Save a lot at first, thenโฆ.sometimesโฆ
As someone whoโs claimed a little over $250 in the past few years since this programโs inception and uses Upside every time for gas, it could and should have been more. Seems about 10% of my offers get the โissues foundโ remark or go โexpiredโ and no cash back is given and no reason given thatโs easily available for me to find. Please tell me what the issues are so that I might not make the same mistake over and overโฆif itโs in fact my fault or within my controlโฆ..and also give the opportunity to fix the issues to receive the offered offer. Sometimes you are required to upload a picture of the receipt immediately, and other times it just says โyouโre doneโ. Please give the option to upload the receipt every time so that itโs not possible for upside to not be able to find the transaction and deny the offed offer. If you pick the wrong card from your wallet you wonโt get it either as you must select which card you will use before you pump. Why not associate all of my cards so you canโt miss it? Youโve already got them all stored anyway. There is also fine print that reduces anything upside says they will give in cash back if you have a loyalty card with a business that provides any discountโฆ.sometimes to zero cash back from upside. Iโve been happy with it for a few years, but itโs beginning to slide into the โmore trouble and disappointment than itโs worthโ categoryโฆfor me anyway!

The app works fine until it's time to actually prove to it that you filled up at the gas station with the offer you โclaimedโ. The app instructs you to tap a button that doesn't exist on the screen in order to โarrive" at the gas station. So I looked it up online and people say you have to log out and log back in. Then it prompts you with the option to "upload receiptโ which is what I do. But now the scanning technology which scans your receipt on the app doesn't work anymore! So I have to upload a pic instead. Logging out and logging back in after you've claimed your offer is what makes it eventually work, but not every time. Sometimes I have to wait a few hours after I've completed the transaction before logging out and logging back in will prompt the option to "upload receipt", which appears to be the only way I can prove to Upside I completed the transaction. It always works eventually, and I've saved $40 so far so that really is nice, but the app is buggy and has these issues. I really hope they fix it, it would be a dream to have this app finally just be smooth throughout the whole experience. But as of now it is a chore, they do make you work a bit for the savings.

Bait and switch
I was offered a discount of 15 cents per gallon at a shell gas station. I also had another 10 cent per gallon bonus that was to be applied to this purchase. When I got the cash back they changed the offer to 1 cent and said this was because I received 5 cents off for my shell card. The thing is I only received 11 cents per gallon back from upside when I would have received 25 cents had I not used my shell card. They say the maximum amount that would be deducted is the 5 cents per gallon but then how did it drop all the way to 11 cents per gallon? Thatโs lower then my original offer by itself, and half what I should have received with my bonus. They basically used my bonus to pay the cash back that I was originally offered which is so shady and scammy. Thereโs a name for this exact practice and itโs called bait and switch. I decided to report this situation to the BBB and recommend everybody does for these illegal business practices. Also one time I drove super far to a gas station to use upside, just to realize that the price at the gas station was significantly higher then what they had listed. Everything about this app is scammy and they also collect a ton of information from you.

Love the app, needs some updates FEEDBACK & SOLUTION INCLUDED
I love the app however it needs the option to snap a picture of the receipt with each transaction for record keeping purposes. I have been a user for a couple years now and I love the app, Iโve been here for all the upgrades and overall the app has came a long way. HOWEVER, lately the โcheck inโ feature has become hit or miss as it doesnโt always catch my transaction causing me not to receive the cash back on some purchases, it doesnโt happen with every transaction or at specific locations/companies itโs totally random so I would LOVE to see the snap a receipt option for each transaction as it can be used not only for the customers transaction records (i.e needing to pull up gas receipts for any reason) but also for any issues that may arise customer service wise to resolve any discrepancies etc. I have cashed out many times and always received the money, Iโve been earning for 2 years using this feature many times with no issues until as of recent and I have never had any of my card information compromised after using it in the app so over all it gets 4/5 for me as it is a legitimate app it just needs some additional features/updates! It works its real and I love it minus the few minor issues.
