  • Brutal

I cannot begin to describe what a nightmare navigating this app is. You buy the pass(es) on this app, but then part of the journeys that you thought you booked may have to be supplemented with seat reservations from the actual rail service in whichever country the trip departs from. This last part, and reconciling it with this app, is what is very challenging and makes me wonder how much double paying I’m doing *if I can figure out how to just pay for the seat reservations*. Truly, so painful. Apparently Rome2Rio is what I should have done, but now I’m $1200 CDN in on this app so trying to figure it out, trip by trip.

  • Clunky and confusing

The whole system is very confusing and clunky … not to mention the seat booking aspect of it who has to happen outside of that app.

  • Very confusing

The whole system is a little confusing, and the lack of cohesion between the app and website, even with the same account, is needlessly frustrating. Why are my trips on this app not automatically shown on my account on the website when I’m booking a reservation? What is the point of making the reservation need a trip if it’s separate from the global pass linked to that trip?

  • No seat reservations

I am very disappointed by the Eurail booking process. The schedule shows seat reservations from 12€ but I have had to pay over 50€ per person for seats. This adds a substantial amount to the cost of the pass. You also have to make reservations through another site. Not all trains are available with the pass. I had made travel plans based on the SNCF schedules and then found out trains weren’t available or seat reservations were required with the Eurail pass that wouldn’t be required through booking direct.

  • Good app

Really easy to use, the only difficult part is booking a reservation but if you take five minutes to find it online or speak to a human in the station so far they’ve all been incredibly helpful for all my needs. solid 9/10 from me
  • Updates necessary!!

The app and the functions per se are fine, it would be great if seat reservations can also be made via the app. If you are using this app to use your pass, it is great.

The CRUCIAL update though, is the train schedules are sometimes not updated. I booked all my tickets and reserved seats too, but the shifted schedule wasn’t updated on the app nor the website. I had to book new tickets, take 3 extra transfers, and couldn’t get to my airbnb by midnight. They didn’t charge me anything but still I wasted so many hours during my trip only because of the late update. I’m not entirely sure if it’s the interrail/eurail or the DB, but as a traveler who loves Europe I really hope there are updates or fixes made with the train.

    Thank you.

Hi there! Thank you for your feedback. We are committed to keeping the train schedules updated to prevent such inconveniences in the future. For sudden cancellations or other travel disruptions, we'd advise you to check it with the respective railway company to get the most updated news, as the timetable in our App shows the disruption only when the railway company updates it. Nevertheless, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work on these improvements. • Scam

Don’t bother getting this app. This only works for travelling with really cheap regional trains that take ages. For any high-speed trains You have to pay extra fees they call “seat reservations” so on top of paying around €500 for supposedly four days of travel or I don’t know how much you still have to pay at least €20 more per each reservation sometimes up to 30 and 40. That is if you find any trains at all to begin with. So in the end it’s actually three times more expensive to get this stupid pass and there’s no way they will refund it. Don’t waste your money is better to buy your trains in advance and book them individually.

  • Pretty bad

This app is THE WORST there was 6 of us trying to book our trains and not a single person didn’t have a problem. You have to go to a separate website to purchase the seat reservations but we were all taken to different websites, so it was difficult to explain to one another what we were doing and just created a very confusing scene. 5 of us have now managed to purchase our passes but one of my friends is still having issues hours later.

Despite all this, the app is useful for inter-railing trips. It keeps all of your information in one place and once it is all booked I imagine I will be hugely grateful for it. It is just surprisingly clunky for something created by an international company!

  • Caused a lot of stress

My friend and I booked a pass to use throughout Spain, we planned our route using the website and everything seemed doable. Once we arrived to Spain we realised some of the places we wanted to visit weren’t actually part of a direct rail route even though this wasn’t mentioned when using the route planner before arrival, had to spend €60 on a blahblah car in order to get to our next destination. Throughout our journey we used 5 travel days, 4 of which we had to pay an extra cost on top due to seat reservation (ranging from €4 to €12). Even after we had reserved our seats through the app we turned up to the station to be told that our train has been sold out and therefore forced to take the next train departing 3 hours after our initial train. Wish they had clearer information about their seat reservation scheme as we probably wouldn’t have booked it had we known how much stress it would’ve caused.

Hi there! We apologize if the information and our product have caused you stress during your trip. We understand your frustration, however we'd like to clear up some information you might miss. For your information, it's not possible to book any seat reservations via the App. You can book via our website or alternative means as mentioned on our dedicated page: https://www.eurail.com/en/book-reservations/how-do-i-book-my-reservations On our website at the reservation page, you could also find a clarity about the information if a route is valid with a Pass. We are sorry if we couldn't help you in advance to solve the issue you encountered. If by any chance you need our support, please feel free to contact our customer service via https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/requests/new or via our Live Chat. • Outdated technology with unhelpful information

The app is outdated and fails to give you the current status of rail ticket availability or the ability to book most tickets within the app directly. The company should consider integrating with the partner rail lines so you have one experience from searching for an itinerary through creating a mobile ticket all within the one app. Oh and speaking of mobile tickets…they don’t have them. You still have to PRINT a copy of your ticket. How unsustainable and inconvenient in this day in age.

This pass is pretty much a scam if you’re travelling through major Eurostar lines or in the summer. Everything will be sold out even though the passes app shows “reservations starting at _€”. You don’t find out until you buy the pass and search. And even when searching everything still looks available until you go to put it in your cart. There is no transparency on ticket availability until the last second when it’s too late to do anything about it.
