  • Maps.me without the glitches

Long time maps.me user, apparently the war is causing problems with that app. Organic maps appears to be almost identical, but without the problems. If the ruler distance function and cloud backup could be implemented here, that would be outstanding. Thrilled to find this app by accident. Keep up the excellent work.

  • What maps.me used to be

I’ve been using maps.me for many years now, and was recommending it to everyone I knew. But recently, it’s become bloatware and increasingly annoying.

And then I saw a recommendation in a maps.me review, and here I am. So happy to have pretty much exactly what I knew and loved for all these years, minus the bloat.

Keep up the good work. 👍

  • The Gold Standard of Navigation

This app is just amazing, and the CarPlay app is beautiful. One minor issue I have is that it doesn’t seem to play well with deviating off the main route, and seems to try to get you back onto the original route rather than recalculating a more efficient way. I’m sure the team is working to make it better as always.

    Keep up the great work!

Thanks, can you please send us your route and where you deviated at ios@organicmaps.app, so we can reproduce the issue?

  • New Improved Searching Is Awesome!!

Thank you for all the recent efforts improving searches. It used to be a real struggle to find places. Only minor wish for now is improvements in bookmark exports. Exporting one list at a time to put on another device is a bit painful painful when you have a dozen or so of them. Please keep up the good work! 👍🏻👍🏻

  • App not working on iPadOS

Open Organic Maps on iPadOS and any feature you try freezes the App. Seems to work OK on iOS.
  • Very good!

Update: five stars awarded when the improvement suggestions are incorporated!

    Original post:
Garmin pretty well destroyed my Drive 51 gps with its July update, which completely removed the local speed limit icon, distance to next turn icon, and muted all spoken route directions. Not much left that’s useful. Enter Organic Maps, recommended by YouTube privacy advocate Naomi Brockwell. It works well! It’s based on Open Street Maps and only downloads the sections it needs, plots routes well without directing you through every back alley. It has a local speed limit display, ETA, miles remaining, etc. Finally, it is completely self contained and can perform all functions without any type of cell or wifi connection (major plus, an ability that Google or Apple maps doesn’t have). It runs on my old iPhone 6 on iOs 12.5.5! What’s not to like? My Garmin has been assigned a new role as primarily a paperweight and my iPhone 6 is now my primary route finder. Suggestions for improvement: * make the speed limit display a separate icon overlaid on the map. Change actual speed background to light pink when actual speed exceeds the limit (like Garmin used to) * have two or three routes to choose from, rather than the single result shown now. * ensure future upgrades will run on obsolete iOS versions, as Organic Maps is a perfect use for a repurposed iPhone or iPad. * add an (optional) altimeter display

  • Best Offline Maps for Privacy

Love this app for walking directions with offline maps and saving my favorite places. Beats Google Maps by a landslide for walking directions and complete privacy without having your data sold to advertisers.
