  • Best Pomodoro App I've Used

This is the best Pomodoro app I've used. I was using an app called Focus - Time Management before I switched to Session. One thing I didn't like about the other app, and realized I needed, was color-coding and tracking for different types/classes of tasks/work. Focus only allowed me to track how much time I was working in general, rather than how much time was spent responding to emails, reading, writing, and so on (I'm an academic, so those are some of my main types of tasks). I've recommended this app to several people in my personal life and I recommend it to anyone interested in tracking their work. It's truly great. Thank you to the developer!

  • Best Focus App

By far my favorite app for focus and productivity tracking. Helps foster a mindset to really be aware of where your time is being devoted (such as by adding the activity and the time you were focussing on that task to a calendar). Exceptionaly easy to use and has a very friendly and clean user interface that is a joy to look at. This is the app I've told so many of my friends about, especially because of how many apps for productivity timers for Mac are awful.

Session is easily the best app for anyone to use for time management and productivity.

  • 50 stars instead of 5

I've been using Session religiously for 4 months and it is hands down now my favorite Mac app. Literally can't live without it; it's a critical part of my daily workflow. I've used many time tracking apps in the past, from those that track your computer's activities automatically all the way to those that are completely manual, and I have to say that Session has completely nailed it for me. It's incredibly flexible, has the right amount of detail, has great reporting PLUS CSV export for even more insights, and the developer is extremely responsive (even quickly implementing a feature request that was extremely important to me!). If I could give it 50 stars instead of 5 I would.

  • Best pomodoro app, but subscription bit pricey for me

Session is one of the best pomodoro apps out there, and you can tell the developer is putting their heart and soul into this app. I wish there was a bit more flexibility in the subscription model for folks on a tight budget. The app is stellar and I'd like to support the dev with either a one-time purchase or a smaller sustained subscription. Until I make the big bucks, I'll stick with the free version and tell my friends about the app.

  • How is this application not higher on the “focus timer“ list?

I don’t review applications much anymore, especially applications that require a subscription. I’ve tried almost every top “focus timer“ app on the App Store, and each one has its issues and none of them are perfect.
This app is pretty much perfect. The simplicity in the integration allows me to be flexible with my Focus schedule so that I can adapt two specific tasks. instead of attempting to “force me into“ a specific workflow, this app adapts to my workflow without becoming cumbersome to manage and oversee.
I cannot really even go into all the little ways this app works so perfectly. But if you have tried the rest, and you’re ready for the best, give this one a shot.

    Developer Response

Working hard on this so this review made my day! Thanks Mossonarock!
  • I love this!

I never review apps, but Session deserves it! I am a master procrastinator, to the point where it’s almost an art of avoidance. Session had me doing an hour and 51 minutes of work! I turned on my study music, hit the start of the timer, and then bam! I did work! If you are like me and never feel like you are making progress while studying or doing homework this is for you!

  • Great, simple features

I was looking for something that would do a good job of tracking my time as well as keep me focused on my intentions. Some of the features I find most useful, relative to other apps:
    - Very intuitive interface for entering an intention and starting a timer.
    - Easy to adjust time to a different duration before or during a session
    - prompts me to take notes at the end of each session, which has been helpful in picking up where I left off, or remembering what I did.
    - The breath reminder does help start a session focused.
    - Easy to pause or end a session early if there is an important distraction
    - Simple Tags for different types of work/session
    - I can see my calendar right in the app! (I just keep it tiled to the right of my main work screen)

So far there's nothing I don't like, and I don't even have the paid version yet - though I'm considering it to remove the limitation on "timer scrubbing" (how many times you can adjust the duration each day), and to use the Slack notification blocker and automation features.

  • Got me back on my PhD track

I am an international student doing a PhD in the UK. I just started using the app on my mac and loved it. I am writing my 5th chapter and lost motivation for a couple of weeks. Now I am back on track and hope to stay that way. All because of this app! I am a mom, so I like that I can pause at any time, unlike shut-up-and-write groups where I need to be focused for the whole period of the session when so many things interrupt me.

  • Has a time scroller

It's so helpful to finally have found a pomodoro timer that allows me to customise how long a session goes for by the real time.

Easily, the single best session timer app I've come across. And I've been idly looking for a couple years. So I don't say that lightly.

    Great job Mr Developer!
  • Genuinly impressed by this app

I'm a bit of a productivity app junkie and I'm fairly shocked to have only just discovered this app. It is by far the best pomodoro app I've used, and also includes app & website blocking, an overview of how you spent the day (super useful for standups and daily/weekly reviews, decent reporting and a ton of automation options. The free version will give you enough of an opportunity to see if this is right for you. I urge you to try.

    Amazing work.
