  • Freezes, then crashes; Unwanted ads and still unable to disable cloud recordings

    *** Update 7/7/23 ***:
    Besides my original review below, this update is to let you know that more than half the time, the app freezes on launch then eventually crashes. Also, taking the app out of memory and relaunching does not fix the freezing issue. This is been going on for at least a couple weeks. I’m currently on the latest version of both iOS and the app. This is also happening on a different iPhone with an earlier version of iOS (15.7, I believe), but never recovers. Please fix this ASAP - the app is no longer useable.

    I’ve been a YI Home and camera user for several years. You should provide a way to disable marketing push notifications. Most people do not want these, find them invasive and really only want notifications on motion detection. Would you also please restore the setting to disable the brief cloud recordings. Most SD card users don’t want these cloud recordings enabled. It’s a privacy concern and you should respect your users and restore this setting. Note that it used to be possible to disable cloud recordings several years ago. I will update my review and rating after you have added these features.

  • No download from SD card

    When I first bought a camera on the recommendation of a neighbour I was so impressed I bought another and all was good. Colleagues at work even bought one on my recommendation. No additional cost unless you used their cloud storage. Fantastic. We have SD cards in both cameras and we were able to download footage if required. That was until about 12 months ago. Now without any notice Kami have, though a software ‘upgrade’ taken this away. Having contacted customer services they only now offer 2 options. Take out a subscription which is unbelievably expensive or get up on ladder and remove the SD card every time I need to download footage. If there was a zero stars option they would have it. STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY OVERINFLATED SUBSCRIPTIONS. Needless to say we are now looking at replacements.

  • Bug?

    I don't know what happened but this app keep getting worst and worst.. stuck at first loading screen, fail at loading the camera, crashes.. every time that happens, need to be completely removed and re-install all over again.

    Not only that, some features are not perfectly working (detection is not detecting the events) and some features is not even available (such as, got no option for recording 24/7 non-stop)

  • Reinstall

    Also having the black screen, app will not load after second to last update. The new update from yesterday didnt fix it. EDIT: Developer told me to try reinstalling the app, this fixed my black screen issue. Thank you for responding to my review quickly. I’ve been using this camera for almost five years now to keep an eye or ear on my kid while he’s sleeping and I’m downstairs. It’s always worked really well until this one issue recently where the app screen was solid black after an automatic update I presume. Reinstalling fixed it. Five stars for the long life span, motion and sound detection, developer support, and peace of mind I have while I’m away from my kid. Thank you.

    Only issue I have is the camera makes repeated clicking noises when the sun starts coming up, but I just turn off the camera in the app when that happens. Must be something to do with the night vision.

  • DO NOT BUY YI HOME

    Update 06/2023: I deleted the app and reinstalled. It works now, however, the video quality is such a fraud. Yi Home adds a filter on your video picture so it appears darkened, particularly the upper and lower parts of the screen. Absolutely fraudulent company. DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE.
    Update 06/2023: The latest app does not work, loading up shows only a black screen. Update 01/2022: Yi went out of their way to ensure locally saved video playback quality is garbage. They apply some sort of filter to the video where the top and bottom quarter of the screen is darkened. This is their dirty tactic to encourage owners of their cameras to buy into their cloud service. Sep 11, 2021, Yi home has changed their app to prevent owners from watching more than 6sec of recorded video even though it is all available and stored on your SD card. Any attempt to view your footage and it will stop with “your 6 seconds preview has ended” and they push you to subscribe to their Kami cloud service. I have bought over 6 camera and have recommended them to family and friends for years. They have destroyed their customer relationship and I will remove all their cameras going forward. I do not recommend Yi Home, terrible they did this to all their loyal customers and major selling point that you can store/access video locally. 0/5 stars.

  • Currently non functional.

    June 2023 Another update, and app non functional. Just a black screen. Jun 2022 Yet again another update has now removed sharing unless a subscriber. Lost my trust again in monetising a product that was paid for in good faith. Back to 1 star. Very poor. Well, it seems they have bowed to the very negative and deserved feedback on the last so called upgrade to basically blackmail users in paying for the subscription service for functionality they removed. 5.02 sees a return of the original functionality. Rating changed from 1 star to 3 stars, as time will tell if this company can gain my trust again. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Like others the September 5.01 “Upgrade” is poor. Keeps crashing and unresponsive. Timeline not available on playback when full screen. No date/time stamps on playback any more. Will be seeking a direct refund from manufacturer as functionality has been removed from original product which was the reason the purchase. Now Not fit for purpos

  • Version 6.1.1 - black screen

    Ever anise this update 2 days ago I get more solid black screens then I do security footage. When I try to open the app or click on an viewing I just get this black screen the majority of the time. So frustrating when you pay for a service and don’t get it!!
  • If it fails after many years of use , delete and reinstall app

    If you are getting black or white screen on the app, after many months/years of use, just delete the app and reinstall as a new account. You will have to connect each camera again
  • Latest update breaks the app

    Just a black screen on latest update. Can’t view on my phone and that’s how I signed into the pc app too so all my cameras are useless now.
  • Latest update is terrible - most of the time app won’t open

    Latest update for YI home is terrible, 9/10 the screen just stays on the launch page and won’t open to the camera or if it does it says camera offline but it isn’t! Very disappointing
