  • Was almost good, now iOS 18..

    Was a mostly functional way to control these bulbs. There’s no way to rearrange the dashboard, so when I wanted to control an entire fixture at once I had to scroll to the group I made. Not the end of the world, but clunky.

    Killing blow has been the update to iOS 18. With the death of legacy widgets, there is no quick way to turn my lights on and off anymore. Apparently, this has been coming for 4 years, so it would’ve been nice to have an update before now. My lights are also incompatible with HomeKit, so now I’m kind of stuck. I guess I’ve learned my lesson about going “smart”

  • Infuriating Glitch - Wretched Hit Detection

    I open the app, tap to turn on or off the light in one room, and it instead turns on or off the light in the room below it on the menu. Do you want to accidentally turn on the light in your sleeping child’s room when you’re trying to turn off the light in your own bedroom? Do you think a user interface should so readily make such a basic interaction produce the wrong outcome on a daily basis? Don’t try and pin this on me, Ledvance, I know how to use a touch screen and my fingers aren’t gigantic or something. You can stick a thin little gutter between menu items, it isn’t hard. And feel free to demonstrate how little you care by copying and pasting the exact same text you’ve posted to every single other one star review.

  • Weather ALWAYS wrong

    For example: currently it’s the middle of the night and there is very heavy rain and wind which it has been all day, and this app is saying it’s 11 degrees and sunny 😂 the inaccuracy is almost always the case, so my commands don’t work (ie. turn on the lamp when it’s cloudy/stormy, etc). I double checked my location and all is correct so I’m not sure where this info is coming from. No other complaints!

  • LOVE HATE

    I’ve used these for years, and loved them. I recently got new WiFi and had to reinstall all the bulbs. After doing so, (and updating the app) I can no longer group lights into different rooms to control together! Super disappointed! Loved this feature for years! Is there a new update coming that will allow this? Really miss being able to change color, turn on/off, and quickly change the rooms mood with groupings of the bulbs at once. I’ve even used these on photo shoots, but not being able to group…dang. Help us out SYLVANIA

  • Does not support SmartThings yet in 2024

    I tried to use the LEDVANCE and Sylvania partner device in SmartThings app, but it does not work. I tried to download the alternate “LEDVANCE Smart+ Wifi” app in Canada but App Store says not available in my region.

    So other countries can support these bulbs in SmartThings (new as of 2023) but not Canada or Mexico.

  • Not compatible with Apple Home?

    I’ve been using Alexa with only minor issues since buying Sylvania bulbs three years ago. Sometimes they would fail to connect, have to be reset, etc. Recently we started transitioning to Apple HomePod. But when I look on the app, there’s no longer any support for these bulbs in Apple Home. That means I’m going to have to replace all of my bulbs if I wanna be able to control them by voice. That’s a bit annoying. How is an app on the Apple App Store NOT compatible with Home?

  • They used to be decent

    I remember these working without requiring an email address, now they do. They used to work without hassling you to share information about your personal network, now they do. Ever since I reinstalled them and used this app in place of G Home, the lights flicker like crazy all the time. The lights flicker even more when they get disconnected from the internet, which is weird and makes me suspicious that they phone home way more than they have to be. They're kind of aggravating stressful light sources now.
    I would have probably rated the lights/app 2-3 stars before because one of my lights worked all the time and one worked most of the time, occasionally turning off and on.

    idk they just stopped being good at some point after reinstalling the app.

  • Love The Bulbs, The App Is Terrible

    These bulbs have performed very well for me, I have no issues with them. The app, however, is another story. It’s awful. I use macro builders and automation scripting in my work every day and I can say with confidence that this app utilizes the worst macro builder (scene designer) I have ever used. It’s clunky, confusing and does not intelligently lead you through the scene-making process. On top of everything, you can’t even audition your settings and changes as you make them! Totally ridiculous. If>Then scripting at user level? That’s just lazy app design. A user should be able to set the lights the way they want and simply make a snapshot of those settings, name it, and that’s it. Also, the grouping feature should be part of the main device management menu, not buried in the individual device sub menu. Sylvania, please hire someone who knows how to design a user-friendly shell for in-app scripting. It’s 2023, not 2003.

  • Convenience/Easy/Ambiance!

    I have had my Sylvania bulbs for about three years now, gifted from my nephew who I turned onto ambient lighting and lighting accents when he was young. He paid back the favor by giving me a set of the Sylvania bulbs, which I was not familiar with. I absolutely love the convenience most of all. Turning lights on/off and changing their color without even getting up, now that is my kind of product! 💫
