Best walk tracking app!

First, I really like the fact that the story lines at the bottom are able to be re-read,as most people do not walk while looking at their phones. I also really like how the app is made.

One thing to be aware of however, if you are just downloading the app, is the app will not register walking of over 1 mile a day. However, you can either pay a premium membership which gets you unlimited miles, some other avatars and a couple other things, or a one time payment of £4 to get just unlimited miles, which is what I did.

I still think the app is worth 5stars even though you can't do more than a mile without paying, because I think it's important the app developers make a profit, and seeing that it's a free app, I understand why they would want to charge for these kinds of things.

Works only sometimes

The app is fun but it only works sometimes, doesn’t sync all steps and only works occasionally now. I’d wait till they upgrade or update their system.

Non-Interactive Non-Reponsive

I purchased this app with unlimited daily mileage and family connectivity. A month later the family activity part disappeared and became a subscription based thing. I don’t mind paying reasonable prices for things but they have to give in return and work. $25 seems a little steep for an annual subscription that gives you only a few more avatars to hike with (I assume that is what is meant by avatars) and family connectivity through Apple. That said I would still pay it because I was and still am enjoying sharing this with my daughter. I did actually sign back up for the family plan trial but the app failed to work, I was not granted anymore avatars nor was I reconnected with my daughter. We could see each other but only where we left off on 3/1 when this became a pay for service. I contacted the developer several times with absolutely no response so in the end I canceled the Family trial because I did not wish to pay for nothing more. I suppose I could reinstall the app but I have no idea if that wipes out my progress or reconnects me with my daughter. The unlimited daily mileage is worth the one time purchase, the subscription is useless as you get nothing for it.

I love it

I have tried a few walking in exercise apps. I find them very dry and boring. The fact that this app includes a quest and several virtual challengers Which go from not many steps for the beginner to quite a serious walker/runner making it so different. Along your walk it is constantly updating comments on where you are, which encourages you to keep checking in with it and motivates you into extra walking. It links with both your phone and your watch so all your steps are counted. For me, it is perfect and I I really enjoy the Lord of the rings vibe.

The subscription is just for people who want the Friend Feature but whoever doesn't want that can buy or continue to use their existing Unlimited Walking distance, that doesn't go away! Amazing

The very best app ever! I’ve walked 170k in the last 2 months, this motivates the heck out of me. Love love love it. I still haven’t been able to figure out how to see some of my friends on my map that also have this app, I recommended it to them because I loved it so much. That would be my only complaint, I have 6 friends on my list and I can only see one, and I know they upgraded. If that could get fixed then this app would be perfect 👌🏻.

Was good until they went down the monthly payment route

Was super excited to spend the one off payment to unlock the full potential of the app as well as support the devs and app development with a simple one off purchase. The fact that this app was not going to become an addition to my existing list of exhausting subscription services was what excited me to purchase it.
To find out that my one off payment is now just basically a month’s subscription value to use the app properly, I’m left with a bad taste in my mouth and frankly disappointed.

Hello Rhasgulis, Thank you for the feedback. You can still opt in for the Unlimited Distance and anyone who paid for it in the past still has the same access to the app as they did before. The subscription is only for the Friend Feature as that requires serves that have quite a bit of upkeep. The unlimited distance is not affected by that at all. Happy hiking.

A fun motivator!

A friend recommended this to me. I downloaded this app 6 months ago and really love it. I love the ability to choose who I can compete against (Alice Wonderfoot. So cute.) It’s helped motivate me to walk more and drive/transit less. I also like the simplicity of it. It’s just fun and easy to use.

More Fun Than Viewing Steps in a Health App

Very well done app that’s entertaining and motivating, without that feeling like the purpose.
My friend and I go on regular walks and we’re both fans of the LOTR, Harry Potter, and literature generally. It’s been fun to see our relative progress along the map of Middle Earth, with illustrations sent as each new milestone is met.
Last year she had begun first, with my getting the app a couple of months later, so we were out of sync. We’ll both reset the journey for another year of walking soon and see if we can challenge Mr. Underhill!
I’d love it if a new adventure or two were added. I’m sure they’re working on that, and it may be why they’ve added a premium paid option, to help finance such development. That’s something I’ll be doing, as I easily get enough use from the app to justify it.
Whether using with someone else or independently, this app is thoughtful and well executed. Highly recommended!

Anyone who doesn't want that doesn't need the subscription and can continue to enjoy it with their unlimited distance. We too hope that we'll have the chance to create more adventures in the future! Getting a little fitter and a little nerdier every day

I’m a little obsessed. I check this app multiple times a day and it’s just… idk, wholesome fitness fun? I like the data and analytics and the scenery is super cool.
