  • Generally easy to use

While I find the app generally easy to use for check in purposes, now that we can add our vaccine certificates to prove our status it would be great if we could add partners/ family members certificates to the app to streamline the process.
We can already add other people to ‘check in with’ so please add the ability to store their certificates. It would allow couples who only use one phone to have a digital copy of both certificates readily available while already using the app the check both people in…

  • Service Victoria

I’ve been checking in via my camera and that seems to work, although the App icon disappeared from my iPhone some time back. But when I tried to load my COVID Cert the system appears to let it load, but as I have no icon I cannot access it. Tried to contact them by accessing the site using my email address and despite having a profile (accessible only via the App Store) the system tells me I don’t exist. So this means that if I was at a COVID site I wouldn’t have been contacted anyway because the system does not work. Tried to dump it out and start again but that does not seem possible either. Very poor!

  • Joke. Made to make you think they care.

Updating deletes your contacts tracing history. That’s fantastic when you find there’s been a local case, update, and see you’ve been nowhere.

No follow ups from the government if you have been to an exposure site.

Best info is your local feeds and Facebook. You know, local that care about your life. Meanwhile my small rural town is full of tourists mid holidays whilst being told our daily Covid case will rise to 1500 in Victoria soon.

It’s turned into ‘save yourself’. Government doesn’t care if you get Covid anymore. They just want the country making profit during a pandemic, which we have been…. You’d think any country would be in the red whilst going through something like this until we get ontop of it. Seems the government would like us to drop like flies. Less people to worry about then.

Stay safe folks. I mean this from the bottom of my heart. Look after one another. And consider the people in the towns you decide to visit. When I’m reality you should be stuck at home like many Australians.

  • Brilliant

Thank you for listening to feedback and adding history for the last 28 days, so users can view their own data, and delete info if they really wish (hopefully after writing it down). To anyone reading, all data is deleted within 28 days automatically, but check in info is also deleted within that time for places you check in to. Please use your real phone number, as if you are a tier 1 close contact, you’re going to get that phone call to keep you and those you interact with safe. This is great for the tier 3 close contact, and tier 2 where people haven’t been sent an sms because of the speed of updates. Very happy to give 5 stars for this version, after 3 for the previous versions. Thank you, and well done

Hi _m_a_t_t_, thanks for updating your review. We're always looking for ways to improve, so thanks for taking the time to send feedback.
  • Locked screen stops registration. But otherwise good

I’m surprised at his quick this is. I start the app with Siri holding the iPhone button so it’s easy walking up to a venue and asking Siri as I approach so I am all ready. I don’t use the camera app and let it link as that’s slower . EXCEPT I can’t get it to open from Siri when screen is locked. Settings do not allow this particular app to open on locked screen . Of course Face ID is a dumb thing to have to use as it means mask off but often that’s what I have to do Anything that hinders checkin is a bad thing

Thanks for the review, hazzabol. We’ve passed it to our app team so we can continue to improve the your experience. We appreciate your feedback.
  • No App transparency and slow

As it is mandatory to use the app more transparency on usage data would be welcome. Some data is stored for 28 days, some indefinitely.

The app is also very slow to load an an iPhone 12.

    Developer Response

Hi Victoria-melb, Sorry to hear the app is slow to load to your iPhone 12. Can you try updating to the latest version of the app and see if this improves your experience? When you check-in by scanning a QR code with the Service Victoria app, we'll only use your details for contact tracing if there's a COVID-19 outbreak. If there's no outbreak at a venue you've been to, we'll delete your details after 28 days. We won't use your details for marketing or other purposes. More at www.service.vic.gov.au/check-in-privacy
  • Severely limited functions

    1. We need to access our own check in records! 2. We need to be able to check out! Updated in response to the developer’s response: 1. not allowing users access to their own data is not protecting privacy. The data is clearly stored by the vic gov for contact tracing purpose. Besides, there are other ways to authenticate users to the app/data. Please don’t make excuses for the incompetency of the app. 2. Auto check out is a nice but impractical idea. It means the contact tracers have to comb through extra people when a simple checkout would’ve excluded many people. Again, poorly thought out.
Finally, do you really need two splash screens? Or is it to hide the slowness of the app launching. Hilarious! Cannot imagine the team is proud of this…

Hi a.wang28. To protect your privacy, the Service Victoria app does not keep a history of the places you have visited. You also don’t need to check out of a location because the app automatically checks you out after two hours. Checking in gives the public health teams your contact info so they can have a discussion with you directly about the specific timings of your visit if the location becomes an exposure site. We appreciate your feedback.
  • Need to add more companions

Whilst the ability to add up to 10 companions is an improvement, it’d be great if you had the ability to add an unlimited amount of companions. I work at a venue with an overwhelming amount of elderly regular clientele. None of these people have the ability to check in with a smart phone so we do it for them on an iPad. Ideally, we would like the option to save their contacts and just select them each time they come in. Instead we must enter their details every single time they come in. Other than that, the app is really simple to use and very user friendly.

Hi BalyangGolf, thanks for your feedback and rating. We are currently working on a solution for this and it will be available soon. We look forward to welcoming you back to an improved app experience.
  • App needs to allow for poor network availability

I have had several instances where I was trying to check-in but it failed due to poor or no network connection. Given the increased use of the check-in component it would be useful if it used a store-and-forward approach when a satisfactory network connection cannot be established. The stored data can be forwarded once a stable network connection can be established. This has to be better than losing valuable check-in information.

I also agree with previous comments regarding storing of frequent companion details as per the check-in apps for NSW and ACT. The app could also do with a check-out capability same as NSW app as this must provide more useful information to the content tracers.

  • App fine, but doesn’t go far enough.

Like has been mentioned here. I was disappointed when using the app for the first time over the weekend. It’s no where near sophisticated enough.
As noted by many it requires a frequent companion check in and for these people to be stored for future check ins. What’s the point of both my husband and I checking in at the supermarket, one should do it and tick the other as a companion.
Many states have done this, I’m not sure why we are behind when we’ve experienced the worst, we need to be the best of the best and showing everyone how it’s done.
