding balances when I never did anything with this place. I’ve tried calling and leaving messages but it wants me to setup an account. Another way to try and take money from me. I never filled anything out so stop trying to get money from me!
worst shopping experience ever
I will try to be as succinct as possible as I have already probably wasted 10 hours plus dealing with their alleged customer service team, customer service managers, etc. Long story short, they invoiced me twice – exact duplicates – for an order I made around Christmas 2025. Around that same time I also ordered two books for which they charged me over $150 but actually came out to $32 and change. One of my payments I made to them, before I discovered this mess weeks later, as my mother-in-law passed away at this same time and so I got distracted, I made a payment for $46.72 using my Chase debit card that was deducted from my Chase checking account but Afterpay has no signs of it anywhere. And they totally dodged Chase when I filed a claim with Chase, and so they were able to expire the 90-day clock that Chase uses to investigate claims and therefore throw up their arms and walk away from it. after all this nonsense I’ve been going through with them for over six months, they still claim that I owe them $161 and change and this is after I had over $200 in returns including one for $123 that they claim they have no signs of either even though I sent them a screenshot from my Amazon chat. utterly ridiculous and unprofessional. I recommend highly that you avoid this platform. There’s plenty of others out there.

The same thing happened to me that happened to meany others. They discriminate against those who are poor and lower income despite the fact that those are the people they target. If you let even the smallest bill be overdue for too long, even if you were hospitalized several times, jobless, nearly homeless, broke, no way to pay it. And then eventually pay it off in full. It doesn’t matter. They will ban you from using this service ever again. They do not care about you or your life. They target those that are not wealthy enough to make payments in full and don’t care if you pay off a bill that was past due. They will terminate services for the rest of your life and never allow you to use it again. Even if your finical situation changes. Even if years go by. Even if 50 years past. This policy is ridiculous and very discriminatory against people with lower income. Life happens and when it does it can prevent even the smallest bill from being paid and it can just slip right past you. They don’t have any grace for anyone. They dont have empathy for anyone or any situation of any kind. They will terminate services forever and never allow you to use it again over one small bill that was overdue. Don’t bother using this greedy corporate run app. They don’t care about you, your life, they don’t want to benefit you, they don’t want to help you, and they will terminate services and tell you that you can never use it again and will never offer it and that you cannot make another account or do anything to change this. Ridiculous and drastic measures that are taken. They can’t even let you start small again with paying back a $10 or $15 bill. Nope. They have no grace or empathy as I said. They won’t give you second chances. They don’t care.

Firsti thought afterpay was the best !!! Then my check was delayed by 4 days I paid my bill they paused my account told me I had to built good payment history back up after being with them 2years !!! Definitely paying them off and never using again

Helps me buy what I need either in-store or online. The gift cards help with grocery shopping when short on cash and the customer service is always helpful if I have any questions are issues. 1000% recommend
