  • Save $5K and run from this system

    I cannot believe this app actually passes Apple’s own security requirements and probably needs a review. Horrendous user interface would be kind. Clearly done as an 8th grade computer science project. App crashes and needs to be re-associated with the box after a few uses. The physical security is a complete joke(which is why you would buy this system) , for instance association can be done with a manufacture passcode that is hard coded, can be assumed by anyone with this app running on an IOS device and is illegal under the California Consumer Protection Act. Total joke. Apple should force this off the App Store, which would then require the manufacturer to make it both secure and usable. Wish there was a zero rating

    Do not purchase! Expensive junk. App takes 15 seconds to load after 15 second leg time after person presses intercom button. Severely disappointing.
  • Well constructed intercom - awful app control

    I recently had the predator WiFi 2 device fitted to our front gates because of problems with the original hardwired intercom device. It required combined skills of electrician, intercom specialist and Wifi expert. Eventually it was fitted successfully, but getting WiFi signal from a very well insulated property to the gates (barely 10m away), remains problematic.
    Given the cost of the intercom device (albeit very well constructed), one would have expected the app - on which the whole thing depends - to be of similar quality. Unfortunately, as others have commented, it has a very 20th century look to it.
    There is not option for screen rotation
    Buttons are huge, yet despite this text and icons overlap.
    Home page buttons are partly off the top of the screen (on iPhone X) making ‘settings’ very difficult to access.
    Relay triggers are modifiable - but only up to 9 secs - this isn’t long enough for the gate to close before it locks out.

    People have commented on similar concerns over the last 12 months, but is anything being done to resolve this? I don’t see any evidence of improvements.

    2 updates in last 24hrs. App has never worked well - extremely slow - but since updates, works on tablet, but does not ring on iPhone. Any suggestions? Currently completely unfit for purpose.

  • Such a let down!

    I had a Predator 1 that stopped sending me gate notifications a few months back, so I decided to upgrade to the new AES Predator 2, and downloaded this new app.

    WiFi doesn't work for me, so I hardwired it with a LAN connection and power line adapters. I now receive notifications but the sound of the microphone in the new model is really poor.

    Also the IR camera is so bright, that it completely "whites out" the person calling at the gate, to the extent you can not see who is at the gate in the evenings.

    With regard to the new app, it is a minor improvement on the old one but still looks terribly dated and annoyingly vibrates on every single click.

    The video on the app works in portrait mode, but records video in landscape mode, which distorts the video during playback mode. The user also has to manually set the video to record during a conversation. Why can't it record automatically and be stored (eg last 10 gate calls)?

    I hope the developer and manufacturers AES, read this and can work to fix these problems.

    Great looking product but a bit of a let down for the price!

  • A 100% disappointment

    We purchased this gate opening product and downloaded the app less than one month ago. I can not stress enough how extremely disappointed we are with this system.

    The app doesn’t work worth a darn. While the technician was installing it, and having difficulty with it, I took a look at these reviews. I told him then and there I am worried about it due to the poor ratings it had.

    Unfortunately, we are experiencing the same problems others state on this site. As it stands, the company who installed it is in contact with this company to try and resolve things.

    Quite honestly, I am not hopeful but rather feel we have just wasted $4,000 on a product that literally doesn’t work.

    I urge anyone who is considering this product to use extreme caution. Unless this company does a major overhaul on their product and it’s app, DO NOT waste your money!

  • Terrible app and equipment

    I have spent months trying to get this to function correctly , everything the previous reviewer ps say is correct , the app is so bad it’s laughable , the time between calling at the gate and receiving notifications is so long the caller has usually disappeared by the time you answer, the rep says it’s this and that , can’t get any decent tech support , I’m furious as it’s a lot of money to ring a door , the server settings are not mentioned anywhere at all yet you are supposed to know “use the .de server “ make sure the time on the gevice and the equipment is the same too basically ,a pile of crap

    This app works when it feels like and it has a big delay from when people hit the call button if you get any notice at all. Oh and seriously the look of the icons and the app as a whole terrible. Can you at least try to bring the look of the icons into 2020. They look like it’s from 2009 when apps where just starting.

    I agree with statements by others I’m not sure how this app gets an average 2.9 rating. The system has great potential but the GUI is a joke. Because the app is not reliable I have people at the gate calling me from their cell. What a waste of $1,500 I ordered a replacement system I’ll never use BFT again.

  • Terrible App

    This app is terrible!! It freezes all the time and has a whole host of issues. It is beyond disappointing! I have a gate and a lousy app to try and operate it, when so required.
  • Unreliable - avoid with AES intercom product

    Bought an AES intercom unit for a gate and had it installed about 10 metres from a Wi-fi router. It worked fir the first few weeks. Then the iPhones and iPads didn’t sound when the intercom button was pressed. Initially the contractor had fixed it and said this hasn’t happened to any other customers. However, it’s never worked properly. I’ve missed many parcels, deliveries etc. The equipment looks good and seems to work but the connection with the app is mostly lost plus the app has a very poor UI. Therefore the system is very poor and should not be sold. It needs to be certified to stop AES constantly selling rubbish and not rectifying it. Few £thousand in the bin. Thanks AES - staying clear of your products and apps from hereon.
