New should be better not worst?
The new app with new feels is great but that is about it. Everything else just buggy and need more works before releasing it. Too bad the older version is not supported and you are forced to use the new version…. Great Promise but so I mature right now
The idea and concept is fantastic… but this app has a long way to go… No map view with location based searching / grouping Can’t copy any meta data like gps coordinates Sleep time back up slow and craps out for no reason, couple of weeks and only about 1000 photos uploaded… No moments
Doesn’t work on M1/M2 macs

Good alternative to Google Photos
Synology Photos is a good alternative to Google Photos, even though the search capabilities aren’t nearly as robust. For example, you can’t search “camping” and expect to get results with pictures of camping. I can live with that though since the reason Google Photos can do that is because they constantly scan your and everyone else’s photos with their machine learning, and I’ve become increasingly uncomfortable with giving them that much data into my personal life.Show lessFireguy360
Very basic backup but not much more
It does offer a very slow photo backup. I only had around 150 photos and it took 3 days to complete the initial backup.
Deleting photos… phone goes to sleep waiting for it to finish. Eventually it works. Just a painfully slow experience all the way around.Back2carrierPigeons
Need date edit function asap.

Unreliable App
I have this app installed on all family member’s devices (iPhones). I want it just to seamlessly backup their photos and videos without them having to do anything. When I check in their phone, the app has timed-out, signed-out or skipped a bunch of files. It just doesn’t work without lots of manual intervention, none of which anyone will want to do. Gets stuck backing up videos.
Works great backing up photos but keeps getting stuck backing up videos, particularly ones over 1 minute long. Only work around seems to be deleting the app and it’s data and reinstalling it and hoping it gets past the video before getting stuck on another 🙁Green Spotted Giraffe
Please add sync to the mobile app
Please add the option to sync your Apple photo library to the mobile app. Additionally it would be great if you would build a native Mac desktop app that does the same so that uploads are decentralized.EdNash
Embarrassingly bad software
Unfortunate that a company management signed off on releasing this software for a very good hardware product. App is not easy to configure, has a poor user interface, and lacks basic guided navigation to set up and use. Company should scrap this software and consider buying out a third party software company that knows how to design software for its system.Show lessRPSVCA
Good, but missing the ability to edit photos
I like all they’ve done with this app and the NAS package, but it’s missing the ability to do normal / basic edits to the photos. Automatic backup is great, but any edits I make to the original photo in Apple Photos doesn’t get synced to the NAS or app, and Synology Photos doesn’t have the ability to make any edits. It feels like Synology is so close with this app, yet missing this absolutely critical functionality.Show lessAnother Ohio Guy
