  • New iPhone no Starkey

Hearing aids are paired with the new iPhone but can’t get into Starkey app to change anything. Keeps asking to sign in but doesn’t accept the information. Very annoying!
  • App is good. Needs a watch complication

The app is good, but it needs a watch complication so it can be locked to the watch face.

UPDATE: while the developer keeps saying that the app can be mirrored on the watch (which it can), they do not seem to understand what a complication is and seem uninterested in the need for one.
A complication is not the same as having an app on the watch. Many other hearing aid manufacturers that put out an app are far better designed and not only have complications on the watch, but those apps also work with Apple shortcuts.

Until the developer realizes these differences and addresses the needs for them, this will only be a 2-3 star app at best and remain way behind its competitors.

  • My Starkey needs a watch complication

I’ve been a hearing aid user for almost 15 years and this review may be premature, as I received my Genesis 24s today. (I previously had Starkey I110s, Livio 24s and the Oticon OPN S1s.) The Genesis 24s are a significant improvement over my previous hearing aids and the My Starkey app is a noticeable improvement over the Starkey Thrive and Oticon apps.

So far, I only see three needed improvements. Firstly, add a My Starkey complication for the modular watch face. The Apple hearing complication is a poor option. Secondly, provide a way to identify what the audiologist programmed the rocker switches to do. Thirdly, provide the wearer the ability to adjust the tinnitus settings.

An update to my earlier review:

The app is on the Apple Watch and is opened by pushing the crown in, scrolling to the app and tapping the icon. However, the app doesn’t include a watch face complication for the modular watch face. I’m running WatchOS 11.0 and My Starkey 3.0.

The rocker switch on both hearing aids play the turn on and off chimes. I’ll be asking my audiologist if she can make the chimes louder. The preset programs are announced when I briefly tap the left hearing aid rocker switch, but doesn’t announce anything on the right one, something else to check with the audiologist.

Lastly, it looks like the audiologist didn’t turn on the tinnitus settings.

I’d give the app 5 stars if it had the watch complication was on the watch face.

Thank you for your review. The latest release of the app will let the Apple Watch mirror the app on the phone. Your suggestions are good. Suggestion number 2. Are you not able to hear what the indicator is saying or in the case of a volume increase when you press the button? You can adjust the tinnitus under the my hearing icon when you are in the program with the tinnitus active. I appreciate the suggestions. Keep them coming.
  • What a pain!

Virtually never works. When listening to podcasts, often sound is only in one hearing aid. Not consistently right or left. Audiologist said might be glitch with origin or source of audio. Doubt it since Duolingo and Audible are both pretty common companies and have their bugs worked out. Frequently My Starkey app “can’t find” my aids when they are in my ears and phone / laptop is in my hands. I turn on Bluetooth and device searches endlessly for aids. Normally glitches at church so can’t adjust sound. Sometimes I just give up and take aids out of my ears. When they do work, sound occasionally muffled or tinny and cuts in and out. Have been back to provider three times but no resolution. Updates are downloaded whenever I can actually get them to connect. Never again.

Thank you for the feedback. Without knowing the details of your phone, and the number of Bluetooth connects and if you have others on the same cloud account that use hearing aids. I would suggest resetting your Network settings. Most people can get the app to connect to the hearing aids by refreshing the My Starkey app. To refresh, close the app by swiping it up and open it anew.

  • Mystarkey App

I would like to echo the previous reviewer. I have to remove and then redownload the app on a daily basis.

    Developer Response

Please do not remove the app. If you know how to close the app and open it anew. That will refresh the connection. If you have other Apple devices in the home using the same iCloud account, confirm that your hearing aids are not connecting to them.
  • First time with hearing aids

This is my first experience with hearing aids and apps that connect to them, but, honestly, it’s been going great. The app is easy to use and the personalized modes are really nice. The only thing I’d really like to see added is a widget so I can put a smaller version of the app on my home screen and I wouldn’t have to open the app every time there’s too much car noise and I need to adjust the mode. Great product, keep up the good work.
