Deleting app.

I missed my slot yesterday due to circumstances out of my control. I went in the help section under "missed slot" thinking I could credit what I paid, for today. I got an email last night from you saying that you were just going to keep my money. It's not really saving me anything if your company is commiting theft from customers. I usually try a service a few times before I refer others. This app showed it's true intentions by the 3rd time I used it. So no referrals. Also, I am absolutely, without a doubt deleting this app. I'm also in the process of creating content that will tell the truth about what you did. Opinions are null. I'm on vacation from work. So I have 7 days of effort to put into my content. I have time to look up content that others have created and tell them what happened as well. Or..... hopefully I'll see a refund. ATP it's not about the amount of money. It's about keeping money that you are not entitled to. I hope this review discourages many from downloading. If an order cannot be picked up, how are you all able to keep someone else's money?
Just as you thanked me after you kept my money. Thanks...I guess?

Minimizing waste while allowing you to expand your palate

Too Good To Go is just that too good of an app at what it does, which it aims to do in minimizing food waste. While the premise of each purchase is that you will receive fair market value equal to what you purchase, there is the inherent uncertainty and with it gamble that today the store you bought a surprise bag from will have lots of leftovers. As for the stores themselves, this app allows for them to minimize food waste, make a few dollars off of their leftovers, and reach a potentially new demographic of customer who at first try that store via this app but over time can become a new loyal customer.

I believe in the idiom “waste not, want not” and with this app and how it seeks to achieve its purpose, I am convinced that TGTG has found that right balance in doing its part to help reduce food waste. Indeed, I kinda feel like a 5-star rating does injustice to the wonderful work that this app seeks to do.

Canadians and Vancouverites BE AWARE

This app was pretty darn good when it started off. I remember seeing a segment on CTV news about how this new app would allow shoppers to get discounted goods that were close to expiration or had to be thrown daily. Now you literally get THE BUSINESSES GARBAGE. Be prepared to receive MOLDY OLD FOOD that is not days but weeks past its date. It’s as if the businesses that sign up assume we the general public want literal trash and that we can’t afford to eat. I’ve been given literally creamer packages from 7/11 when it was supposed to be a few breakfast items. This app is HOT GARBAGE. Either the developers need to get in touch with the businesses and or this app is a total bust. No customer service agent will help you and bots make fake reviews everyday. It’s as if the app was sold off to some scummy grocer who’s now charging money for EXPIRED GARBAGE AND CERTAINLY NOT EDIBLE FOOD. YOU TRY EATING 2 WEEK OLD CREAM CHEESE. GARBAGE DO NOT DOWNLOAD AND IF ANY BUSINESS DOES YOU WRONG TELL EM TO THEIR FACE THAT THEIR A DISGRACE AND COMPLAIN TO THIS APP.

Stoned listening to Christmas music in September

Yes I know I'm early for listening to Christmas music but it's vinyl and it's like 1950s/60s music so it's whimsical and whatever. I don't have to explain myself.

So anyway, I saw someone talk about this app on TikTok and I was also stoned then so because I thought it was so cute I downloaded the app immediately. I perused through the shops and pretty much everyone of them was sold out except for one. (I think that's a conspiracy but we don't have time for that. This review is already too long). The sweet treat shop I spent $6 at was by my old apartment so when I went to pick up my order and I was surprised to see how many things I got; at least $20 worth of treats and sweets. And these sweets were good. I didn't eat em all at once cuz I didn't want a tummy ache but the chocolate flavored cheese cake and the half a vanilla chocolate swirl brownie I had was the bomb.

I already reserved my next pick up. I'm hooked on this app. Perfect for frequent stoners but also I feel like this is something that could support the unhoused community well. Now I'm ranting. But something to think about, I guess.

In love 😍

They have so many options when it comes to the stores (in different locations too) and the food from those stores are always something different (might get pizza, taco, salad, pastries, etc). I always order from District Taco in KOP because they seem to be the best - staff so friendly and food amazing. There are some cool pizza places like Zestos (great value and fresh/ heated up) but then there are awful ones like Primos (they make you pay full price for spoiled/cold food). Only ran into an issue once and that was with Primos when they didn’t have any food and didn’t cancel which made me go through the app for a refund that took about 2 weeks but don’t freak because they will get to you. Can order a few if available which can last you. You might get it at the very end of store closing hours, but it will be perfectly good for the next few days (if it takes you a bit to eat or order a few and planed to save it for another time).

