  • Good, but just one thing

Honestly this is a very solid app. I’ve had no trouble with it that didn’t have a simple fix (ie closing the app, reopening app or signing back in after NAS restart.) one thing that is a bit cumbersome is not being able to see local photos, the ones which have not been backed up, as a viewing option. I have to go back to the iPhone photos app to see them. Maybe with an icon one which ones need to sync still. Other than that, it’s a great app and alternative to G-Photos. I, at least, know where my photos are going, instead of an anonymous “cloud” server. Thanks, Synology!

  • Although the interface looks better, it's still hard to use as always, which is very synology

Can we just synchronize, it's too anti-human to select photos one by one, there is not even a select all button, how in the end thousands of photos to select?
  • Fine but has one annoying bug

I love the app but it has one super annoying bug. It keeps logging me out every once in a while. I’m using the quick connect handle to login. Same problems over local network as well.
  • It’s OK

I believe the old version of the app had auto tagging. Would be great to bring that back. Would also love to see the description without having to click the i, or an indication that there is an attached description. Background backup is a must. Let’s go team, I know this isn’t the #1 priority of the NAS, but let’s show it some love

  • Love this App. But it needs more love

The “Enable Sleep time Back up” doesn’t really work. Put it on for 45 min & it only uploaded 2 pix. I like one stop shop apps, so I hope Synology fixes/upgrades all this sooner than later…
..Google Photos I admit loads way faster, but you catch more faces (which I prefer) but both still makes you try to figure out (like more than half results) who the faces are/belong too& names. The Synology People facial recognition album takes longer than I expected.. just takes ages. But once it works I can see it’s freakin awesome. I’ve tried multiple apps & I still want to use this synology app. It’s just the things I mentioned just keep me waiting for them day they fix & upgrade these things.

  • Upload keep getting stuck

1-Upload keep getting stuck i have to close the app and reopen it so it continue A must fix.
2-Upload is so slow while PhotoSync is like 4x faster
    3-doesn’t always upload in background
4-other apps have a setting “upload on location” i would like that it will upload my photos when i return home for example
5-i love Synology but they should invest more in this app.. else people will start look for alternatives

  • Just needs deduplication

I love this app and of course my Synology NAS.

After Apple decided it was going to start monitoring users photos I thought it time to finish moving off of iCloud and onto something I control.

Before sleep time backup it took a very long time to sync since it would only work while the app was onscreen and seemed to hang on certain large files. But, it worked and I finally decided to free up the space from the Photos app. And I couldn’t be much happier with the choice and reducing my iCloud account.

The only problem I still have is that I also have duplication due to already having previously copied many photos to the NAS. It would be such a great additional value to have de-duplication tools: whether in the app or just somewhere in DiskStation.

Great job! Keep the new features coming 😁

  • Great, but needs “moments”

I LOVE that this app auto backs up my photos instantly, but one major feature it’s missing is something similar to iOS moments. I really like seeing the moments the iOS photos app creates with the photo collages with music. My phone is almost out of space from all the photos and videos but I’m hesitant to hit the free up space in this app because it’s gonna wipe everything off my phone and I’ll no longer get the occasional moments from iOS photos. Or even integrate this app with iOS photos so it can read the pics off the nas and do all the leg work just have the nas as the source folder. Another nice feature would be if we could choose to only delete photos from our phone that’s older than 6 months or a year.

The auto backup did save me a few months ago when I lost my phone. It has ALL my pics with my kids and I hadn’t looked in a long time to see if the auto backup had been doing it’s job, so I panicked and jumped on my computer right away and lo and behold, all my photos were there on the nas like they were supposed to be. That changed my situation from losing priceless photos to only being out a few hundred bucks for my phone.

  • Getting better

When I first transitioned from Ds photos, I was very disappointed with all of the missing feature like assigning permissions to albums, not to mention the complete lack of a Apple TV app replacement. Over time i’ve gotten used to and grown to enjoy setting picture conditions for albums.
It’s better than Google Photos by a very small margin and better than most locally hosted album apps.

It still has a long way to go to get up to speed with the rest of Synology branded apps, it almost seems like it doesn’t belong!

  • Works great with RAW files

Looking to dump paying another company for cloud storage space, so I picked up a Synology NAS. This app is perfect for viewing my Nikon RAW files. It’s quick, respects my folder structure, and even groups by face. Very happy with this app and look forward to future enhancements.

I would love to see subject/object Recognition come so that I can search for objects/scenes/etc like on other services.
