Downloads right to my phone. UI is silky smooth and scales intelligently to whatever elevation.
Why pay for a map, and why be the commodity being sold by Google or Apple (yes Apple too). Those business don’t just show up on the map by accident.
Not only that but corrections I’ve may within the map get uploaded to Open Street Map rather quickly. Let’s turn this into the Mastodon of mapping apps!Show lessadventure_tense
Maps Don’t Get Better Than This
Organic Maps scared me. Using a new maps app, especially one that you’ve only heard about from strangers on the internet, is a very terrifying experience. Will it hold up?
I put it to the test in an hour long drive, from one larger city to a metro area. I made it! While Apple Maps has more bells and whistles during the routing experience, Organic Maps does the job. It makes up for it in many other areas, such as the fact that OpenStreetMap is an incredible project, and it’s great to put it to use; it allows us to download maps; and it’s far more beholden to its users than any closed-source app.Show lessDogeyDogeyDoge

By comparison to most other navigation and mapping software apps that are after your money this app makes a refreshing change! It doesn’t want your money, (but donations are welcome), and there are NO ADS! And it’s not tracking you from a marketing perspective. Fantastic. The maps are decent enough and give enough detail to cope with most situations.
I can only think of one improvement, if it could track me, (from a navigational perspective), and show me where I’ve been that would be really helpful. I can’t find that as a feature anywhere in the settings.Show lessCouchski

Thank you so much for your support! Track recording feature is already on our to-do list. As you mentioned, user donations would be greatly appreciated as they would be a huge help in allowing us to plan and implement all the features we have in mind.Love the privacy aspect, but maps are dated
I’ve been on a privacy kick recently trying to limit myself from big tech tracking everything. There aren’t too many FOSS options for iOS, but this app was on a list so I figured I’d try it.
While I absolutely love the offline capabilities and being open source, the maps are severely outdated for my area. My street name is wrong, as well as the street for the house I grew up in. I assume they are pre 911 addresses. Kinda hard to use the app if ALL addresses are that old.
My child’s dance studio is moving to another building. The address doesn’t even exist in this app. Unfortunately I can’t make use of it.Show lessGuzzyflux

The reason for the poor quality of map data in your location is the low popularity of OpenStreetMap (our map data source) in your region. OpenStreetMap.org is a collaborative tool where everyone can update the map. In some areas, map data quality provided by OSM is even better than what other popular map services offer. Unfortunately, in your location, as we can see from your review, it is far from being good enough now. We hope this will change significantly when more people learn about OpenStreetMap and start contributing to it.Great app!
I love having this with when I am biking locally or traveling to distant places. I try to remember to refresh the maps before heading to a new destination so I can confidently wander around without needing cell or Wi-Fi service. My favorite is dropping pins at every photo opportunity to better remember when and where we went, then downloading the folder of locations to keep with the photos taken.Show lessjwd630

App is crashing on ipad latest ios release. Not sure if it worked before as this is my first time downloading it. Setting screen often freezes. App freezes and does not respond. If it worked, im sure it would get a 5 star ratingBrett Notorious

What Maps.me used to be
Offline OSM without tracking and slimy monetization. The route planning is wonky, especially in bike mode, but it’s indispensable for bike touring.Educated_foo