This app is perfect for saving food and on money. Awesome for people who might not be able to afford full price on food. Thank you ❤️🙏

If in doubt try it out you can’t lose

So far I’ve only had three suprised bags of groceries.
My first was Aldi Chester Road it wasn’t my first choice but was still available when my coop had cancelled Hopefully due to not having food left
Was is a good box yes but not necessarily for me as it contains a lot of bread items which was wasted on me buying just for me but even taking the bread out I still had more than my moneys worth
My second box again not from my first choice coop but the one at The Radleys way better for me as a lone person and would defo go back again in a heartbeat the staff were lovely oh sorry so where the ones at Aldi and both stores carried my boxes to my car as I’m on arm crutches
Then last night I actual got to try out my local Coop Shard End their and back in less than ten minutes lol
A good selection I have posted what was in my goodies I took a bag in with me then I hadn’t got to worry about carrying a box but I’m sure Luke the others would have carried it to my car if I’m nitpicking I’m my other two boxes I had some fruit but everything else I would / will use
So go on give it a go as even if meals / meet produces are same day freeze them and use them when ur ready I will defo be back will I try a bigger store again like Aldi maybe not if so much bread but another night could be totally different
If I’m doubt just try it out what u got to lose !!!!

THIS APP IS A WASTE OF YOUR TIME:STAY AWAY

If Apple allowed to rate an app with negative stars I would give this NEGATIVE TEN STARS. The first time I bought a surprise bag from a pizza joint, you had to show up at 11:30 at night. I get there and the restaurant is t even open Second time I buy a surprise bag from a bakery and half an hour before pick up I get a text message saying Oops there’s no food going to waste we’ll refund your money. Third time I buy a surprise bag from a different bakery. Again I get a text half an hour before pick up time: Oops there’s no food going to waste we’ll refund your money. Sorry but three strikes and you’re out! I’m deleting this app and telling everyone I know that it’s just an exercise in futility. They’ll probably delete this review. It’s a great concept but they really need vetting of their partners I’m thoroughly disgusted and disappointed. I’ll just buy whatever the cost of the surprise bag is in canned foods and take it to a local food bank! Shame on Too Good to go!!

Lightweight a scam, not as advertised

When I downloaded the app, I was so excited because it sounded like a steal deal. But shortly in, I realized it was not that worth it. The stores that use it usually are the more expensive store, and they promise to give around 75% off from full price, but after trying it out, I realized it was only about 50% what these stores were selling it for. And since these stores are usually more expensive, it was only a little cheaper then at a budget groceries store (except for there, you can choose what you buy). After having multiple times where they promised to give me give me 4 times the goods I’m paying for, but only gave me 2 times the amount (cheating me out of half what I paid for), I decided to contact their customer service on 2 occasions. It’s been 2 weeks, and I’ve sent follow up emails, and I still haven’t heard a response. All in all, what your saving price wise, your spending more gas wise. You would probably be saving money by just going to your local budget grocery store.

Retailers can cancel at the last minute, but you can’t.

My local Spar has cancelled 2 out of the 3 “magic bags” I was able to order. It seems the magical thing is that they disappear before your eyes. As a buyer, you’re only allowed to cancel with 2 hours notice which means you’re losing your hard earned cash if you’re stuck in traffic or your train gets cancelled. On the other hand, the store appears able to cancel at any time and this time it was so late I only got to find out when I arrived at the store. They said that they didn’t have enough food yet the one bag I did get from them contained food that didn’t expire until the following day. This time there was discounted food on the counter including items where the expiry date doesn’t really matter much. It wouldn’t have provided much variety but it would have met the requirements of the offer. However, I have been able to collect bags when travelling and haven’t been let down by any other retailer, which brings my average rating to date to 2.5/5 where a cancellation scores zero although it should arguably be negative as I have incurred the time, effort and cost of travel for nothing.

Too Good to be Donated to Chatities

What a “wonderful” idea - food that previously would have gone to charities, food banks, community projects, people in need, or just underpaid business’ workers is now making even more profits for the businesses. Playing with the hipsters’ guilt the app’s marketing team beautifully presents their lucrative adventure under the guise of an ultimate world-saving act. I have not had many “Magic Bags” with the app, but they were enough to appreciate how invariably horrible the experience of discovering the bag’s contents is. Why one would need so much bread? Cannot it be used to create sourdough for fresh loafs? What is one supposed to do with all these pastries - already past their attractiveness? I would not probably give them even to pigeons, it’s so bad for their stomachs. I wish people responsible for businesses would just make their calculations better, and no left-overs will be left after the opening hours. Also, please, the REAL food is NEVER wasted!.. Fruits, vegetables, berries, seeds gone bad are just perfect to enrich soils for new crops - instead of using chemicals.

It is just all very, profoundly, deeply sad.
