Poor customer service
By far the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I was falsely issued a fine under my name, yet received no apology or compensation. My account was then suspended without any explanation, and instead of telling me the reason, they expected me to contact them to find out myself. Extremely unprofessional and treating long term customer like dog.

New app is trash
App is hot garbage. I can even see my area on the map, it refuses to scroll over a certain distance. What a disaster of an update
App ‘upgrade’ isn’t an upgrade
If you’re planning to sign up, I’d suggest also having a look at Flexicar and/or GoGet.
Popcar have changed not only their app, but their terms as well.
The minimum booking period is now 1hr (it used to be whatever time you wanted it for).
You can only book on the quarter hour (eg 8.15, 8.30, 8.45 etc). It used to be any minute you wanted.
Many of the cars are ‘under maintenance’ today (17 June 2026). Hopefully they sort them out soon so they can be booked.
The dots showing available cars are tiny - not a big deal but you’d think they could at least be bigger than the green dots showing tram stops.
I’m a long-tern user of Popcar - they were previously the best out there (by far).
However, with these new minimum booking periods and time restrictions, it’s a waiting game to see if this ‘upgraded app’ is any more than an excuse for increased revenue.

Quality vehicles inconvenient locations. Vehicles are in great condition and pop car are the best car share service in Sydney.
Sign -up process very poor
Was rejected when trying to sign up, with no clear reason. Help line suggested it was because my address was too far from a popcar location. This is a check that could easily be done automatically as part of the sign up process, instead of wasting days of my time.
Terrible app
Do not use this service!! Popcar are the worst car rental service I have used yet. They pull you in with cheap prices but you are hit with large fees when you are finished with the car. The customer service are rude and unwilling to help. I would advise everyone to use other similar companies.
BESTEVER Car Rental App
Popcar is by far the best car rental app I’ve ever used! The app is incredibly well-designed, making it easy to manage everything seamlessly from booking to return. The entire process feels well-organized and hassle-free. My only wish is for Popcar to expand its car availability to more cities across Australia. Highly recommended!

Overly complicated for drivers with an international license
I’ve provided my international drivers license. Because I’m a temporary resident for a year I was also asked for my visa, passport and utility bills. I provided all the documents and blacked out my passport number for safety. Popcar wouldn’t finalise my registration unless I‘d send my passport without blacking out that detail. This is sensitive data and Popcar is already in possession of numerous ID documents of mine including information like place and date of birth, full name, address, number of my local and international drivers license. I think that should be enough personal details to rent a car.

Exceptional value for money
They have improved the app very well without increasing the prices. Hope they have more CBD locations to benefit people without cars like myself. Kudos to the whole team behind popcar I highly recommend them

Absolutely shocking!
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. If you are interstate don’t even bother with this app as it’s only for Canberra residents. Even if like me your staying in Canberra for 3 months. Easy support person I spoke to said something different.
Misleading App
The app shows that you can now book for a fee. No step tells you that it's not possible because there's some kind of check pending. And then you stand in front of the car because you urgently need to go somewhere, click on book now and only then are you told that it won't work
Joke of a business
I had an account with pop car, had been using it as I needed, then was requested to resubmit my licence again which did. I have a valid licence with no issues and they have no determined that it’s not valid and I can’t use the service. No explanation or help to get me active again using the platform. 0 stars if I could for customer service.

Great customer service
Had a little trouble validating the drivers license but the agents helped via email.
Customer Service shocking
Signed up and did my licence validation stuff and got an email stating it needed more info and listing a number of scenarios in a stock cut and paste email that gave no real information on why it was not accepted emailed them back and my licence verification was reset and I did it again only to get another vague cut and paste email saying I was rejected and to refer to the tncs emailed back to ask for specifics and got back another cut and paste email. Deleted app and will not be using service ever

Do not trust Popcar
Popcar is completely unreliable. From the app to the “support” to the actual cars, Popcar is useless. Do not trust Popcar with your transportation. So dodgy.
Scam alert
Do not download this app. I was scammed and money was taken from my bank account and still denied access to the app for no reason. When I contacted them via email for a refund they simply ignored me.
