Thankful for the payout (on $2477), decent app too.

Edit: the price goes up unannounced. I’m now paying around $80 for just my dog. Still it’s peace of mind, but I don’t like unannounced and no-reason price hikes.

The app doesn’t ~do~ much, but it shows me the info I want. My account, pets, payment history, the basics.

As for the service, I unfortunately had to use aspca on April 1, 2024. My cat went to the cosmos.
For my dog and my cat, the total monthly bill was less than $70, with a $250 deductible, 80% reimbursement, and $5000 limit for each.
I signed up November 2023, begrudgingly, because it’s a continual payment for effectively nothing in return while my pets are healthy.

But when my cat got sick way faster than I could keep up with, and vets couldn’t keep him alive, aspca did come through. It took a month or two of staying on top of them, and having my cat’s medical records available.
But as long as there’s no pre-existing medical history on the cause of his death, which there wasn’t, aspca paid out.

The emergency vet’s cost for their efforts and management of the body, was $2477. ASPCA paid me just more than $1900, even after just five months. I paid aspca no more than $350 so far, and they gave me $1900+.
That’s such a major help in my current living situation. I’d be stuck with that bill for YEARS if not for aspca (and a shoutout to CareCredit).

I’m gonna say “thank you for the financial aid” in the form of this app review, and by paying them $45ish/mo for my dog until he crosses the rainbow bridge.

It stings to start pet insurance if you’re not middle-class or up, but you need to start it. Add seaweed to your ramen, and keep your furry angels well.

Will charge you even if you don’t want the service anymore !!

They stopped charging me in 2025 as the service sucks. You have to have it for 3-6 months prior to being able to make a claim which renders the insurance useless. Every time my pet has had an emergency they were unwilling to assist in payment so I stopped paying. No option to close the service and if you attempt to call their customer service line it won’t connect you to anything. In 2026 they picked up charging me again but charged me twice in one month for 127 dollars even though I had only been paying 60 something, I made a claim against it and they went ahead and charged me another 65 dollars. Do not choose this place! They don’t care about your pets! They just care about money!!

Glitches

It used to be sooo easy to submit a claim on the member site. It has become nearly impossible. I keep getting the "hang tough we're working on it" freeze and I either have to re-enter the information or it won't let me. Entering a claim on the website by email is much more time consuming to start with. I have been happy until now...been with ASPCA for five years. Please fix the member site glitches!

App/Website Update Sucks

I never used to have a problem with this app or the website, but ever since they did the update that requires a verification code it doesn’t work. The app won’t pop up with a window to input the code and when I try to do it via the website it doesn’t let me hit the submit button after entering the code.

DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE

This is the worst insurance ever!! This people does not explain you their real coverage or when it actually starts. If you do a claim before 15 days, they will not cover your pet at that time, and they will not do it ever in their life. Because it is in the “record” that you pet had it before the 15 days period.
Before you do anything, it is better to call as you will cancel the coverage and they will tell you all the real policies. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS INSURANCE !
